  1. Why is Italy so good about celiac?? my family is considering going there next summer so i would love to hear what they do that makes them so good about it!
  2. so i went to the health food store yesterday and guess what i found....GLUTEN FREE DAIRY FREE COOKIE DOUGH ICE CREAM! i was so excited and when i tasted it i was even more excited becuase it is soooo delicious! idk if anyone else has ever come across it but i thought is was extremely exciting and i needed to share the news. the brand is called purely decadent...
  3. Thank you so much to everyone, this really helped alot, alot! Now I have tons of idea...im gonna have to go grocery shopping. Do the cheese substitutes taste alright?
  4. I've been gluten-free and vegetarian for a while but i just recently went dairy-free and i realized...i have no idea what to eat for dinners! i have been having the same two things the past few nights and am obvioulsy getting sick of them. if you are gluten-free, DF, and vegetarian what do you like to eat for dinner?! and i'm not talking about packaged...
  5. aw, i remember when i was first starting out, and its definately overwhelming. the thing that i wish somebody had told me was never ever ever ever assume anything is gluten free! even things like "corn chips" which one would think is only made from corn, sometimes have gluten in them. one time i went out to eat at a sushi place...the rise they used was coated...
  6. I would love to know why it is necessary for barley malt to be added to tea...? seems really silly if you ask me.
  7. do you have a health food store near you? if you do, finding something would be extremely easy...they always have plenty of gluten free breads, waffles, cereals, breakfast bars, etc. i think that the only mainstream cereal that is gluten free is rice chex. also, something that a regular grocery store might have is larabars...not sure if you've heard...
  8. I can not say I have had any dreams like this...but I was thinking...maybe you have the nightmare ones because you are so afraid of getting glutened? i know im always scared of that. maybe the happy dreams are just happy memories? i know you say that you are not tempted because eating gluten put you through so much pain...which i agree with...but maybe you...
  9. Does anybody happen to know if Banana Nut Zone bars are gluten free? I looked over the ingredients and nothing sounded suspicious so i ate it. Then I double checked the wrapper again (i know i probably should have double checked before i ate it)...and i realized that "natural flavors" could have gluten. So now I'm kinda nervous and just wondering if anyone...
  10. did you have any flavored vodkas? sometimes flavorings added have gluten in them. and i remember reading somewhere that flavored absolut is bad for celiacs. but don't quote me, i'm not sure if that is 100% true, just an idea.
  11. My mother and I have both been gluten free for four years now so we always have completely gluten free dinners at our house, including thanksgiving. Since your family has agreed to have the entire meal gluten free, it shouldnt be a problem at all. We still make all the same recipes that we made before going gluten free...we just have to use substitutes now...
  12. So I am convinced that I had candida overgrowth. I have been doing a ton of research on it and I have found that very often, people with food allergies have it. Especially people with celiac disease becuase celiac disease cna cuase iron malabsorption and that can cause candida overgrowth. So anyway, if this is really what my problem is, I want to get rid...
  13. I know that alot of the time when people first start to be gluten-free, they are still eating something that contains gluten without realizing it. never ever ever automatically assume somthing is gluten-free...it is in everything! and sometimes you will never know if something has gluten in it becuase there could be an ingredient like "natural and artificial...
  14. it gets easier the longer you are gluten-free. i have been gluten-free for almost three years now and i rarely am tempted to eat something with gluten. of course there are times when i am still tempted...like the other day when i went to brueggers with my friends...i wanted a bagel so bad! but usually if i see something that i really wish i could eat i just...
  15. its nice to know that i'm not the only one who can't digest bananas but like somebody else said, banana bread doesn't bother me. and neither do the banana bread larabars..so maybe try eating those for potassium.
  16. thanks everyone..i am going to the doctors today
  17. So I have been gluten free for almost three years now and for almost one year I had had absolutely no stomach problems...until this week. All of a sudden I feel like I have eaten alot of gluten, even though I am sure that I haven't. I haven't gone out to eat recently and I haven't eaten any different foods or taken any different medications. For the past...
  18. I have been researching, trying to figure out which types and brands of alcohol are safe for celiacs but I have been finding alot of conflicting/contradicting information. What is the deal with alcohol distilled from grains? What brands of alcohol are not distilled from any grains at all? What sorts of drinks does everyone enjoy that they dont...
  19. Well malt is gluten..usually made from barley.
  20. How do you know this??
  21. I'm not in college but I will be next year so I would be very interested in reading the article. You should post the article on here!
  22. So I drank a good amount of UV blue vodka last night and my stomach doesnt feel quite right today. Does anyone know if it's gluten-free or not? I thought all vodka was gluten-free but maybe i'm wrong.
  23. If you really love snacking on trail mix you should just make your own. Buy each thing seperately and mix it together..that way you know for sure its gluten free. I use raisins, peanuts, almonds, and M+Ms...but you could use any nuts or any candy or whatever you like. (but remember granola is not gluten free its only wheat free)
  24. haha i use the laptop for cramps too!
