ARCHIVED Sprinkles
sugarsue replied to sugarsue's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Yes, she can be bothered by things that were processed ina facility..... So it looks like sprinkles and sorbet are out for us as a general rule Thanks everyone for your thoughts!! -
I have not tried it yet but I am interested in it. I have tried the creams that are available which I find helpful but not as good as the bath. We use the baths and oral supplements right now but I would not mind giving this a try. If you do it, I would be interested in your thoughts.

Meat Ravioli Affordable frozen veggie and pasta (veggie and rice, with chicken anything but with some good sauces and flavoring) microwave meals. I miss good tasting, affordable convenience meals! -
ARCHIVED Sprinkles
sugarsue replied to sugarsue's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
From the few google searches I did it sure seemed like people believe they do so I assumed they did but I have had some trouble finding any ingredients that showed that. She definately had gluten poop and I don't know of anything else that she had that would have done that but who knows.... The sorbet she had I just looked up and it has some "natural... -
What ingredient is in sprinkles (like the multi colored one you'd find as icecream or cupcake, etc. topping) that is gluten? I glutened my dd today with no idea that there was gluten in sprinkles. I guess I can't take those things for granted.... Thanks!

Hi. I am allergic to wheat, discovered by a blood test. Before going wheat free I used to get this rash that started at my knees and spread to my legs, torso, arms, head.... It was not like hives but looked more like poison ivy, blistery like that, and was just as itchy. It always spread in the same way and happened a couple of times a year. The docs...

ARCHIVED Sami's Bakery
sugarsue replied to Rachella's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I love Sami's bakery stuff but I agree with the other poster about cross contamination. My 7 yr old and I can eat it fine but my ultra sensitive 6 yr old has periodic trouble as well and she stays away from it. -
ARCHIVED Sleep Disturbances And Gluten Intolerance (4 Year Old)
sugarsue replied to lizajane's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Both my girls sleep better after going gluten free. I used to be up a lot throughout the night. My 6 yr old still wakes up and gets in bed with me but it's not every night any more. She goes to sleep and stays asleep better now. GOOD LUCK to you. In addition, these have helped our sleep situation, epsome salt baths before bed and magnesium supplements... -
ARCHIVED Could This Be Dh? I Have To Ask....
sugarsue replied to nasalady's topic in Dermatitis Herpetiformis
My daughter had eczema, molluscum and what I believe was probably DH but I don't know for sure, all at once and it all cleared up after going gluten free. The eczema and mollucsum cleared up within a month but the other blisters that were the worst took longer. -
GOOD LUCK with it all! I know it's overwhelming. When we had to start the diet, I could not imagine how I would control everything they put in their mouths. But it all worked out. My 7 yr old seemed to be very sensitive to dyes. But then she went gluten free and now she can tolerate the dyes much better. Gluten and dairy are definately her behavior...

ARCHIVED Behavior Effected In Children?
sugarsue replied to Lovemy4babies's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I noticed the red dye with my 7 yr old before going gluten free. It made her totally nuts and out of control. After we went gluten free, we now find that she can tolerate the dyes as long as she does not OD on it. She also had a Candida problem that we had to treat as well. All very helpful things to address! -
ARCHIVED Behavior Effected In Children?
sugarsue replied to Lovemy4babies's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I would not go gluten free before the GI. Maybe you can call every day to see if there is a cancellation so you can get in sooner? I put my kids on the diet right after their blood tests. I still wonder if I should have waited and pushed for biopsy's because now we don't have a diagnosis but gluten free is the only way for us now, we'll never go back!... -

ARCHIVED My Poor 2 Year Old :( Do Ya Think?
sugarsue replied to Lovemy4babies's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Hi, you should keep him on gluten until you see the GI if they are going to do a biopsy otherwise it might not be accurate. Good luck to you. I just don't know but Mothers Intuition is so important. I am glad they gave you the celiac test since you asked for it! If it seems like gluten is the issue, I'd say there is a good chance that it is. The part... -
ARCHIVED Behavior Effected In Children?
sugarsue replied to Lovemy4babies's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
My children's behavior is very much affected by gluten. My older dd (7) becomes very angry, emotional and willful when she eats it. She has ADHD behavoir that is helped a lot by removing gluten and she also takes supplements to help with her behavior too. My other dd (6) is more impulsive and less verbal when she was on gluten. She feels better,... -
This makes sense to me, I was thinking it might be a long shot but you know... you have those moments where you go "Uhhh?????", LOL. But she could have some other type of bacterial rash. If it comes back I think I better take her to the doc... Thanks!

Has anyone heard if Bactroban helps heal DH? Bactroban Cream (mupirocin calcium cream), 2% contains the dihydrate crystalline calcium hemi-salt of the antibiotic mupirocin. I have not had this thought until tonight, but my 6 yr old got these bumps under her armpits that only went away with Bactroban. This was before going gluten free last year. Now...

It looks a lot like what my dd7 had on her legs that was never diagnosed as DH but completely went away after going gluten free.

ARCHIVED Feeling Really Really Sad
sugarsue replied to The Kids Folks's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
BIG HUGE HUGS! Once the gas and C comes, and he starts to get in trouble at school from his outbursts, and his friends start to wonder what the heck is wrong with him, hopefully he will start to get it.... My dd is 7 and she does get it, she feels her brain go "crazy" and she can't control herself. She hates to learn that anyone in her class is PRAYING... -
ARCHIVED Size Difference In Siblings
sugarsue replied to sugarsue's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Very helpful information, thank you! My dd, after going gluten free for 6 months now has 4-6 loose teeth. Coincidence, maybe, but I think probably not. I hope your son continues to soar as much as he can during this time!! -
ARCHIVED Size Difference In Siblings
sugarsue replied to sugarsue's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Thank you! I wish you well too. Good luck with your diagoisis and diet. My dd is still so small. But her feet are looking so big all of a sudden and she's growing out of her shoes. This has got to be a great sign! -
ARCHIVED Im Newly Diagnosed And So Angry
sugarsue replied to ginnybean32's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Yes! My sister's son is allergic to peanuts and she marches right into the restaurant and says "My son had a deadly peanut allergy..." and they talk about the options. My Dad used to have a hard time with everything my sister did to keep her son safe. But he's on board now. It just took a little while. OK, I'm not a gluten free stalker since... -
ARCHIVED Play Dough - gluten-free, Have You Bought It?
sugarsue posted a topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
The first time, I thought it could not have been from the play dough. But the second time, months later, I know she was glutened from it. It must be from not washing her hands and putting her hands in her mouth right? I don't think she's sensitive to it through her skin, but I guess I don't know since she's not handling wheat or anything. I saw the gluten... -
ARCHIVED Will Dh Clear Up Gluten Free?
sugarsue replied to Pattymom's topic in Dermatitis Herpetiformis
Hi, my daughter had something that I think was DH but it was not diagnosed as such since we decided not to do the biopsy. Her's cleared up very nicely after going gluten free. She still has some marks on her legs that are trying to heal and there are a few that have turned out to be scars. My dd's were red pimple looking things that itched very badly... -
ARCHIVED Urgent Need Regarding A Toddler
sugarsue replied to sweetness34's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I was not able to keep up with all the posts about epilepsy and gluten, but I felt the need to add a few comments in case they are helpful somehow. My dd (6) is diagnosed with epilepsy. She has those staring seizures where she will stop what she is doing and is not conscious for 5-10 seconds. She does not convulse but she might walk off or try to climb...
