Hi I was prescribed iron supplement in a syrup form (Ferrum Hausmann) and the composition says that it contains hydroxide polymaltose complex. It's the polymaltose that has raised my eyebrows... I spoke to the manufacturer (they only put me through to the marketing dpt) and the guy there said that it was gluten-free but did he really know what he was talking... -

I thought we don't need to worry about the contents of injections? Isn't it that only whatever you take through your mouth must be gluten-free? As it's our intestine that reacts, so if anything goes straight to your blood stream it surpasses the digestive tract? -

Thanks so much, you are right the doctor will need to prescribe something else . I just can't believe the brush off I can't keep going back to Australia (real home) for every little medication that I need to take, there they get it big time . I really want to share this with you - I am furious right now - the ignorance of some companies like this one I was suggested by my surgeon to take Apo-Naproxen tablets USP 250mg meds (anti-inflammatory) after my recent surgery - but the hospital wasn't able to find out whether the tablets were gluten-free and the distributor wasn't available over the... -

Agree their yoghurts are gluten-free - if yo or your kids had a reaction maybe it's related to lactose? -
I would love to know if anyone has found more answers to the below. I have contacted Boiron who produces the pillules homeopathics and pretty much all of them are gluten-free (except oats and another 1-2 meds which are not commonly used) However I use liquid homeopathics and I would really like to know if those are gluten-free....................

Rachel you could be onto something there with the sulphites because sometimes when I drink wine I get mouth ulcers which could be a prove of intolerance I guess. I also read that coconut is used as a laxative in many Asian countries and maybe some of us are too sensitive and react. Thanks for your posts ShayFL too, I am going to be more observant...

This is something I have been sort of observing on myself as well.... there are various "coconut" gluten-free cookies that I buy in Australia and they recently stopped agreeing with me. I recall drinking and eating a "young coconut" would also cause some of the common symptoms, although that was before going gluten-free. I don't seem to have a problem with...

Potato and tortilla chips seem to cause them for me. They appear suddenly and are ususally gone the next day. I do not have any vitamin / mineral defficiency (to the best of my knowledge, I get tested regularly). Also white wine causes the mouth sores on an odd occasion - so it follows what the others have said about salt and sulphites Mentioned it...
