ARCHIVED Anyone Else With...
SLB5757 posted a topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I guess this would be one of my main symptoms after I eat wheat. Its almost as if my bowels completely shut down for four days (sometimes three), followed by a day or two of going to the bathroom three times or more, and then it returns to normal again. It is a very noticeable pattern. Of course I get very anxious, extremely tired, almost feel like I have... -
Yes...the multiple allergies are a pain in the behind. I feel like every day is a battle trying to figure out what and when I will be able to eat next!
-
I would have never thought to check my TUMS...I certainly will now. Thank you!! I always get the plain white TUMS and sometimes the TUMS ultra...always in original flavor. But I will check. I eat out too much bc of a hectic schedule, and I need to become much better at cooking or bringing my food everywhere. I eat at least 1-2 meals out daily right now. ...

I know my "most likely"'s have gotten me in trouble, but sometimes I feel like I must risk it. To be quite honest I am told my issue is a wheat/rye/barley/oats allergy not "intolerance". They also told me I have an allergy to corn, soy, potato, tomato, beans, lots of nuts, celery, carrot, most fruits...etc. SO...I chose to eliminate gluten grains and still...

I know...silly mistake to eat there but 1) I am not diagnosed Celiac....just with alot of Allergies at this point. I have eliminated gluten for at least 5 months or so now and have been following the rules fairly well, although I eat out alot and then run a cross contamination risk. Two nights ago after working out with a friend she asked if I wanted...

ARCHIVED Allergy Test Confusion?
SLB5757 replied to JessicaHall's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Jessica, My allergy tests were IGE Rasts for allergies. They first did skin testing and then followed it up by having blood drawn (IGE Rasts) just to be certain of my allergies. The blood tests are to be more accurate. I can say however that I had numerous tests that were high positives, and I still consume the foods. If the food does not cause you... -
Unfortunately I live in a semi small place called Findlay Ohio. We only have the one Steakhouse. I called them and the gal who answered was helpful saying she would check with the check and call me back but could only offer that it was regular hibachi sauce and noodles. She ended up calling me back to state that the hibachi sauce is Soy sauce and Terriyaki...

OK guys - need help here. My boyfriend and I have decided to take my 10 year old daughter to a Japanese Steakhouse tonight so she can watch the food being cooked on the Hibachi grill. She absolutely loves this place and it is really a treat since it is so expensive and we don't go often. I am the only person Gluten-Free and would love for her to be able...

ARCHIVED Celiac And Major Allergies, What Do I Eat?
SLB5757 replied to Cessairskye's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I always just thought Lasagna was out of the question. I love potatos - never thought of making it with potatoes - thanks for that idea. Thanks!! I have been sticking to grilled lean meats and steamed veggies. Would love some variation that isn't too veggie and fruit heavy since I have so many allergies. This would be a goo done to try. -
ARCHIVED Any Chance Their Is Gluten In :

I will try that Jean's...thank you. I am only about 110 lbs now but I am very sedentary because I sit all day at work then all night at home because of my studies. I should exercise for sure, and know I do not eat any raw fruits and veggies due to allergies so I should try something to eliminate some of the constipation type of issues. Now this may... -
I am also in a newer relationship. Started dating in July of this year. My boyfriend is super supportive of whatever diet I try to do to make me feel better. He has been the one up with me on nights at 2 AM when I swore to him I was dieing because pain was so severe. He would do anything if it meant I wouldn't have to have even a minute of pain, so asking...

ARCHIVED Celiac And Major Allergies, What Do I Eat?
SLB5757 replied to Cessairskye's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
So sorry to hear you are having trouble finding out what foods to eat. I am in the same boat as you with the multiple allergies. I have tested positive (4++) to Wheat, Rye, Barley, Oats, Soy, Corn, Potato, Tomato, Beans, Carrots, Most Nuts, Most fruits, just too many to list ;( I was told by my allergist that eliminating the gluten may resolve the others... -
Why not use Listerine? It is gluten free - right? I use Sensodyne ProNamel and Listerine daily. If these contain gluten then that is why I am still having so many issues! I thought I googled these and learned that they were fine though. Hmmmm.

ARCHIVED Any Chance Their Is Gluten In :
SLB5757 replied to SLB5757's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
With me it just seems like everything hurts my stomach one way or another. I eliminated gluten and it has helped alot but I still have pain 80 percent of the day. Id love to do the "just eat whole foods" routine but some of us have multiple food sensitivities unfortunately. I can't eat raw fruits or veggies at all - haven't in years due to itching and bumps... -

SLB5757 replied to SLB5757's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Thank you Ahorsesoul. I will try eliminating those three for now. Very tired of daily tummy pains here or there. Even a Halls cough drop seemed to give me a pain (gas from sucking it maybe). I only had white rice and grilled chicken for lunch, and for breakfast a cup of peaches and a few of these crispy rice crackelbred things (which I now see have soy as... -

I am sure it is a lactose reaction...I didn't think it was the fruity pebbles themselves - but probably the milk I had in it. Who knows - Im just a mess when it comes to foods/multiple allergies. -

I would put Peanut Butter on Natural Nectar's gluten free cracklebred. Its kind of like having toast....(that's really stretching it - but I can tell myself that).

I have been gluten free only for a week now. My terrible bloating after eating, need to constantly eat, and general feeling like I was going to die from constant stomach issues has went away. I still have acid reflux type issues, but had a general question for the board as to what they think my problem may have been last night. I know this is not a healthy...

ARCHIVED Low Cbc Levels
SLB5757 replied to SLB5757's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I really think my doctors are going to let me die before they figure out what is truly the problem. I specifically asked them to check my Thyroid and to check if I had low iron, so why did they only check the cbc levels and not the ferritin or whatever else needed checked for Iron? Now I woke up with a locked jaw...I am just seriously not having a good... -
I see a GASTRO on 12/8, and am hoping he will do an endo to rule in/rule out celiac. So far I had negative bloodwork by a family MD, positive allergy RAST testing to wheat, Rye, Barley, and Oats, and my CBC just came back with four low levels: WBC - 4.4 RBC - 3.79 HGB - 11.6 HCT - 33.8 None of these are TERRIBLY low, so maybe it was coincidence,...

ARCHIVED Ttg Iga
SLB5757 replied to SLB5757's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Yes, I agree - it could mean what you have stated. That's why I wanted someone else to look at it. I think I am grasping at anything here. There is no way someone can live in daily pain. I feel like I am literally in the twilight zone and am so close to having everything in my life fall to pieces because I cannot keep the charade up any longer. I am in pain... -
ARCHIVED Ttg Iga
SLB5757 replied to SLB5757's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Thanks Elle. I just found it wierd. I have classic Celiac symptoms but tests show the super-low TTg-IgA numbers. I thought that .3 the first time was low, and after eating gluten for 2 and a half months it only went up to a .8. It was two different doctors ordering the tests so I am going to take it to my gastro in December (soonest available) and ask him... -
My doctor who is an allergist, not a gastro ran only two of what seems to be the recommended celiac blood panel. The TTG - IGA test was a .8 with <4 being negative. My question is this: Would a TTG IGA score that low (lower than 1) mean that I may be IGA deficient and it wouldn't show positive ever? Alot of celiac panel results of negative...

ARCHIVED Just Had Another Lovely Visit With A Gastro
SLB5757 replied to AlexJ72's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Sounds like many I have encountered before. "Eat More Fiber", "You are a healthy young person", dah dah dah. I do think that an endo would be beneficial in ruling out celiac or other possibilities though. It is virtually painless considering most of the time you are put asleep. I had no pain when I had one done in 2006. I will tell you that if you want to...
