ARCHIVED Gluten Free Didn't Solve All My Issues
Nadia2009 replied to Nadia2009's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Thats great you feel better and can eat more things now. But I am wondering why so many people have gallbladder problems now or was it always like that? I just learned my cousin had it out too and another person I know went to the emergency room due to pain this week but she was told she has gallstones. -
ARCHIVED Gluten Free Didn't Solve All My Issues

This is a fine indictment of our medical specialists. They can't walk and chew gum at the same time Give them more than one symptom and they freak out. I guess nobody ever told them in medical school that things weren't going to be black or white. I have a medical problem that I have a pretty good handle on in my own mind, but the "experts" keep buzzing... -
ARCHIVED GAPS Diet For The Poor?
Nadia2009 replied to Strawberry-Jam's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
If gaps is a sort of paleo diet with probiotics, can I just add probiotics to my paleo diet with the same benefits? I am not able to do all the work of making my own nut better dry seeds and ferment food right now. On the paleo diet, beans are not allowed and I am a bit sorry for myself, I like to incorporate some beans and wondering if it would help to ferment... -

I stopped taking the probiotics thinking I... -
ARCHIVED Gluten Free Didn't Solve All My Issues

Thank you very much gluten-free free overseas. I just got back from the doctor and he sent me for a GB ultrasound. But as soon as he knew I was gluten intolerant, he told me I should consult a GI and that my case is too complicated...he meant stool and other things. He also said that stool color doesn't mean anything but that doctors look for other signs... -

Hello Gluten-Free friends, I haven't been here often lately. I even missed celebrating with you my second anniversary of going gluten free (Sept 21). ARCHIVED Heartburn Every Morning
Nadia2009 replied to Rick-O-Shay's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I don't have morning reflux but I can have very bad ones during the day. Here is what helped me. I take in the morning first thing two tablespoons of apple cider vinegar (organic unfiltered with the mother) with double the amount of water...some people add half teaspoon of baking soda. Maybe since you already have another condition you could dilute a bit... -
ARCHIVED Where To Find Gluten Free (Tapioca) Wraps?
Nadia2009 posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Do you know where I can find tapioca wraps? I just watched a video on gluten free samosa. At 7:30 she is talking about the tapioca flour. If you happen to live in the twin cities, let me know where I can find asian food market or grocery stores. -
ARCHIVED African Americans And Celiac Disease
Nadia2009 replied to Bravie's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
That's very interesting. I can understand they are adding more information on new groups. Here is a website I found while goggling on sickle cell* Open Original Shared Link that link shows that the genetic variations existing in Europe and Asia are already present in Africa but the later has other variations not found in Asia Europe. And these variations... -
ARCHIVED African Americans And Celiac Disease
Nadia2009 replied to Bravie's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
This is an old discussion but it is interesting. I am gluten intolerant and I am African originally from Eastern Africa. Our people don't have awareness of this disease but it doesnt mean it is present. For the last two years, I have been talking to friends and family about celiac disease and since then, I am learning it might under diagnosed in some African... -

ARCHIVED Swollen Fingers, Arthritis/lupus?
Nadia2009 replied to Nadia2009's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
The pain I have lately makes it hard to walk the few blocks I always did or take the stairs but things got after I had a few sessions of chiropractor and acupuncture. I have to make sure I dont get glutened again. I guess that for gluten intolerance the best medicine is STAYING GLUTEN FREE. Maybe I didn't feel the benefit of these different therapies because... -
ARCHIVED Swollen Fingers, Arthritis/lupus?
Nadia2009 replied to Nadia2009's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I am also low on vit D but thought it wasn't so bad I was at lower acceptable level too close to deficiency the last time I checked. But I take about 2000iu daily so hoping it is fixed...maybe one last testing wouldn't hurt. Your doctor reminds me of mine. He would have been "happy" a year ago if I had let him file my case as fatigue and depression my... -
ARCHIVED Swollen Fingers, Arthritis/lupus?
Nadia2009 replied to Nadia2009's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
So this is definitely glutening for most of us. But did you have pain when your fingers were swollen. I have pain in my fingers and all around my body but mostly articulations. The pain isn't too bad (or I am just too used to it?) but I also have another issue specific to me: I have a misalignement that makes me feel I am carrying my own legs. -
ARCHIVED Swollen Fingers, Arthritis/lupus?
Nadia2009 replied to Nadia2009's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I usually wake up with swollen fingers and it decreases and goes away within a few hours. I may be drinking more at night time too. I eat more proteins than before going gluten-free but I dont always maintain it. -
ARCHIVED Swollen Fingers, Arthritis/lupus?

Yes, I had gluten in my diet too often for the last 3 months. Maybe I became more relaxed about my diet after I celebrated my first year of gluten free life. -
ARCHIVED Swollen Fingers, Arthritis/lupus?
Nadia2009 replied to Nadia2009's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I know some medication cause photo sensitivity but in my case maybe it is just linked to migraines and sinus headaches. But I wonder if my headaches are linked to the swelling and pain in the fingers. -
My fingers are swollen and I am worried and hoping I am not getting another auto-immune disease. It is not the first time I had swollen ankles (more visible) 18 years ago. I also have pain in my right hand fingers only. I have terrible headaches and migraines. I drank a lot of water today hoping that my headaches are results of dehydradatiion as I had the...

ARCHIVED Could This Child Have Celiac?
Nadia2009 posted a topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
This child felt very tired and dizzy today while we were hicking. He needed a lot of breaks and while talking to him and asking him if there was anything I didn't know about his health, he said all his family has diabetes. Other things I can tell you about him: he is overweight, he doesn't focus well and has learning difficulties. He gets frustrated/irritated... -

ARCHIVED Acupuncture Session Went Wrong After Glutening
Nadia2009 replied to Nadia2009's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Sandsurfgirl, I wish I never had this bad experience because I am actually all for alternative health and I believe Chinese medecine has a lot to offer. I researched a bit and chose someone who has a license with background in chinese medecine and not just someone with some hours of training. I am however very disappointed by this doctor mostly because... -

ARCHIVED Acupuncture Session Went Wrong After Glutening
Nadia2009 replied to Nadia2009's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Lisa, I went to see her for my back and to help me with the tiredness. But maybe I should stick to the chiro instead. I hate not being able to eat anywhere without risk. I am going to cancel my participation to staff potlucks and dinners. I dont want to be glutened again and there is no fun in having an interview with each person before eating...
