I never trust the chain cafes. The only thing I have from there are the bottled drinks from other brands or americano. By the looks of things, although the certain food & drinks do not contain gluten, they can ever so easily be cross contaminated by the looks of things. Plus the ingredients are basically powders and chemicals of artificial kinds...

ARCHIVED Key Symptom Differences Between Wheat Intolerance And Celiac?
Gobbie replied to turbo's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Isn't it also when the symptoms start that makes the difference? In my understanding, celiac disease is more of an allergy therefore the body would react as soon as it has entered the mouth, infact just any contact via skin or whatever will trigger the symptoms. Intolerance is when your body reacts when digested, so safely passing through the mouth... -
ARCHIVED Gluten In Water?
Gobbie replied to Gluten Ogre's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Maybe those flavoured or 'special' water either the ingredients themselves contain gluten or it could be unintended / unavoidable cross contamination in the factory. Or the water could have been messed with. Otherwise I am pretty sure water does not contain gluten. -

Buying pre-made stuff are more expensive in the long term than cooking from the scratch. Gobbie replied to ChemistMama's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
How about substituting to *FRUITS- They taste much nicer and cos of the water contents, they seem to give a better sense of fulfillment. *Green tea- they are not of sweet nature but this tends to fill your tummy up and it has a nature to relax your mind. *Dried fruits- just as sweet but with better nutrients. Don't go for fried or coated ones though... -

Gobbie posted a topic in Traveling with Celiac Disease
Hi, I have a number of food allergies and intolerances but gluten & grains (rice*) seem to be the worst off for me judging from my reactions and available food. Gluten I heard takes around 80% of our dish and the alternative to that or in Asia the main source of meal is rice. So... you can guess what my problem would be. My symptoms have worsened... -
ARCHIVED Sweets And E-colours
Gobbie posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Hi, I have several food allergies and intolerances but the worst off seems to be my reaction to gluten and grains. My symptoms have become severe since last year so I have been on a reasonably strict gluten free diet and completely avoided snacks and as replacement had fresh or dried fruits instead. This majorly improved my health. For the first time in... -
ARCHIVED Chinese-made Rice/sweet-potato Noodles
Gobbie replied to Pegleg84's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Try YAM NOODLES or CAKES. They are normally found in Japanese food sections. Usually in a transparent plastic bag like container with liquid inside. They look like jellies. Yam cake is brown and noodles are white, the ones I have access to are anyway. They need to be boiled but not for long so pretty much hassle free. In fact it is a pretty much 'Free... -
Hi everyone, hope your gluten free diet is going well today. Mine has been on the rocks lately whether through fault of my own or some what unavoidable situations. After some thorough research, I realised that it is rather common for FOOD INTOLERANT sufferers to crave for the offending foods despite knowing the consequences. Plus the denial issue seems...

As far as I am concerned no, it is not a direct cause for obesity. Like mentioned above, it does cause bloating etc and malabsorption of other nutrients. Although I can see how it can make you gain weight. I often find myself crazily craving for gluten products one because I used to love them and eat them on regular basis before symptoms became too severe...

Gobbie replied to Rachel Keating's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I actually understand what you are going through. I am severely GLUTEN INTOLERANT along with other food intolerances and allergies but GLUTEN is the worst in terms of missing out of life issue and symptoms. Somehow soon after being diagnosed as WHEAT INTOLERANT I managed to stay off it for quite a while although I did consume some every now and then since... -
ARCHIVED Ignorant Step-father
Gobbie replied to r0ckah0l1c's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
You and I seem to be going through s very similar situation. Perhaps this parents in denial issue after all is a common thing with Food Intolerances perhaps especially with gluten involved since it generally tastes 'nice' and is found almost everywhere. You just have to say NO I think. One can try to 'prove' by giving evidences via actions or whatever... -

Hi, I used to indulge on Asian food as well until my intolerances became rather severe though my family who aren't food sensitive still enjoy those foods. Chinese food often are mixture of everything, that is why Chinese brands are hard to trust and one of the reasons I completely avoid any food from there.
