  1. BURDEE, Yes, he know's I'm celiac. He's the one that diagnosed me. My guess is that he told the nurse that I was, and the nurse is who goofed....or maybe she just doesn't understand celiac well enough. I will definitely have them check it out before I pop a single pill in my mouth. They're not a prescription....they are a supplement that he often...
  2. I'm just full of questions tonight!! My doctor put me on an osteo-support formula made by Douglas Laboratories. It says it is free of yeast, milk, dairy, etc...and also wheat gluten. Hmmm....does that mean that it might contain gluten from other grains?? I've never seen anything that said it was free of wheat gluten. If anyone has taken these supplements...
  3. Yeah, I know...I read that on their website too. But I still thought it was confusing as to whether ALL of the flavors were gluten-free. Maybe I am just paranoid? :blink Brenda
  4. Does anyone know if Act II popcorn (other than plain and buttered) are gluten-free? On delphiforums, it does state that Act II microwave popcorn is gluten-free, but does that mean all types? I'm particularly interested in the kettle corn, and the caramel corn. Thanks for any help!! Brenda
  5. Yeah, welcome to the English language!! HA!! Brenda
  6. THank you, Rachel. I will definitely check that link out. I am on Aciphex, so I have obviously been diagnosed with too much acid....but I heard that the Betaine helps counteract that, and replace it with "good" acid. Thanks for the info!! Brenda
  7. All, Has anyone heard of Betaine HCL? It is supposedly good for restoring acid in the stomach, and the right kind of acid. If anyone has heard of it, or knows of a good link for me to do further study, I'd be very grateful. Thanks, Brenda
  8. Tiffany, I'm the same way with mood. My husband is rejoicing that he has his "old wife" back. And I'm rejoicing that she's back too. :-) Still struggling with the energy issue....hope it gets better soon. Brenda
  9. Heehee.....well, too bad you're not a doctor, but we're still fortunate to have you. :-) Too funny!! Brenda
  10. Carolyn, I have been gluten-free for about two weeks....although those pickles I had on my Wendy's hamburger the other day were not gluten-free. And my toothpaste was not either....so I don't REALLY know how long I've been technically gluten-free. However, I have noticed a very dramatic change in my moods. But not a whole lot of improvement in my GI...
  11. Oh, trust me....I AM glad that I have this doc. Even if he is five hours away (ok, so that's dreaming....more like six hours at least). He is an M.D., but he works with a naturopath and chiropractor. But since he has the official title of M.D., my insurance pays for it. I have to pay a touch more for the natural advice, but it's well worth it! Thanks...
  12. Thank you, Tiffany.....glad I'm not a weirdo. Brenda
  13. Hi, I've received my results, and my doctor, on the bottom of the results wrote, "Definitely positive for celiac sprue. Would recommend gluten free diet." My IgA was a 26 (weak positive), and my IgG was a 90 (anything over 30 is a moderate to strong positive). Obviously, my doc sees no need to do a biopsy. Would you say that those test results are enough...
  14. Lillie, I'm new too, and have asked a bunch of questions. Don't feel bad....I think it's "normal." :-) I just wanted to say that I drink soy, but have been off of milk for almost three years (Just flat can NOT digest it). I've got the constipation problem too....and soy doesn't seem to make any difference at all, either way. Too much of anything is a bad...
  15. Can anyone tell me if they're sensitive to guar gum?? Anytime I eat something with it, my stomach just feels like it's lining has been ripped out, and it takes me at least four days to recover from it. It also has a laxative affect, but that's not as bad as the tummy. Maybe the tummy sensitivity is because of my gastroparesis (a serious stomach condition...
  16. Thank you, Gretchen. I'd appreciate even a recipe!!
  17. Does anyone know of gluten free corn dogs? Ones that you can just buy in the store or online? I've got a craving!! :-) Thanks for any info. Brenda
  18. I also thought that Rice Dream was gluten-free, but heard that they use barley enzymes. :-( That was a bummer, but I did feel better after eliminating it from my diet. Sorry for the bad news, but hope that helps!! Brenda
  19. Hi, I am VERY interested in this issue. I've been gluten-free for about two weeks now, and would LOVE to get off of my Aciphex. But every time I try, my stomach feels like it's on fire. Sometimes I even have to take two a day. The odd thing is that if I sleep long enough to feel rested, the reflux is worse. Soy milk helps ease the discomfort, which is...
