  1. Last night my DH and I ate out at Chianti Grill. This is an Italian Restaurant that totally "gets it". When we sat down we ordered the Redbridge gluten-free beer, the server didn't even blink and said would you like the gluten-free menu to order an appetizer or meal? We were totally surprised that we didn't have to explain or get a manager or the cook...
  2. Hi AnnieBeth, Our son also had negative blood work at age 7. Our ped's said that he didn't have it and sent us to a peds GI - who also felt that we should treat the symptoms and not the cause. (chronic C, slow or no growth) DS weighed almost 9 lbs when he was born. Each year he started to slowly drop on the growth chart. Twice being failure to thrive...
  3. Our son is also small. He has a summer birthday, but after talking to our peds and his preschool teachers we decided to send him to school. Yes he is the smallest in class. He's in 2nd grade now. But looking at him he would still be small as a first grader. We recently discovered that he is gluten intolerant and are hoping for the growth spurt! ...
  4. Hi - we're new to the gluten intolerant world too! A lovely lady told me about Tom Sawyer gluten free flour. You have to order it online. Its awesome. (kindof expensive) but you can cook/bake normally - cup for cup! I made an old family apple cake recipe and you couldn't tell the difference. Even my gluten hubby said that it was the best he's...
  5. I was wondering if anyone knows if the Walgreen brand of children's liquid Ibuprofen is gluten free? Our son who has been gluten free for one month hasn't had nightmares since going gluten-free. He has had ibu the last two nights and the night talking and yelling have returned. If it is glutened - do you know of another brand that is GLUTEN FREE...
  6. Hi Jason- Even with fiber you want to be careful. I read somewhere that Benefiber is actually a wheat derivative. So instead of helping it actually ends up causing more of a problem. The Kids Folks
  7. Hooray!! We have now been gluten free at our house for our third week! So far my son's weight has remained the same - although I am starting to doubt the accuracy of our scale as he is starting to look like he is filling out. No longer are his little ribs sticking out! But the good news is he has gained 1 inch in height!! This is the kids who did not...
  8. Oh boy - things were going awesomely for both my son and myself. I decided what the heck I would do gluten-free with him. We have had an amazing two gluten-free weeks. His attitude is amazing, his sleep is restful, and his bathroom habits - let's just say that we are no longer on the numerous numerous fibers and laxative!! I have noticed for my self,...
  9. Hi - I just wanted to touch base with everyone and let you know how it is going here. First of all thanks for the support! We started our son on a gluten-free diet last Saturday. So we are almost at one week, we have seen improvements almost immediately. He is no longer on the numerous fibers and laxatives and has been able to BM everyday except one ...
  10. Hi- I am new to this board and need some advice and thought that this would be a great place to start. Here's some quick history. He was born at almost 9lbs. At almost 3 months he was labelled failure to thrive as he wait went back to just below his birth weight. With numerous extra feedings both breast and formula we were able to get his weight back...
  11. Hi- I am obviously new to this board and this site as I was having diffiulty figuring out where to reply. My son is going through a similar situation. When he was born he weighed in at almost 9lbs, by 3 months he was FTT . We got that taken care of, but he then started having bowel issues (constipation) by age 2. He tends to be extremely gassy and constipated...
