  1. Anyone out there who wants to lose weight? If you are out there it would be great to help each other keep on track.
  2. I went to the site but? A couple of years ago I read Russell Blaylock's MD "Excitotoxins" which was a fantastic book on brain damaging substances/excitotoxins like MSG and I will have to check the book for any info on this but how is TVP a form of MSG? I really can't tolerate MSG and just bought some gluten-free TVP. ?????? Please explain. Thanks
  3. I am wondering if there are two different kinds? I just bought Bob's Red Mill Brand of TVP and it has their registered Gluten Free symbol on the Package. I have not used it yet but I want to try some recipes for it and see it we like it. I wouldn't use any that wasn't labelled gluten free because of all the contraversy around it.

  8. I am still determined to lose weight. I am appreciate any weight loss thread of encouragement and want to pass it on. If you are on a restricted diet and want to give it a go let's do it. I am a gluten free 85% dairy free and vegan which means I spend a lot time looking up new recipes and making up recipes. I am unable to exercise right now but not forever...
  9. Thanks for info; I am wondering what to do with amaranth grain? I tried cooking it for a breakfast porridge once and it was sooo bitter my husband and I could not eat it! I am still open to trying it but??? I heard it was sweet tasting - but this was definitely not. I am in the dark on both amaranth grain and teff grain. thankyou
  10. Sorry to hear you had a reaction. I haven't been there - just a suggestion to consider - both the beans and the guacamole are listed as being made with spices and there could be either wheat or msg by another name in those. I don't know if msg bothers you we absolutely cannot have it; we both become so exhausted etc. If you or anyone else would like the...
  11. thanks Erin I will keep that in mind. Is it helpful having a support group? Are there meetings or? I have never been part of a support group so I am wondering how it might be. If you hear of any other good docs in the other areas i would appreciate any names thanks!
  12. I too would like to lose weight - I am a lifetime member of weight watchers and love their plan the hard time is we are moreorless gluten free vegans; Mostly dairy free except for a little manchego sheep cheese. After reading "The China Study" by Colin Campbell (s) (father and son) we keep any animal protein to 10% of our diet. Back to the diet - It is difficult...
  13. I too am interested in using sweet potato flour - Found a recipe at http://milkforthemorningcake.blogspot.com/...tta-breads.html and tried it - Sweet potato pitta breads - both of us liked it. The recipe calls for both cooked sweet potato and the flour as well. I didn't have any flour so i subsituted corn starch for the sweet potato flour and used brown...

    ARCHIVED Denver Doctors Anyone?

We are relocating soon to Denver Metro area and will be needing to fine good medical help. I am obviously gluten free but through a naturpath and she has been a godsend. Also I have had good pain docs - Osteopath/MD to manage and other specialists like accupuncture healing work and a doc that does injections/neurotomies for spinal issues. If you have had...
  15. This reply serves two purposes Hope you can enjoy this recipe and I couldn't find where I had put a topic on buns and someone asked for a recipe so I hope they find it too. I bought The Gluten Free Gourmet Bakes Bread by the late GR Guru Bette Hagman last November when my husband and I had to make our diet changes. I have enjoyed everything I've made so...
  16. FYI: A very informative book on splenda, and other artificial sweeteners by Russell Blaylock MD called Excitotoxins and you can go to excitotoxins.com It is amazing that most diabetics are encouraged to use these unhealthy products and a shame have to research to find out what's wrong with our food. 60 B or Million a year is made on articifial sweetener...
  17. I have a friend that is diabetic so I have a little knowledge don't know if this will help but.. Since a diabetic has to watch their sugars then baking a recipe with say stevia or xylitol to sweeten it allows them to have something possibly. Stevia is so incredibly sweet I believe 300 to 1 stevia to sugar so a little goes a long way. For example make some...
  18. 1. I am wondering when you grind the quinoa do you rinse it first or toast it to get rid of the bitter coating?

  21. Thank you so much for all of your replies - I am overwhelmed at the support and equally grateful to have this site. I have lots of ideas to try for my buns now . I hope to have some buns done this week. My husband is excited to have found a new gluten free beer to have with that burger - Green's Discovery - an all natural amber ale made from millet, rice...
  22. I belong to the c club! i too was wondering! Previously teacher - on a sabbatical ? or life change
  23. I have been seeing a wonderful Naturpath - hubby and I both had a saliva test for a few things plus gliadin. I have been tested 2 or 3 times for other reasons and i have had a 12 then a 10 my husband was a 12. I asked her do I really have a gluten problem I mean I was only a 10 and.. it is a huge life change- she was adamant that I did and that I should be...
  24. I opened my Bette Hagman's Baking Bread Cookbook so excited to make some Hamburger Buns (Bread so far recipes turn out great in the Bread Machine) ! Only one issue - gluten-free dough is thinner and needs shaping and I am instructed to use Hamburger Buns which apparently are the same as Muffin Rings though I can't seem to find them! Anyone made round buns...
