Thank you so much for your reply! I'm really nervous about going out to eat. I don't feel like I should be this nervous but I am. Yikes.

My friends want to go to Applebees for dinner tonight. What am I getting myself in for? Are they good? I looked on-line and saw that they had a menu for wheat free. Do they do gluten free? What have people's experiences been like? Thanks.

Thank you all for your good information. Sadly my friends' plans changed so we are not going out. I will keep this all in mind for next time I go out to eat (whenever that might be.) -

Thank you all for your wonderful advice. I don't know exactly where we are going to go, or when because it depends on when my friends get back from the amusement park. But we are going out on a tomorrow night, so hopefully it wont be too busy. I'm going to suggest a couple of places, but they get to pick since they are paying. I'll let you know how it goes... -
I am going out with friends on Tuesday night. This is the first time I've gone with friends since I've been diagnosed. I'm really worried about getting sick. I haven't been glutened for a couple of months now and I want to keep the stretch going. What should I do to make sure that my dining experience is as safe as possible? We'll be going to a restaurant...

ARCHIVED Another One Bites The Dust...vertigo?
Googles replied to vbecton's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I had vertigo as the side effect of a virus once. The doctor gave me some meds that took care of it. The doctor said the virus had been going around and a lot of people had been coming in dizzy (on campus). -
Welcome! I'm sorry that you are going through this, but glad that you have found us here. I think this website has been the best find I made when I found out last year that I had Celiac. I found that the gluten free product guide was really really helpful when I started trying to buy food. It gave me a place to start when I was trying to buy food. I also...

ARCHIVED Going Out To Eat With Friends
Googles replied to Googles's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Thank you all for the advice. I've never eaten out here and only once or twice before I moved. I'm a very poor student so don't go out to eat so it is all really new. You all make this so much easier. I'm just so scared about getting sick because they are coming in the middle of the week and I can't miss class or I fail. I don't have to tell you all how bad... -
Hello. I need some advice. I have friends who are coming to my area to visit. They want to take me out to eat. But we don't know exactly when they will get in. Since they are going to pay, I want to let them decide where to eat. I have only gone out a couple of times since I was diagnosed last year and have moved since then so don't know a lot of the restaurants...

ARCHIVED Gi Symptoms Vs No Gi Symptoms
Googles replied to Googles's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I've had GI symptoms both before and after I was diagnosed. It just seemed like this weekend I was getting depression more like when I get glutened than when I just get depression (different symptom set). So I was wondering if I could get one without the other. -
ARCHIVED Gi Symptoms Vs No Gi Symptoms
Googles posted a topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I have had my diagnosis for a year now this month. I was wondering if I can get the neurological symptoms of celiac without getting the GI symptoms. It is hard to tell apart because I usually have depression and anxiety and so it is hard to tell that apart from when I get glutened. If I have had GI symptoms before would I always have the GI symptoms? The... -
Thank you all for your replies. It does feel a lot like my carpel tunnel pain but in a slightly different place. I hate all the side effects that come along with getting glutened. It really sucks.

I got glutened a little bit sometime in the last two days (don't know exactly what caused it). This morning I woke up with wrist pain. I'm trying to figure out if somehow I slept wrong (on both my wrists) or if this is a reaction to the gluten. I've been icing and it helps a little. Do other people get joint pain?

ARCHIVED Does The Reaction Get Worse Over Time
Googles replied to Googles's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Thanks for the info. It wasn't a pop machine that dispenses cans, it was a fountain drink dispenser. (couldn't think of the better name last time I posted.) -
I got glutened about two weeks ago now. When I first was diagnosed the gluten reaction would last 2-3 days. Now it seems to be lasting over a week. Is this normal? I had such bad depression a week later. It was just like the depression I got right after I was glutened in the past. I was really careful so I know I wasn't reglutened. Does it normally get longer...

ARCHIVED Allergy Medicine
Googles replied to Googles's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Does anyone know about alavert? I called them but they said they don't test so they can't say one way or the other. It is what I have found works best for me in the past and is cheaper than Zyrtec. Thanks, Googles -
ARCHIVED Allergy Medicine
Googles replied to Googles's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Thanks for the info. I'm not worried about looking for it, I'm already in it. A little late doing my homework, I really thought I had more time. But that is what I get for moving to a new part of the country. -

ARCHIVED Gluten In Root Beer?

I reacted this weekend to Barq's root beer. UGH!!!! -
I think that I might be having problems with dairy. But I'm not sure what this means exactly. I know that some people have sesitivities to lactose and some cesian. I know when I was originally tested for celiac they tested me for lactose and there were not any positive results. Could I be sensitive to it a year later? If I want to do a test to see if I'm...

ARCHIVED If You Have Surgery
Googles replied to plantime's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
When I first was giving the possible diagnosis I called a friend because I was so upset. She told me that I could cheat and just have a little discomfort, because that is what another friend of her's did. So there are people out there who cheat. After going gluten free I would never intentionally eat gluten. But I think a lot of people (who don't know what... -
Yeah for a gluten free kitchen! Make sure that you clean the whole kitchen. Every surface, every drawer, cupboard, oven, refrigerator etc. When I moved in to my apartment my dad and i used lysol to clean the kitchen and it seemed to work fine. Then I went around the rest of the apartment and cleaned the other surfaces also, just to make sure.

ARCHIVED Drug Store Brand Makeup
Googles posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I'm a college student so I don't have a lot of money to spend on makeup. But need it for interviews for jobs. I was wondering if anyone knows of gluten free cosmetics that I can get at a drug store without paying an arm and a let. I looked at the forum, but a lot of the information is from a couple of years ago. I was wondering if anyone had more recent information...
