ARCHIVED Ham
BRCoats replied to BRCoats's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Thanks a lot, broncobux. I'll look for it next grocery day. A good ham sounds really yummy right now!!! ~Brenda -
Hi all, I've been having somewhat foul, but mostly sweet smelling urine lately....but mostly in the a.m. I did a google search and found out that it is related (or could be) to diabetes. I have gastroparesis, and polycystic ovarian disease....both of which have been linked to diabetes. I have been told in the past that I probably don't have it...but...

Cool!! Thanks you guys. I really appreciate it!! ~Brenda -
I got shingles for the first time.....RIGHT after I went gluten-free. Weird, huh? I went for months, thinking it was eczema, so I didn't go to the doc. Then, when I went in for a checkup, I told him about it. He kinda freaked, spent a whole lot of time examining it, and finally decided it was shingles (it looked pretty nasty - and it was on my forearm, below...

Has anyone ever tried to go on a diet only eating smooshy food....like jello, broth, real soft meat, eggs, etc...? If so, did it help you? I seem to have an awful time with anything that has any sort of texture. My supper tonight was pretty much broth from a roast I put in the crockpot. I think it had a lot of fat in it, which is why it probably sustained...

Hi all, I'm experimenting with split pea soup (sounds yucky, but it might provide some nutrition). So, I need some ham to put in it. Does anyone know of a gluten-free brand? The recipe says that I can either put ham chunks in it, or a ham bone in it. Is it safe to just request a ham bone from the grocery store butcher? I'm confused. TIA...

ARCHIVED Viactiv Multi-vitamins
BRCoats replied to BRCoats's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Hey, would that be cool, or what!!!??? Let us know if you hear anything else on that sort of thing (sublingual supplements). I would buy them in a heartbeat! ~Brenda -
Does anyone know if Kava instant coffee is gluten-free? I went to their website, and under the FAQ's, it says that it doesn't have gluten. And then they follow that with a statement that says "gluten is found in wheat and corn." Ugh....what about oats, rye, and barley???? I wonder if they know. ~Brenda

ARCHIVED Viactiv Multi-vitamins
BRCoats replied to BRCoats's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
gf4life, I know this is an old thread, so I apologize. But I wanted to tell you that the Viactiv really upsets my stomach. Takes me a couple days to get over it. Sometimes I think it's all the additives they put in supplements. ?? Oh well....off to find a different calcium. ~Brenda -
Hmmm....I've tried liquid, but not the children's. I can have sucrose. So maybe I'll give them a try. I had actually thought about that earlier today..... I've not tried Carnation Instant Breakfasts, but I've tried Ensure. That stuff is like poison to me....yuck, yuck, yuck. I get so sick with it. I think maybe it's all the stuff they add in there.....

Hey, That post about being proud of your hubby...well...I've got a hubby story too. We were at Wendy's a couple weeks ago, and I ordered a single with cheese, onion, and tomato ONLY, no BUN! My husband is quite a bit taller than I am (6'2" - and I'm 5'2"). Anyway....he saw over the cashier, and was watching them make my "sandwich". The girl making...

Hey all, I know this is kind of a weird question, but here goes: Is there a way to get supplement in your system without taking them orally? I am unable to tolerate any and every supplement I've ever tried. And I KNOW my diet is not adequate. So......would it have to be via an i.v.? Feeding tube inserted into small intestine?? Any other ideas that I...

Stephanie, I've actually tried the SCD. The reason it didn't work, is that I am unable to get enough carbs from it. So my energy level went down to ZIP!!! I mean, I was unable to do ANYTHING. It was incredible. They rely on honey and fruit sugars for carbs, both of which make me sicker than a dog. As for coffee....I haven't really tried it. Before...

Wow. Thanks for all the replies...but....can't do any of them. I've tried senna before and thought I was gonna die (won't go into detail). Can't do salad, grapes, raisins, aloe....I tell ya'....I've tried everything. This has been going on for three years. No joke. I had a short period of time where I was actually going too much...but that has ended,...

Thanks folks!!! I'll check it all out!! I just love this sight. I learn something new everytime I come here. ~Brenda

Hey all, I'm sure you've all experienced a "NoGo" week, meaning never having a bowel movement. In fact, it's actually been more like two weeks. But here's the trick. I can't have fiber, no fiber supplements, no magnesium supplements, and no vitamin C. All of the above cause major problems with my gastroparesis (paralyzed stomach). Oh, and I can't do...

debmidge, I went undiagnosed for about 12 years. Seems like the longer you go being sick, the worse off you are with trying to heal. I do the EXACT same thing with my green beans. I can only have the french style, and I hide it in tuna and cheese. If I just eat a big helping of green beans, I'm sick. I have no idea why hiding them makes them more...

Yeah, I could see how that would be accurate. I emailed Gerber, and they said that they do not remove the fiber from their baby food. So....I probably won't be trying that. Oh well...it was a good try, anyway. Thanks for the reply. ~Brenda
-
Sorry for the reply to my own post, but I'd really like to know if baby food has fiber in it. So...if anyone has any idea, please reply. I guess I don't understand how they would actually remove the fiber....but then....that's just me. ~Brenda

Uhmmm, are you telling me that baby food veggies don't have fiber??? I purposely haven't purchased any, because I didn't figure it was any different than just using a blender! I don't care what it tastes like....if it's good for me, I'll try it. I've got to get some good-for-me food down. I've been gluten-free a little over a year, and still cannot eat veggies...

Hey all, Not sure if I posted this in the right area or not, but here goes....... I am unable to eat anything with fiber in it. The only veggies i can eat are french style green beans, avocado, and tomato. But only in TINY amounts. If I were to eat a spoonful of beans, I'd be SO sick. So....I was just wondering if any other celiacs have this problem...

Does anyone know of a doctor familiar with celiac disease in Colorado? I'd also like him to be able to deal with multiple food intolerances. TIA, ~Brenda
