Your doctor sounds very proactive, which is a good thing. Most doctors....ok, the ones I've run into as of late, try to pass everything off to IBS (which makes me want to scream). Go with it. It's better to have the knowledge that these tests can give you instead of not knowing anything. If all else fails, it confirms or rules out how well your diet is...

ARCHIVED Doctors, Celiac/gastroparesis....and Ibs Ugh!
Jaimepsalm63 replied to Jaimepsalm63's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Thank you mushroom! I already know what the problem is and know that nothing at this point is going to help me....except the drugs that cost $25 a pill after the insurance is applied and was told I could take it every 4 hours. So, with that costing so much (and it doesn't work anyway), guess how much I take because I have three boys to feed. Just to... -
Hey DavidG...welcome! I have three boys that I had tested by the pediatric GI instead of my peds primary. Why? Well, the peds primary admitted he didn't know that much about Celiac and wanted someone who did to do the tests. Also, in my family it runs that the blood tests are always negative, but the intestine biopsy is positive....so even if a blood...

ARCHIVED Doctors, Celiac/gastroparesis....and Ibs Ugh!
Jaimepsalm63 posted a topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
OK, first I'm going to apologize...this is a major whining moment for me, but I post it here because no one else understands or gets it including most doctors! I have Celiac...that's a given on this forum. I have gastroparesis, bummer, but I'm learning not to eat my food and to drink most of it instead. I'm so sick and tired of getting sick to the... -
ARCHIVED Thaksgiving Menu / Multiple Allergies
Jaimepsalm63 replied to codetalker's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Hey Codetalker, I hear what you're saying for wanting ideas for menus and such for holidays. Here's how the cooking is in my house because of myself and 2 of my 3 boys. We have to fix something that doesn't include: for me: gluten, caffeine, chocolate, potato, nitrates, dairy, citrus, canola oil, cinnamon, brown rice, (I can't have fiber, but made a... -
ARCHIVED Do I Have It Or Not? Some Say Yes, Some Say No
Jaimepsalm63 replied to TimothyRyan's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Hey Timothy, Don't know if you're still on this thread or if you found the gastroparesis thread. I'm really going to push hard on you to get that gastroparesis test done. It's the stomach emptying test. I've been out of the loop here for a bit because of a flare up with the nasty thing myself....ugh. Anyway, if you could get that tested and let us... -
This is more of a vent than anything else so please forgive me. My husband and I applied to another company for life insurance for us both. We have a policy with one company and thought maybe of getting one through another as well because of the excellent rates and the connection with an organization my husband belongs to. Long story short....I...

ARCHIVED Please Bare With My Confusion
Jaimepsalm63 replied to Layla26's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I have both gastroparesis and celiac. I took all the recommended meds, except the Erythromycin because I'm allergic. It was found out I was allergic to it all. They haven't tried me on the Marinol and are thinking about it, but I have 3 kids I'm raising so I've already declined. The Zofran is sooooo expensive and is the only thing that helps me not get... -
Sorry to here you have both of these. I do as well. I tried all the meds too with no success. Botox is the one thing I haven't tried because I can't afford it. My insurance won't pay for it. My doctor said it really wasn't worth it either and I would trust him more than my own mother with my digestive tract. The one thing about gastroparesis is that...

ARCHIVED Do I Have It Or Not? Some Say Yes, Some Say No
Jaimepsalm63 replied to TimothyRyan's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Tim, Also, the pill camera won't show the timing either because you may have had brushed your teeth or sucked on a cough drop with in the 8 hours before and that would've gotten the stomach moving....so not a controlled result to your test. The pill camera would've found anything wrong with the lining of the stomach and intestines, but not if your stomach... -
ARCHIVED Do I Have It Or Not? Some Say Yes, Some Say No
Jaimepsalm63 replied to TimothyRyan's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Tim, The EDG wouldn't do anything to show gastroparesis. That's a separate test. The test that shows that you can't have anything in your system for at least 8 hours and that includes brushing your teeth and sucking on a mint. They mean absolutely NOTHING in the stomach because that starts the muscles moving and gives a false result. An EDG won't show... -
ARCHIVED Do I Have It Or Not? Some Say Yes, Some Say No
Jaimepsalm63 replied to TimothyRyan's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I swear I thought I had made a comment yesterday when reading this and it's not up. I have no clue as to why. Anyway, I would still talk to your doctor about gastroparesis. I was dx with gastritis and then the gastroparesis. It took some time and it's very frustrating. If you get that tested at least you won't have to worry about it, and you won't have... -

