Kimberly, I have long eyelashes too.

Yeah, I know about geographic tongue. But the descriptions that I've seen of it seem a little bit different than mine. So, who knows? Glad I'm not the only one with a weird tongue though. Mine changes when I don't feel well too. It's nice and flat everytime I feel good. As soon as I feel a little bit "off", it's back to being curly. Thanks for...

ARCHIVED David Sunflower Seeds/planters Chocolate Cashews
BRCoats posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Hi, I just ate both of them (feeling snacky) and kind of feel a reaction coming on. I was SURE both were gluten-free...now I'm not so sure. Does anyone know? Brenda P.S. The sunflower seeds are still in the shell. Could they have dusted them with flour?? I read the ingredients on the planters, and all looked gluten-free (they are owned by... -

ARCHIVED Band-aids: Transdermal Gluten Contamin?
BRCoats replied to Donna F's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I'm confused. If you cannot get gluten through putting it on your skin, then why look to see what's in lotion??? Or shampoo, etc.? I guess I can understand shampoo because that can get in your eyes and ears, and maybe even run into your mouth. But what about the other stuff? -
ARCHIVED Tuna Rice Casserole
BRCoats replied to BRCoats's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
GEF, I used to make that casserole all the time....before going gluten-free of course....sniff, sniff. I didn't mention it in the recipe, but I've thought of putting the frozen peas that I would put in the noodle recipe. Or you could even do corn. Just an afterthought..... Brenda -
This is something I've made up. I eat it because it doesn't have anything spicey and always sits well. 2 Cups Minute Rice - cooked with salt and pepper and gluten-free boullion to taste. I usually add a little bit of butter to prevent any sticking. 2 large cans tuna (whichever brand you prefer) Butter Grated mild cheddar cheese Cook...

ARCHIVED Rooibis Tea
BRCoats replied to BRCoats's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Sorry about the misspelling. The correct spelling is Rooibos. Brenda -
Hi all, Just wanted to share my new find of the day. Celestial Seasonings has a tea called Madagascar Vanilla Red. It's ingredients are Rooibos (pronounced "roy-bus"), natural French vanilla, and vanilla bean. Says right on the bottom that's it's gluten free too. Anyway, I just poured a cup, and it is REALLY yummy!!! So if you're bored of your same ol...

ARCHIVED Cal-mag Fizz
BRCoats replied to BRCoats's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Feel silly responding to my own message, but I decided to go ahead and email the company. Below is their response. "Thank you for you interest in CalMag Fizz! Yes, CalMag Fizz is Gluten Free. Please let me know if there is anything else I can help you with." However, I would like to know if anyone else has tried it. Did it help you feel... -
Does anyone know if Cal-Mag FIZZ is gluten-free? The only thing I see on the ingredients that is questionable is "natural flavors"? If you don't know, it's basically a supplement powder that you put in your juice. I found it at Vitamin Cottage (my second home). Brenda

Here's a stupid one for you..... My son drinks rice milk (Rice Dream - yes, I know it's not gluten-free....neither is he). I drink soy milk. Since I am the only one who drinks the soy milk, I just drink it right out of the jug. Well, Rice Dream and my soy milk look quite a bit a like, and I went to take a swig of soy, and got the wrong jug!! I don't...

taneil, Thanks for the recipe!! It sounds delicious. I had wondered about the lack of bulk in recipes that call for stevia. Adapting sounds kind of hard....but worth a try. That's a great idea to substitute coconut for sugar. I love coconut! I have seen that book for sale online. I will most likely purchase it at some point....after I try a few...

ARCHIVED Reese's......the Small Ones
BRCoats replied to celiac3270's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Hmm....could it have changed since Easter??? Now I'm confused!!! celiac3270, I hope you didn't get sick from eating them! I eat them with no problem, and I'm pretty sensitive. Brenda -
Stevia is an herb that is used as a sweetener. But it doesn't have the negative side effects that artificial sweeteners have. It's ten times sweeter than sugar, but does not raise blood sugar levels at all. A great find for those of us that really need to watch our sugar levels. :-) Brenda

ARCHIVED Reese's......the Small Ones
BRCoats replied to celiac3270's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
celiac3270, The small pb cups are gluten-free. I eat them with no problems (and I believe that info is on the delphiforum). I don't know about the others you've mentioned. Happy eating. :-) Brenda -
My tongue is getting its tastebuds back. I hadn't realized I lost them, but I looked in the mirror the other day, and noticed them perking back up. Has anyone else had that experience? I've been gluten-free for about two months...with a few oopsies. Also, ever since I got REALLY sick, my tongue curls on the sides. The only time it's not curly is when...

Has anyone had any experience with Stevia? Do you cook with it? I just discovered it a few days ago...I knew about it, but had never tried it. When I looked it up on the net, I discovered it nourishes the pancreas and actually helps stabilize blood sugar. WOW!! What a find!! :-) If you've cooked with it, how did the recipes turn out?? ARCHIVED What Has Helped You Heal?
BRCoats replied to BRCoats's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
calico jo, Thanks for all the info you posted. I thought the acid info was particularly interesting. I have terrible acid problems with my stomach....but if I eat vinegar, (pickles), it just makes it worse. However, I haven't eaten pickles since going gluten-free....so maybe it was the gluten?? I'm so sensitive, I'm scared to try just taking a swig of... -

Ok, I'll let you know if I can get the website to work. Let us know if you find anything out also. Brenda -
Plantime, The herb I am on is gynema sylvestre. It supposedly does the same thing as metformin/glucophage that docs put diabetics on. The reason my doc put me on it is because i have polycystic ovarian syndrome. If you have that, then you are also most likely insulin resistant. They are putting women with pos on these insulin drugs, and it is getting...

ARCHIVED Gf Teas
BRCoats replied to BRCoats's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Tiffany, I left the question "open" like that because I wanted a wide variety of answers. I like the health benefits of green tea, but can't handle the caffeine...or the taste really. So I usually (before going gluten-free) would mix the green tea with some other flavored tea so that I couldn't taste it. I love peppermint tea, echinacea is wonderful... -
Can anyone tell me of a good gluten-free tea that is also decaf (flavored or unflavored)? Thanks for any suggestions. Brenda

But I wouldn't think the insurance would pay for that if you didn't have a prescription from the doc. ?? You know what happened to me today? I was washing my dishes, and I started getting really bad intestinal cramps, then my ovaries started hurting really bad, then I started shaking, then I felt like I was going to pass out, then I thought I was going...
