  1. Well now that is interesting. The lady I spoke with at Frey, was positive their wine was gluten free. This stinks, I just bought a bottle! Thanks for posting this info. Mike
  2. Absolutely could not agree more. This is what I am talking about. I was under the impression that a big responsibility of moderators was to provide facts and not purposefully create dissent amongst posters. We have one particular moderator that seems to thrive on playing the devils advocate roll. It is very frustrating and I am sure this is why other...
  3. Thanks for the response's. I should have just PM'd the particular moderator. I will do this in the future. All the best, Mike
  4. Was wondering if there is some sort of term limit for moderators? I really think there needs to be a review of some kind in place. I have read more than once what some moderators post and it is just pure bogus information that just destroys the thread. Mike M
  5. Dermatitis Herpetiformis (DH) is exclusive to celiac disease per my Doctor. The research I have done confirms this. Very current research is now showing that the Iga deposits in the skin, began in the gut via T cell immune response and works out from there and is deposited into the skin. Mike
  6. Dermatitis Herpetiformis (DH) is an important associated disorder or complication of celiac disease.
  7. I too also had a sky high celiac blood panel result. There must be a connection with this. I was not allergic to wheat or oats for that matter via a skin prick test. Just almonds and squash. When first diagnosed, my second symptom after the ear ringing was my elbows itched like mad. If it was really bad, my knees itched and my scalp would get small blisters...
  8. I could not agree more. The skin is the largest organ of our bodies. I had a GI tell me the skin is nothing more than the intestines turned inside out. Sounds kind of gross. Back to the skin patch, the GI found the EE, sent me to Cincinnati Childrens and they did wonders. I am sure that I would more than likely never have known about the oats and never healed...
  9. Ravenwoodglass, I can't offer any peer reviewed study of any kind, only my real life account. With regards to skin absorption, being an EE patient also, I had skin prick and patch testing done. This was done at Cincinnati Childrens hospital (they specialize in EE diagnosis and treatment). Long story short, they tested 28 different food items via patch testing...
  10. Hang in there, it may take a year or so. Other than feeling so good on the gluten free diet, the first visual sign for me was how much better my skin started looking. It wasn't dry like it had always been. Heck, I was at the health food store a couple of days ago and bought a bottle of organic wine and the teller asked for ID. She said if there was any doubt...
  11. If you look on the Enterolab web site, I am all but certain they boast about being able to detect very early "via stool sampling" gluten intolerance well before the villa are gone. Some folks just will not throw a positive celiac blood test period. She had a positive test result and a person produces the gliadin antibody because there is a problem of some...
  12. IBS-ABOUT 1 WEEK Acid Reflux- CURED IN 3 DAYS UNLESS GLUTENED AND THEN COMES BACK FOR ABOUT A DAY OR TWO Sleep problems- ABOUT A MONTH IN THE BEGINNING, NOW IF GLUTENED, TAKES A FEW DAYS TO GET BACK TO NORMAL Lack of energy-TOOK ABOUT 6 WEEKS TO NOTICE IMPROVEMENT, ONE YEAR FOR BIG DIFFERENCE Headaches- NEVER HAD AND STILL RARELY EVER GET A HEADACHE...
  13. Hey, I was kind of shocked myself. I know many of the wine makers add in yeast to promote the fermentation and it is not always from a non-gluten source and this is a potential cross contamination issue for us. What I did not post was that the lady at Frey also said she knows that some of the "fining" ingredients (this is what they use to clarify the wine...
  14. I got a chance to talk to the folks at Frey wines yesterday. The gal was very informative, explained why there is wheat in some wines and reasured me that their wines are both gluten free and are OK for vegan's. She also confirmed the yeast they use is NOT grown from a gluten source. Mike "It might be disenchanting if the label also listed the chicken...
  15. Well, it could very well be the other way around. I have also been thinking that perhaps some celiacs may produce a protective mucous coating that lines the intestines because of the gluten being an irritant and they just don't absorb well because of this. Maybe this is why some have no symptoms and yet have severe malabsorption issues and also perhaps have...
  16. Daveyboy......Flawed theory. 99.99% of all foods are naturally gluten free. It is only if they are contaminated with Wheat, Barely, Rye and (Oats to a lessor degree) that you have a problem. I got the testing results to prove even if you are extremely sensitive, a full recovery can and does happen if you are referring to villa damage and other related issues...
  17. Thanks for the responses. Your post brings up another observation that seems plausible to me.....I read over and over about these possible "triggers" that may cause full blown celiac to "kick in" so to speak. I have read that it was a surgery or a severe auto accident or a serious stomach virus that some folks seem to be able to relate getting this disease...
  18. Having personally dealt/coped with Celiac for some time now and the more I learn, I am starting to make observations that may have some merit in my opinion (or maybe not!). So, I have a question(s). Could it be that those that appear to not be so sensitive to smaller amounts of gluten exposure, may have "desensitized" there immune system by consuming small...
  19. Hello g1gg1e, hopefully you can find some help from this link! All the best, Mike Open Original Shared Link
  20. Bingo Ravenwoodglass! How much gluten I consume, determines the severity of my reaction. For me, just one average food or drink item at 20 parts per million (or there about) and I have a reaction. I don't understand why this is the case and others seem to have little to no reaction. Seems logical to me though that even those that are not seeing or feeling...
  21. Hello, Do you do dairy when you are at home? In Mexico, almost all cheese and milk comes from Goats milk.....Some folks do a lot better with goat milk products. Just my 2 cents worth. All the best, Mike
  22. Double check and make sure your gluten free flours are coming from a reputable gluten free source that does not have cross contamination issues involved. Your "gas" could be mild glutening symptoms in my opinion. I am extremely sensitive and need to really watch out for cc. I have been doing really well using gluten free Domata cup for cup replacement flour...
  23. I also reacted to Redbridge beer, never have had a reaction with Bards Beer. I spoke to Bards and the Brew Master confirmed that they grow their own yeast to insure that it does not contain any gluten. This is very important information to know if you want to make sure they have their act together. Their product (Bards Beer) does not contain any Wheat, Rye...
  24. HHHmmmm, never licked stamps, I can only speak for envelopes. I trust what my body is telling me. All the best, Mike Envelopes and Glue- "National Starch & Chemical Company says the glue they use in envelopes is made from cornstarch and tapioca. Some groups were indicating it was ok to lick envelopes now. However, the Henkle Corporation could...
  25. I agree with Momma Goose's response. May be time for a "trial" gluten free diet. Also, in my opinion, you are a prime candidate for having a stool analysis for gluten intolerance done. A company that is called Enterolab does this. Some posters on here are not fans of Enterolab. I do believe they can help in many cases, especially like your situation. As far...