ARCHIVED gluten-free And Nitrate Free Bacon?
Jaimepsalm63 posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Hey all, I know this has been posted somewhere on here before...at least I think it has. Anyway, I found gluten-free bacon, but need it to be nitrate free too. Am I just out of luck? Looking not only for myself, but someone else. If you have any suggestions, if any can be found, that would be great. Thanks! -
ARCHIVED Do I Have It Or Not? Some Say Yes, Some Say No
Jaimepsalm63 replied to TimothyRyan's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Again I'll add my 2 cents for what they're worth. I was having similar problems and found after two tests being performed that I had gastroparesis. The first test was done and said everything was in normal limits, but this was at a stage when I was having flare ups and would feel horrible during them and fine when I wasn't. The second test was during one... -

Thanks for the update! I'm praying for ulcers. I know that sounds mean, but they can be taken care of easily! Let us know what's up when you got the results. Blessings, Jaime -

Jaimepsalm63 replied to TimothyRyan's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Agreed Fiddle-Faddle. I was just making sure that someone wasn't going to come back at me and say that timothy needed to consult a doctor and my answer was lacking and dangerous. I'm not allergic to wheat, but very sensitive to gluten even the most minute crumb. I'm sensitive to casein, but not "allergic" to milk. I guess I'm used to trying to "cover... -
ARCHIVED Do I Have It Or Not? Some Say Yes, Some Say No
Jaimepsalm63 replied to TimothyRyan's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Get a diagnosis of gastroparesis then worry about the diet thing, unless you are desperate. If you are in dire need....here is a good start: No dairy No fiber (it slows the digestion system down in the stomach even though it helps with the intestines) Try: Bananas mashed applesauce Rice in a "soupy" fashion meats are fine if they are shredded... -

The worst part about the colonoscopy is the prep. I've gotten one every year since I was 27 because of colon cancer. Stick with the liquids as prescribed and you'll make it through. I've never heard of the prep you're doing. My doctor insists on something else to really "clean me out". Is that the stuff that is about a gallon or two of solution you... -
ARCHIVED Do I Have It Or Not? Some Say Yes, Some Say No
Jaimepsalm63 replied to TimothyRyan's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
It really sounds like what I went through before my dx of gastroparesis. There was/is a fullness in the stomach, food just sitting there, gas building up, sometimes feeling sick to my stomach/sometimes just feeling miserable, not always vomiting....but wanting to just to get the feeling over with. Do you have a "heavy" feeling in your stomach too, like... -
ARCHIVED Do I Have It Or Not? Some Say Yes, Some Say No
Jaimepsalm63 replied to TimothyRyan's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I agree with all the above posters. I would add that the fullness sounds like gastroparesis. I'm not an alarmist, but I went through years of them trying to figure it out even after being gluten free. So, you might want to look into that too. As well as the above advise with cutting out certain foods and adding in vitamins. My GI doc said that... -
ARCHIVED The Price Of gluten-free
Jaimepsalm63 replied to NorthernElf's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I've noticed the high prices with certain foods, like gluten-free bread and bagels. I just abstain now. With the cost of normal food rising and having 3 growing boys....I made the choice of feeding them or me. My one "treat" comes at my birthday. The boys are sweet and make gluten-free brownies. My husband and I are 3 days apart with our birthdays so... -
ARCHIVED Needing Support In Colorado
Jaimepsalm63 replied to Chrissyb's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Hey Chrissy, I also live in the Colorado Springs area. I'm not part of a Celiac group here in the formal sense, but I educate churches with the subject. It's amazing how many people get diagnosed with Celiac and call me because they know someone who knows me. If you are wanting you can contact me and get you going with it all. I can help with... -
ARCHIVED Hair Loss
Jaimepsalm63 replied to samcarter's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Not to get off the subject a bit...does anyone know about hair dye and if it has gluten? I'm one of those that dyes my hair in a salon on a 5 week basis...but am wanting to do it at home so I can save some money to buy gluten free food instead. I know vanity vanity. I was wondering if anyone knew about that as well. I never thought of asking my stylist... -
ARCHIVED Does Anyone Throw Up With Celiac?
Jaimepsalm63 replied to Bri's mom's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I had the test done twice! The first time the gastric test came back normal. I kept telling my doctor something just wasn't right. He listened and did it again....sure enough he said that I did have gastroparesis. He said it can flare up and then calm itself until it's at the point of just flaring up on a regular basis. I know it's a pain, but she...
