  1. Awesome, I'm not diagnosed, but I wake up in the morning and there's no running for the bathroom... which is still bizarre to me! It took about the same amount of time for D to leave me, 4-5 days, and as long as I avoid gluten, it seems to keep working. I'm glad it has worked well for you, I hope you are out enjoying life! I intend to. =) I've missed...
  2. Yes, from what I understand they had been depending on their host to do it. That's a sticky situation, because if they don't, you really have no recourse, i mean, in that you can't get the data back. But, looks like you guys do an excellent job of it.
  3. Oh also, can you go back in time to about 2006, and send me a PM telling me that I should start avoiding gluten. =) Hehehe, actually, since you are going back already, go back to about 1999. =) Yes, this advice is still more than valid. It isn't the answer to everything, but if you've got the time, do spread the word. It's relatively unknown...
  4. This is like 2 years old I know, but being a long time veteran of IBS and ibsgroup.org, I would highly suggest those people at least try a gluten free diet. Only a few weeks of it has been a huge success for me. When I first joined ibsgroup.org, probably about 7+ years ago (?), I was just swamped with all sort of solutions, from enzymes to herbs, people...
  5. Yes, unless they run off the same hard drive, I doubt it was the same issue, who knows though.
  6. Nice recovery, you are king for being vigilante about backups. =) What's weird, is ibsgroup.org went down about the same time, except they lost about 5 months of data. I guess just coincidental, but it was odd, the only two boards I've been reading both go down, doh. I'm glad you got it back up though, really good work. Backups are not always easy...
  7. This is a little off-topic, but when I was diagnosed with IBS about 9-10 years ago, I found a place called Great Smokies Laboratories, or something like that. They did a stool test for bacterial overgrowth. Mine actually came back pretty close to normal, but it had some information in that I thought would be pertinent to my GI at the time. He glanced at...
  8. I don't have any diagnosed celiacs in the family, but I suspect it some. At any rate, I stumbled upon a gluten free diet and suddenly felt better. I talked with the doctor and decided I did not want to eat gluten for 2 months and THEN see if it shows up in blood or not. So, I am taking a genetic test, in hopes that will rule it out, or give me risk potential...
  9. I'm not positive, but the allergist I went to did skin tests. The only thing I was allergic to in those skin tests was Hops. But, I don't think that really equates to food allergies. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong... but for instance, they don't just put gluten on your skin and see if you react, because that isn't where the reaction takes place...
  10. Thanks, I am slowly feeling better. This is going to be quite a challenge, assuming it is the gluten that is doing it. Being off it for a while, and then every time I get sick, I can tie it directly back to eating gluten. This has happened several times, so it has to be something. I need some answers after about 10 years of this... anyway... good luck...
  11. Ok, so one more question... I've been gluten free for several months, and was feeling waaaay better. (Dx'd with IBS, but through process of elimination went gluten light, then accidentally gluten free, then re-challenge(s) seemed to point to gluten.) Anyway, Saturday I ate some gluten filled food. Other than that incident, I have not eaten gluten that...
  12. Thanks a lot for the info, I appreciate it. I think I'll take both of your advice and just stick to the things I know don't make me sick for now. I'm glad this forum is here, I have no clue whether I have celiac or a sensitivity or anything, but after almost 10 years of being sick every day, this gluten free diet has had a more drastic effect than all...
  13. Actually, same day I ate Sushi, with imitation crab. I am now reading that was bad. Considering my gluten free diet has had me from EXTREME IBS back to normality in short order, and the only deviation I've had from it was chips and sushi, and I am still sick, like 3 days later... I'm thinking gluten. Unless just starch in general can do that? Anyone...
  14. Sorry, wrong forum. I meant to put this in pre-diagnosis, not post.
  15. So, I'm waiting for my genetic test. Long story short, been of gluten too long to do anything but gene test, not going back. Simple question is, I feel quite bad when I eat tostitos bite sized chips. I believe the site said they are gluten free. I'm still not sure if it's JUST gluten, or perhaps resistant starches in general. Does anyone else have...
  16. It seems like the genetic testing should be ok. I mean, there are well known labs that look for the same genes, so that part of his research is not really out of the mainstream is it?
  17. This whole thread bothers me, because I went gluten free, well newb, so as close as I can get, and it has helped me tremendously so far. I've almost completely stopped taking the boatload of opiates for IBS and all the related symptoms. But I stumbled on the gluten free diet by elimination. So, by the time I figured out the reason I was feeling better...
  18. I don't think blood work means anything if you have not eaten gluten in several months. I was told you had to eat quite a bit at least 6 weeks preceding the test.
  19. Will do, I could stand to cut some carbs. I do drink coke, but I went off it for a long time and had no noticeable improvement, so I keep it. I do take a lot of fiber, should have added that, as part of the IBS treatment, it's never done much good though, I basically take it now because of all the studies that show it has all sorts of health benefits. ...
  20. Thanks for the info. I don't want to go back to eating gluten again, I discussed this with the GI. The problem is, if I have to eat wheat for 6 weeks, I'll have to go way back up on the medicines that slow motility, and will probably have trouble coming down off them... because of tolerance and because I get incredibly painful constipation when taking all...
  21. After being diagnosed with IBS and having symptoms for about 10 years, I'd really like to know if this is the answer. Through a long process of eliminating foods that made me feel ill (common for IBS I suppose) I stumbled across a simple diet that suddenly caused constipation, something I've never had in my life. So, I started looking at the foods, and...
