ARCHIVED Dang! What Helps With The Pain?
Beth in NC replied to Beth in NC's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I made an appt with a neurologist that a friend of my moms recommended who helped her with her fibro pain. It isn't till Sept 9th, but the old doc that started the practice 25 years ago could see me tomorow....I decided against him and going with the one who was booked up! There's a REASON that old dude has openings tomorrow, ya know what I'm sayin'? ... -
Blessings, I just now prayed for you, sister. I had a tough day at church as well. I've missed a few meetings in recent weeks with back pain and issues with the Celiac. Today I was in a lot of pain, but was able to manage this morning with alternating ibuprophen and tylenol arthritis. I was so emotional though, all morning! I realized how I am isolating...

ARCHIVED I Know Someone Just Brought This Up!
Beth in NC posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I have had only safe foods today...grits for breakfast, and nothing but chicken and brown rice the rest of the day. The ONLY difference was that I bought a grinder at the store today, McCormick's, a Garlic Sea Salt Grinder. It is soooooooooo good, but tonight I've been in the bathroom quite a bit and my belly really hurts. Ingredients: Garlic, sea... -
ARCHIVED Dang! What Helps With The Pain?
Beth in NC replied to Beth in NC's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I'm already taking fairly large doses of Calcium/magnesium. I saw my GI doc a couple days ago and he was great, although I don't think he realizes how much pain I'm in at times. I wasn't that bad when there, but if he could have seen me this morning! He immediately ordered a B12 test, among many others. His main focus in getting my diet straightened out... -
Neuropathy pain, muscles pain....all my PCP told me, when considering it fibromyalgia, was ibuprophen and alternating with extra strength tylenol. I've taken 4 ibuprophen, but no tylenol as I don't have any in the house. I need to find a gluten-free version. What else helps? I feel like one big muscle spasm with occasional electric current running...

ARCHIVED Can The Pressure End A Marriage?/
Beth in NC replied to glutenfreegirl's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I understand. I still feel like cr@p with the Celiac but last week my husband had an injured wrist, knee and hips and he was in a lot of pain. I was having to help the dude out of bed! I had a momentary pity party saying, "boy, it doesn't matter if mama's sick...she still has to take care of everybody else!" I had to get over it though... -
ARCHIVED Can The Pressure End A Marriage?/

Sounds like a rough day all the way around, but I from what you posted, I see some POSITIVE things in there! You said he has been supportive up until now...can I encourage you to go by what he is characterized by? If he is generally supportive, then be thankful for that. My husband isn't picking up books to read about this either. He is following... -

Shay, you did see where this particular company does them, didn't you? I'm interested now as well. I had a B12 test done yesterday and it will be interesting to see what it says. -
ARCHIVED What The Heck Is This?
Beth in NC posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I know it's an anti-caking agent and I'm seeing on sea salt labeling all over the place. Is it something to avoid? The salt I've been using is McCormicks...it's a sea salt grinder. -
I met with my GI yesterday and he suggested having some food allergy testing done, since so many thing are bothering my gut right now. So in the morning I will be meeting with this new doc. I don't know if they will do any testing tomorrow or not...receptionist said it was possible since I haven't taken any antihistimines in a while. ARe there certain...

ARCHIVED How Long Did It Take?
Beth in NC replied to Beth in NC's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Oh my! YOU didd make me feel uncomfortable!!! I'm sorry you got that impression! I just don't enjoy talking about poo on the internet to people I hardly know! LOL! No worries...It's just hard for me to be discreet on this topic and still get the necessary info across. -

I guess too, that there are varying levels of D. For me it isn't a gazillion trips to the potty, just one or two, but...ugh, I hate this topic....I seem to get rid of everything in one fell swoop, let's put it that way. -
I was a bit unusual in that BEFORE I was diagnosed, I didn't have "D" but "C" instead. Within three days of being gluten free, the chronic C was gone. After a week though, I figured out the lactose intolerance. Now, I have way more days with D than what I think ought to be "normal." At my 4 week followup with my GI doc today, he was trying to steer...

If dry roasting is a problem for some people, are we better off getting them raw and roasting and salting them ourselves? I've wondered this about almonds. -

I've HAD Paxil withdrawal symptoms before and it wasn't that. I have wondered about it being a side effect of the cymbalta though. Funny, cymbalta was listed on one site as a treatment for neuropathy. -
ARCHIVED About Those Rice Chex...
Beth in NC replied to Beth in NC's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Shay, would Rice Chex be one of those things that is hard to digest initially, like everyone's been telling me about gluten-free bread? There is definitely something about them or the Pacific rice milk. Last night I needed a small bite of something to take some medicine. I just ate a few dry. This morning's "event" was similiar to the last two days... -

They ain't? U R rite! They ain't! LOL! I added Rice Chex and Pacific brand Vanilla Rice milk Friday night. My gut doesn't like one of them. Ahhh, the joys of detective work... -

I know everyone here is thrilled that there are Rice Chex available, but these surely aren't manufactured in a dedicated facility, are they? Are there not some people who get glutened by these? -
ARCHIVED If You Have Neuropathy...
Beth in NC replied to Beth in NC's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Deb, I do appreciate all the new information. Really....a great deal. I'm finding there is so much to learn and I am having to narrow the new information into the scope of the things I'm actually dealing with right now, rather than all the "extra" stuff that just overwhelms me. All the details about genes and antibodies for example. I do want to learn... -

ARCHIVED If You Have Neuropathy...
Beth in NC replied to Beth in NC's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
From what I've read, it isn't an either/or situation, is it? For a celiac, wouldn't it be the lack of nutrients that CAUSES the neuropathy? -
