  1. Thanks for the suggestions - It's a relief not to have to replace any more items! And it'll be nice to be able to cook something! (Never thought I'd say that) I've never noticed any reactions to fruit before. In fact, I usually feel better when I eat a lot of it (helps my pipes...er, move). The 'preggo belly' is just sort of always there, fruit or not...
  2. I have Lawry's seasoning salt! Phew! Our pots and pans are pretty old and the frying pans are badly scratched (teflon). Would a good scrubing do it? It would be such a relief not to have to buy new ones. I've already had to get rid of so many items! I'm just started taking a few vitamins and all of the packaging lists them as gluten free. I take a multivitamin...
  3. Looking back, I think I've had it my whole life, though probably to a lesser extent than these past years. There were many periods where I was really tired, red rashes on my face and arms and digestive problems. But I didn't get really sick until about six years ago, with my symptoms gradually getting worse over time - it got harder and harder to write them...
  4. The most spice I've used lately is salt, and it has always been kept in a separate cabinet from the other spices. Most our spices are new - about 2 months tops, and have never been spoon dipped-(all have handy shakers that we just shake into a dish or onto meat). I believe they are all safe, unless they are hiding gluten that isn't listed on the label? The...
  5. A big thanks to everyone for their suggestions and those product links! After responding here I am off to label read what I use with the info provided there. Heatherjane, do you have your own set of silverware/dishes? I have been using the same utensils (washed in a dishwasher) and ceramic bowls/plates etc as my husband, who eats bread, but little,...
  6. It's been about a month now that I started the non-gluten diet (blood test tested positive for celiac) and after roughly a week into it, for five blissful days I was better than I've ever been. I haven't changed anything between that week and now with my diet, except 2 possible cc's that following week (it's been at least 2 weeks since those cc's) and I have...
  7. I was just told I have celiac sprue last month and on top of that I also have endometriosis, raynaulds and am now in the process of confirming a diagnosis of rheumatoid arthritis and possible hypoparathyroidism. I think celiac's can act as a domino effect if it isn't found soon enough. I've read that some people's other problems can lessen or go away with...
  8. It definitely seems a theory worth looking in to, especially if you and others have experienced relief. And if our bodies react to one grain, why not others? I'll have to give it a try and see if my symptoms alleviate, though I pray for me it isn't all - or at least dairy, I can't imagine what I'd eat without dairy and the others cut out. It's hard enough...
  9. Ugh, I do hope corn isn't on my list! I love popcorn and it is one of the few snack foods I actually would miss. Thanks, I'll take a look (with a skeptical eye of course).
  10. Thanks, I'll check into the st ives! And I'd never have thought of the pet food! I have cats and a dog, none are lickers, but I am in charge of their feedings, so I'm handling their food twice a day and it is a dry food. I was mostly away from home my first week on the diet and had no animals to feed. I'll have to try having my husband take over a few days...
  11. The frustrating thing is, I don't see how my diet has differed this week in comparision to the week and a half before it. It's Saturday and my symptoms have yet to alleviate (my poor husband takes my fluctuating moods so well, poor thing). I haven't had any trouble with milk, never any d after drinking it and I had that all my first week without any ill effect...
  12. Thanks! I couldn't see the point of going back on it either. I've had diagnostic surgeries before (two for endometriosis) and I know how surgeons don't always do the best job or are they always 100% accurate at finding things. I'd rather not waste another few thousand on a maybe. Unfortunately, since I've been unable to work for so long- about four...
  13. I get twitches in my hands! I never would have put that to eating gluten, but it makes sense. Occasionally, when I hold something, my hands shake really bad. My father saw it once and told me I was turning into an old woman (not far from the truth some days).
  14. I was just told by an immunologist, roughly 2 weeks now, that my blood was positive for celiacs. I could use some advice, as my follow up with the gastro doctor was completely unhelpful - thank god for the internet or I'd be completely lost. I immediately started the diet that same day and did my best to rid my house of any offending items and up until last...
  15. Sorry, I realize this post is somewhat old, but I wanted to thank you for posting this. I was diagnosed with endometriosis last year and it's good to know my diet change might help ease this as well!
  16. I'm sorry to hear you might have endometriosis. I've just recently been told (by blood test only) I have celiacs -going on two weeks now, so I'm still figuring out what symptoms go to the celiacs and what goes with my endometriosis, but they do seem to worsen around the time I ovulate straight up to my period. I once thought all my symptoms were due...
  17. I'm so glad I stumbled upon this thread/site! I was just given the news by an immunologist that my blood test was positive for celiacs. I immediately read up on it and started the new diet and felt incredible - better than I have my entire life! The pain in my lower back was gone, my reynaulds disappeared, as did the pain in my joints, the little bumps...
