  1. MIMOMMY- Thank you so much for the post. It was very encouraging and much needed. I am still in awe of how simple just switching to a gluten-free diet has changed our lives for the better. I was actually talking to a celiac parent at trader joes and she asked about my little man and was dumb founded at what I was saying because it was describing her son...
  2. Yeah I think I am going to have to go back to volunteering again. I skipped the last 3 parties so my boys would not get use to me at all the parties when they are in K. (son is a twin) Until I am confident he can handle any situation and have all the ground rules set. I have not talked to him about his behavior and cutting being off because of the gluten...
  3. Thank you for the responses. He is back to his gluten-free self again. (thank the maker) I do have an emergency snack and treat bucket at school for him. They have been really good at snack time on giving it to him. I also sent a special plate of food for his valentines lunch. He has been gluten free for alittle over a month now with wonderful progress...
  4. Today was a very good day. We did not go in public, but I think he would have been good. Usually gets distacted at stores. I think another day and I will have my gluten free son back. I feel so bad for him, I know it has to be miserable. i also hope he learned his lesson. Doubt it but, who didnt want to fit in at school when they were young.
  5. I have a son with major behavior problems when eats gluten. We have been very strict with a gluten free diet. On Valentines day he glutend himself on cookies. (5 years old) He got them with some valentines and did not show them to me. We have had major set backs. The first few days his fine motor skills suffered tremendously and his behavior started...
  6. I had a cruddy Valentines for my son also. He is 5 and we made a red and white plate of food for him to eat (string cheese, jello, strawberry, grapes ect) He did great until all the kids won mm cookies for playing a game. It broke his heart when he could not eat it. What can you say. All you can do is be there. Then he snuck off and ate the cookies any...
  7. I started the celiac diet before testing, I did not care if the test was neg or not. The diet helped tremendously. So I headed to the doc one week later (last week) and gave him a list of blood work i wanted ran. He told me that vit deficiencys only happen in menopause woman and geriatrics. (im 28), Got a phone call today that all my test came back normal...
  8. Is a b-12 deficiency normal with Celiacs?
  9. has anyone had their vitamin levels checked. I know b12 can mess with your brain when low. Just a thought
  10. I email scott last night asking permission to start a cookbook, I hope he goes for it. I think it could benifit alot of people.
  11. That makes complete sense. Has anyone ever gone from eating horrible, to healthy. Its not fun the first week. (Like a new years resolution. ) He is starting to form up finally. I was actually impressed, my son and I catch every little cold that is going around the preschool and for some reason everyone but him caught it this time. May be a sign his...
  12. Please pm me with it at some point momma goose. I would love to email him and ask, whats the worst he could say NO! no harm in trying. Then I will try and figure out different things on getting the word out. first thing first, please pm me. THANKS
  13. Does celiac.com have a members cookbook? You know all of our favorite recipies for adult and kids? If not I think we should put one together, as maybe a fundrasier for celiac research or something. Just a thought. I would trust a cookbook by different people who actually have to eat the food on a daily basis than one person who I may not share the same...
  14. I did not read through all of this thread, but thought I could add to it. Once a letter is fully put together, why not have multiple people send the same letter daily, if you receive no response by a certain amount of time. Im sure it would get old and force a response at some point. just a thought
  15. My 6 year old has some medical trouble and at 1 he was in physical therepy. I was talking to the therepist about diet and all and she said all the therepist there eat organic meat and milk. When I ask why (wish I would not have) she stated that they see at least 1 new patient every 6 months that is going through early puberty and the one that did it for...
  16. Thank god I am not crazy! It is swollen just enough for my ring not to come off but like everyone says it goes away. My doc says it can be a sign of Lupus though. But I do not trust him very much anyway. I told him to please run any test he thought I needed. (Plus a big list of blood test I gave him) I figured I rather get all the test ran at once versus...
  17. So we have been gluten free for a little over a week. My sons fine motor skills are improving drastically. I am so happy I could cry. He also is startiing to not feel like sand paper all over his skin. To beleive I struggled and fought for close to 6 years and all it took was a diet change. Do not get me wrong the road is long, but to see soooo much...
  18. Since going gluten free, I started having swollen hands when I wake up. After an hour or so they are better, they are not swollen huge. I use to get this when I had to much salt. I guess you can say they are more sore than swollen. Just curious if anyone else had this.
  19. Thank you I will look at it I thought it was the list of doctors from the Celiac site. Sorry Thanks again quote name='Momma Goose' date='Feb 6 2009, 07:46 AM' post='508612'] The link that I sent you are Celiac Support Leaders in the area that you requested. They are not doctors. They can direct you to doctors in your area with experience.
  20. Thank you for posting this thread. I am actually going through the exact same thing. I was gluten free for 3 days and feeling great, then I got glutend and have not been the same since. I am actually narrowing it down to corn and possible milk. Not to shocking the milk, but the corn will be hard especially since alot of gluten free is made from corn. ...
  21. I have a problem with 2 of those doctors. Like I have said in other post, my family has a history of autoimmune disorders and my mother saw 2 of I think 4 of them and it was not pretty. Thank you for the post though. I would like to find a good primary also. As everyone here knows that is hard.
  22. i understand the anger part, ihave been struggleing with it for awhile now. ithink when i get angry if there is someone who I have the least bit dislike for ( especially in my family) I take it horrible. I am not saying I am wrong but my anger is strong but getting better. Good luck and stay strong. quote name='sandejosgirl' date='Feb 5 2009,...
  23. any good docs in st. louis or surrounding areas, or any idea how to find one that is good with auto immune issues?
  24. Good luck with this, I know it has got to be hard even to post a thread like this. I hope you figure out what is going on. I would not be ashamed to ask your doctor though. Hang in there. You could named the spider, that might help lighten up a hard situation. Good luck.
  25. I figured I would start the diet no matter what because I could not get off the couch anymore. I have 3 small children and I could not even take them to school half the time. It was ruining our lives. My doctor gave me a month to wait for an apointment because it had been going on so long and it was not an emergency. I will be having a scope no matter...
