  1. Well, if it's already rushing through your system, eating say...carrots, a salad, an apple...is just gonna make it rush through faster. What's the point? How will the D ever slow down or get more normal?
  2. Well, I have to admit...I'm totally confused now. I've never heard that I shouldn't be eating gluten-free bread. Can you please explain your rationale?
  3. What would be the issue with soy?
  4. I've got our whole menu planned out for next week...I'm not even sure I can eat some of it...the veggies and stuff.
  5. I've been "gluten-free" for 2 1/2 weeks. The quotes mean I'm trying but still getting zapped occasionally. I have had chronic constipation as long as I can remember. That ended with the new diet. After a week, I realized the dairy was bothering me...D basically. Not frequent, but well...D! (only here can we talk about this stuff, right?) I didn't FEEL...
  6. Bump!
  7. I'm the only one in my house that needs gluten-free. All my COOKING I am doing gluten-free, but I do keep some snacks around the my skinny glutenivores. I'm trying not to buy a lot of gluten-free sweets, because I'm already overweight and I know how I can devour a ton at one time. But sometimes, I'm just about to KILL for something. so I was wondering...
  8. I went to the Starbucks in my Harris Teeter today...grocery store for those of you not familiar, and told the gal I could no long have dairy or gluten. I knew the gluten wasn't really an issue there but I asked if there was anything...like the lemonade, that could be made into a slushie or something. She was awesome! Let me read the boxes of lemonade and...
  9. Q, I contacted two of the ladies from that North Raleigh group and there is a meeting at Rex Hospital in Raleigh the third Thursday of each month...they are taking August off but start again in September. 7 p.m. I'm planning to go if at all possible....it's hard to think that far ahead!
  10. I'm trying to figure out how strict I need to be with the milk products. Is the lactose a problem only when it is a TRUE dairy product, or even when say...you have a cookie that has milk has one of the baked in ingredients? Rice crackers that are cheese flavored? Thanks
  11. I am also doing WW and I have not gained anything since starting much to speak of...I'm not loosing tons either, because physically I can't do much in terms of exercise. Initially when I found out I was Celiac, I made a dash to Whole Foods and bought several things that I was thrilled that I "could have." Problem was, Celiacs can have them, but overweight...
  12. Somewhere floating around here there is a list of Neutrogena products that are gluten free. They will email you a list if you check with the company though...very good about it. They have a newer mineral makeup that I just bought that is on the list. I can't remember the name right off though. I'm liking it OK...I'm used to having a thin layer of...
  13. No, I never saw them. I think perhaps because I wasn't using Sprue in my searches? Thanks!
  14. I was quite surprised with that list...no one in CENTRAL NC...not a 919 area code in the bunch! I haven't found a local support group in the Triangle yet...but I haven't look really hard for lack of time. Well, I actually did find something about one online, but it appeared inactive...no events for quite a long time.
  15. Praising God with you, Blessings!!!
  16. Is there any reason that the beef couldn't be browned first? Could then drain off any fat.
  17. It's quite possible I had old information about the cheese. There is so much to wade through. But I have read that about the chips in Mexican restaurants, but I'd be hard pressed to find it right now. It sure isn't something I'd make up!
  18. Hey, Liz! Can you pm me the name of your doc you like so much. I live right around the corner from where you said he/she was and I'm kinda anticipating a change. I would have thought mine would have warned about the lactose intolerance...but he didn't. I mean..they ARE the same villi. I just want a doc who is up on things.
  19. Hey, Lost!! You and I are gonna have to learn to make our OWN Mexican food!!!!!
  20. You also have to be careful with certain dairy products. Many shredded cheeses have flour or some other "don't clump together" ingredient that contains gluten. I think if anything else, a Mexican restaurant is just a Cross Contamination accident waiting to happen. Unless they know, and can understand the language, how to prepare your food properly...
  21. You'd have to relay what was in the dip, but I've read that many restaurants dust their corn chips with flour to keep them from sticking to each other. My favorite place is a Mexican restaurant. We went there twice a week before my diagnosis. I'm afraid to risk it now. Even if I asked for grilled chicken, I know they will cook it on the same grill...
  22. I thought Jelly Beans had gluten in them!!!
  23. She can't even count two days at this point, if she ate the ice cream. I would think she would have to start over, really.
  24. Thanks for the cookie suggestions. If I wasn't fat, I'd likely take you up on it!! Only having the bad ones in the house for my men are helping ME not give into the sweet craving! I DO have some Pamela's brownie mix here though....I'm thinking about making them for a gathering tomorow. Do ya get the same thrill licking the bowl from a Pamela...
