  1. It's also a very common allergy symptom. Mucus is what happens when the intestines are irriated. I am a self-proclaimed poop analysist in my house LOL We have several food allergic children with definite gluten sensitivities/intolerance or maybe celiac. Not sure.
  2. We've been doing WIC for about a year now for my last two little ones and for me when I was PG and nursing BUT we are avoiding soy, dairy, gluten and eggs A LOT of what they offer LOL and I've asked about being able to trade stuff out and I was told that they could not. I would just not pick the stuff up and I am at the loss. HOWEVER in my case, I am in...
  3. This is a good thread to read through, although I don't understand the numbers in the first several posts. I am normally off of gluten but I fall and become instantly addicted before I jump back on the gluten free wagon and within 20 min. I have stomach pain followed by gas cramps and terrible smelling gas. (sorry, had to go there) I also get neuro. symptoms...
  4. Oh I see now, thank you for that. Yes, I was diagnosed with IBS that is "cured" by going gluten-free. I tested neg through the blood test for celiac and quit there. I stay gluten free because it helps me in a number of ways, not just in the bowels.
  5. Your link doesn't work, what is it? He's allergic to dairy and wheat; they affect his intestines.
  6. She was investigating why my son would be bleeding intestinally and said that polyps could cause bleeding, she was also looking for any ulcers so initially she didn't see anything but when she did the biopsy and really looked closely she saw damage that she said was from food allergies. It got me to thinking about how she would know the difference between...
  7. Well, I think she was referring to any ulcers or polyps, etc. So it occured to me today, when talking to a friend about this, that I am now wondering what the visual difference would be so I thought I'd ask the experts here She's hard to get ahold of, I'm hoping there is a vast difference because if it's just damage to her through the microscope and maybe...
  8. So, my 2 year old son had his biopsy in November and the Dr saw no damage but she said that there still could be some that cannot be seen with the naked eye. She said there was damage to the intestines but from food allergies. Tell me, what would the difference be in damage? I didn't think about it until this morning so I didn't ask her.
  9. They did do stool samples and nothing came of them; all was normal. Blood was all normal except an egg allergy and low Vit. D levels. Now the scope looks normal and we are waiting on the biopsy to look closer. If that is normal I am assuming it's just how his body reacts to his allergens? I don't know. He's back to a gluten-free diet now because he...
  10. I am so wrapped up in daily life I forgot to post! He finally got to have the proceedure done on the 9th and nothing was found. OK. I have mixed feelings about this, one of relief that there wasn't any damage found with the NAKED eye and one of frustration because he still has suspicious bowel movements. Now, the biopsy results won't be back until the end...
  11. Well, I didn't expect anything to turn up positive with this as he doesn't have enough gluten in his system to make a positive test result. Not even close. The GI tested for all kinds of things by blood and stool (1 stool test hasn't come back yet) and the ONLY thing that came up was low Vit. D levels and he's allergic to egg whites. Other than that, nothing...
  12. We just got back from the GI's today and they took a ton of blood from him today I told her about the black poops and the red blood in the poops and she told me that with celiacs that doesn't happen but she'd test for it anyway. She doesn't think he has Celiacs but eosinophilic colitis so I don't know what to think anymore. I'm suppose to collect his...
  13. OH gosh, I cannot recall the name at this moment but it's Bio-something-er another LOL In the purple-ish box We try and use all natural stuff with no scents as we all have sensitive skin and various allergies. Nothing has changed other than the food. The rash is almost gone; yay! I'm interested to see what would happen if we eliminated again...
  14. Now that may be the case! I'm very interested to know what the doc says on Monday.
  15. Well, the only different thing we've done/eaten is playing around with dairy and gluten. We will be going gluten-free again soon after my 2 year olds appointment soon. Now this rash is coming a bit over a month after introducing these foods back into the diet. Our detergent hasn't changed (mind you this is mostly on his chest/tummy, some on his back, a...
  16. Thank you for your reply, I may never know what has caused this and it could also be environmental. I get sick of food issues around here, why can't we just eat whatever!
  17. Ok, I don't know much about this rash that celiacs have but I took my son off of gluten for 6 weeks and then 5 weeks ago I allowed it back in his diet in large amounts. The only thing I noticed was an increase in his bad behavioral problems until about a week or so ago where he had a huge, round and bumpy rash that was quite swollen on his wrist. Not only...
  18. Thank you everybody, I just second guess myself constantly. I just wonder why the accidental exposures are so much worse than the intentional exposures with MUCH more gluten? It's very strange.
  19. Ok, it's been a few weeks since I posted here about my 2 year old with what SEEMED like some pretty convincing Celiac symptoms so I made an appointment for him with Celiac specialist whom he will be visiting on Monday. Finally! We waited 5 weeks and during that 5 weeks my husband and I decided we'd feed him gluten but were scared at first. Well, he didn...
  20. My mother in law had her celiacs diagnosed by the rash.
  21. Hi Ryan, we are in Fauquier County, not sure where that is in relation to where you are but welcome. I'm rather new to this myself and seeking answers for me and my 2 year old son.
  22. I get that way when I eat gluten and it's horrible! I just recently went back on gluten so I could maybe get a diagnosis but it looks like I may quit and forget it all because my neurological symptoms are too intense and I cannot function to save my life! Forgetfulness, stuttering, severe chronic fatigue, ADD, OCD, etc. Time lapses and I have NO clue where...
  23. But wouldn't it be easier to apply iodine to the skin to check for a rash from it rather than the blood test or biopsy?
  24. I have no clue if you'd be interested in this or not but I use a Thai Crystal for my deodorant (not an anti-perspirant)and have had this ONE rock for over 3 years I have very sensitive skin and have used it during my 1 1/2 hour workouts in the gym with no smell afterwards. It's going to be gluten free
  25. Question about the idodine and DH: I've been doing a lot of reading here lately and many people were diagnosed with celiac disease just by having a diagnosis of DH so wouldn't this be an alternative test for celiac disease without the biopsy? Ignornat I am sure
