  1. There's another thread on this very same discussion. I don't know where exactly it's located now. But I posted a really informative link on gluten sensitivity and intimacy when your partner isn't allergic.
  2. Thank you for this reply. I'm going to look into all that you've mentioned.
  3. You can really easily make your own almond butter... it will be much cheaper and guaranteed gluten-free! Just toss a few handfuls of almonds in a food processor and slowly stream in canola oil. I think if you have problems with Candida, you should avoid peanuts. They're very yeasty and it can make people react.
  4. Thank you
  5. Also, even if you find a doctor that "believes" in yeast overgrowth, they'll probably only think it can lead to intestinal pain like constipation. When in fact, we have yeasts covering EVERY mucous membrane (eyes, mouth, nose, genitals) as well as our intestines and skin. Yeast overgrowth can probably occur anywhere. Just keep in mind that the mainstream...
  6. read this!!!: Open Original Shared Link It's funny because I just read it a few days ago. It talks about kissing, etc. etc. when you have a food allergy and your date does not. Very interesting!
  7. I would say, use ingredients that everyone is familiar with. I think when we use "alternative" ingredients in our gluten-free cooking, it scares people away. It makes them think it's disgusting or foreign, or just plain scary. I think when you can create yummy foods with ingredients that everyday people without food allergies are familiar with, they won...
  8. I think I may have figured this out. I was reading up on Addison's. I think I have something related to Addison's called Polyglandular Autoimmune Syndrome type 1. I will be getting tested for it. I'm not in the habit of self-diagnosing, so I can not be sure as of yet. But I feel hopeful because it explains so so much, after all these years. It's making...
  9. Oh good. And by the way everyone, you can use the cashew butter recipe as a blank batter (just omit the chocolate chips). So, you could try adding raisins or nuts or who knows what. The cashews don't taste like nuts in this recipe, they just taste buttery so they're a really great blank canvas.
  10. For this recipe, I've done it both ways and either tastes good. Basically, I just let the food processor go for a while and let it get as smooth as possible, but there will inevitably still be a few chunks. But I guess what you're looking for is a more smooth texture, and if there are a few chunks left it's fine.
  11. To make cashew butter, I just buy cashews (roasted and salted or whatever you can find is fine) and place a few handfuls in a food processor. Then, slowly stream in Canola oil (it's important to not use an oil like olive oil because it has a strong flavor), until the mixture starts coming together and has the consistency of peanut butter. And voila -- that...
  12. Okay, I was just experimenting with the above recipe and came across a cool (and yummy) variation. I created a chocolate chip cookie that tasted just like "the real" thing, and it doesn't employ any of the alternative flours or alternative ingredients, which makes it really simple and convenient. And just like the above recipe, it's still gluten-free and...
  13. Another Southwest FL gluten-free restaurant: Vertoris Pizza Open Original Shared Link I've never actually been here but I drove past it today and then looked them up online, and they have a whole list of gluten-free foods and the ingredients that they use to prepare them. Obviously, it's an Italian restaurant, so the incidence of cross-contamination...
  14. Just wanted to let you all in Southwest Florida (Sarasota/Tampa area) that there's a great restaurant in Sarasota that is completely gluten-free. It's an all-raw food restaurant called Vibe Cuisine. Here's the website: www.veggiemagic.com . Don't let the all-raw thing scare you... they make tasty variations on our favorite foods. They have a menu on the...
  15. CaraLouise, Yeah, the inner ear disorder/disease is what I mentioned in the first post I made here. It's called M
  16. I will definitely look further into the PROgreens. It does say that everything is derrived from gluten-free sources. Wheat grass is actually gluten-free even though it seems like it wouldn't be. I got that information from "Living Gluten-Free For Dummies". Alfalfa grass shouldn't contain gluten either, but I will look further into the barley grass. From...
  17. Hi there. I made a posting in this forum with a peanut butter cookie recipe that is gluten-free and dairy-free. It does contain eggs and I am not familiar with substituting with a no-egg product in place of the real thing. But, check out that recipe -- there's no flours (potato starch, soy flour, etc.). And you can mix it up to include cocoa powder...
  18. Thank you very very much! I appreciate that advice! I will definitely look into all of that -- especially the Addison's. The only thing is that I have some of those symptoms, but not all... so just like the other illnesses I have, it may not be a clear-cut diagnosis. Everything is always so vague for me. Any other ideas are greatly appreciated...
  19. I have been getting daily dizzy spells, well, since adolescence. I'm not passing out or blacking out or falling over myself onto the floor... nothing dramatic. I just mean that I get very lightheaded, but just enough so that I can still function fine. I have Hashimoto's and problems with Candida and am also gluten-free. I eat extremely healthy (no allergens...
  20. This is a really yummy peanut butter cookie recipe that I've made before. I'm not eating sugar or nuts these days, but it's a really great recipe I wanted to share with you all. I love this recipe because it doesn't contain any "alternative" flours or ingredients and also, people who aren't gluten-free/dairy-free love them. Ingredients: (makes...
  21. Unfortunately, I feel like I'm an expert on this topic -- not because I have all research or medical knowledge, but because I have alot of firsthand experience. A few things could be going on with the oral Candida: 1. sore throat 2. a white layer on film on the tongue or other areas of the mouth 3. open ulcer 4. red bumps (i have these on the back...
  22. Excuse my frankness, but I'm pretty sure there is a poop test that can be administered. You should really go out and buy this book: "The Yeast Connection and Women's Health" by Dr. Crook. It outlines all of the problems and diseases associated with Candida and also outlines a few tests that can be performed to see if you indeed have an overgrowth. Also...
  23. Okay, so I've read this entire thread and I'm really intrigued. I started doing the oil pulling two days ago. I'm really curious to see what happens. I don't have any fillings/cavities or other dental work, so I think I'm in no danger of any harm. I'll keep you all updated! I'm so glad I came across this... I'd never heard of it before. BTW...
  24. Yeah, I think you have some good points here. I think the difference is that I'm basing my ideas off of "The Yeast Connection" by Dr. Crook and AliB, you're is basing your info on the SCD. Although they may advocate many of the same things, there are some dissenting ideas. With "The Yeast Connection" diet, you're told to avoid foods that contain fungus...

    ARCHIVED Fasting

This is an interesting idea... I guess I've never thought about it before. I would have to say that it makes me nervous because the body really needs nutrients to function, especially since you're talking about an entire week here. I don't think I'd ever be able to go a week. I do know, however, that juice fasts are very popular and successful. When I...
