  1. I'm sure some of you probably remember this, but it was exactly 4 years ago that I got sick with Celiac (January 1, 2003). I seriously dont know where the 4 years went by. It feels like it was just yesterday. Maybe its good that it goes by quick, that way when I get old I might not remember Its been a tough 4 years obviously, and I hope that 2007 is a...
  2. Maybe this will help you: I discovered bread crumbs and such in the water is the culprit of my itchy hands and rashed hands and DH acting up. Try washing dishes wearing heavy gloves (like the yellow rubber work gloves or whatever). See if that'll help you. ~ lisa ~
  3. It takes me 1 crumb to make me have a few days of reaction, or even the touching of one crumb or a little bit flour in the air or a little bit smoke from burning grains. Its just insane. and if I end up eating some gluten or drinking, its even worse. Its lasted a week, or more--and sometimes I cant even eat from the reaction. ~ lisa ~
  4. haha thats awesome. a worry of melt would be my next question, but thanks, you just answered it . cant wait to try them, i should even use them at school to microwave my bread!! ~lisa~
  5. Maybe this was posted before but.... I went to order bread, etc. tonight and I looked under the "extras" section (since i always do haha), and I saw the coolest thing EVER and totally ordered 1. For $9.90 its a pack of 2 'toaster bags' that you put your bread inside these bags, and then can use any toaster/toaster oven/grill/etc...and the description says...
  6. Yeah the bus trip will be like 14 hours, and will cost $125 one way (thats a student discount) ...No price difference if going thru Saskatoon or Regina. But my parents already made it clear they will not drive me, neither will they borrow either of our vehicles to relatives so the relatives can drive me. All I got worked out so far is that my cousin that...
  7. Well Jan. 8th is approaching so quickly, and I'm getting soooo nervous about my appointment in Calgary. I still dont know where I'm staying, and still dont know enough about the bus schedule even tho I got it...like I dont know if its just a straight thru trip, or if its stops in between. I know bus is super expensive, but my parents dont feel like taking...
  8. Merry xmas everyone .Maybe this is gonna sound cheesy,but..... my gift to you all is a lot of thanks and **hugs** that I wish could be real. You know who you are. Some of you really helped me thru a lot this year, more than you could ever know, and I couldnt be more greatful. I think your friendships were like all one big gift to me. And I'd never survive...
  9. I know this is posting late. But I basically created my own gluten-free stuffing recipe tonight when making some, and believe it or not, it actually turned out lol. If anyone is interested, here's what I did... 2 L casserole dish (I think thats the size? its the medium sized ones) 10 slices Kinnikinnick bread, cubed (or 6 cups) 2 medium-sized onions...
  10. Yeah I havent found any gluten-free worcestershire sauce in Canada, either... ~ lisa ~
  11. Yeah, its a Canadian product. Wasnt sure if I should have posted it in out of US section or not, but it applies more to food so.....I hope someone else finds the answer. They dont have a website even! ~ lisa ~
  12. Quick question I need to know for xmas.... Does anyone know which Olympic meats are gluten-free? Some of their labelling i'm not so sure about, and thats the ham we'll be having for xmas meal. HELP ~ lisa ~
  13. I am sensative enough that contact a few crumbs will be enough to make me sick for 3 or 4 days!! here at HOME home i share a lot of the same things, but up to a point. i dont use any wooden spoons, etc. use separate silverware unless they say they didnt use it for gluten-y foods. When i'm washing dishes, either washing or rinsing, I have to wear gloves...
  14. Well my sinuses bug me every single day, i think its because I have so many allergies--even being on nasal spray dont help me breathe any better or feel any less stuffed up or sneeze less. So I know thats not the cause of the tooth ache. My bad week of contamination (twice last week) is over with, so I dont think its that either....And i still have the mouth...
  15. Its much easier to find what you CAN eat than what you cant (just because the CANT outnumbers the CAN so much). Look around on the internet and it wont be very hard to find lists of safe stuff. What I did for myself took me months, but its completely worth it. I took one of those Little Fat Notebooks, and I have EVERYTHING I've come across that I can eat...
  16. Yeah, saying I love hockey isnt saying enough haha. I LIVE for hockey. I cant WAIT for this game....look in my signature, I'm counting down already ~ lisa ~
  17. Awww what a beautiful baby!! . Congrats! Btw, dumb question, was the baby born elsewhere or something? Because today is only the 19th ~ lisa ~
  18. the ticket i got cost $50.25 (with tax or whatever). And since i dont drive i didnt have to worry about paying the extra $5 for parking, and i chose to have it shipped by regular mail, so i didnt have to pay anything extra for shipping either! the higher sections were $17 a ticket. i've never been to an NHL game before, so i dont care how much it would have...
  19. Tickets went on sale this morning at 10 am, I got on the website at 10:02 am, and got myself 1 ticket (GOOD seats--go Open Original Shared Link---I got Section N, row 3, seat 8!!! ). Anyways, I was supposed to get some tickets for a couple other pals, and either lots of people had reserves, or they really did sell out in about 25 minutes!!! So i guess...
  20. Curious question, does anyone else ever get so many teeth hurting at once that you can just call it a mouth ache? And that your teeth all feel like they are throbbing? I usually get this at random times (like i got it today for no reason i can think of). and even if a avoid the hot/cold/sweet whatever else could trigger an actual toothache hasnt helped...
  21. I seem to be getting contaminated a lot more (as most of you read in my rants about the college I go to). When I get contaminated I try to eat light foods, because whenever I'm in pain, the more I eat (of gluten-free) the more pain I'm in and the longer the side effects last (Although, sometimes, I end up not eating at all for a day or 2 because its too severe...
  22. i have the bloating issue too, more after being gluten-free than before. i technically have a flat belly, but most of the time i look pregnant. i guess its a good thing my jeans are now all too big on me, hey? . i havent found any reason why the bloating, it just shows up when i eat (and i am lactose free, too). ~lisa~
  23. For frying fish we use the same method as you would regular (with the eggs and flour), but obviously use gluten-free. In place of regular flour we use corn flour. Its amazing. Hope this helps ya! ~lisa~
  24. I think mine has suddenly decided to go from messed up to just impossible. I got it again today, meaning I've now had my period twice in not even a month span ~ lisa ~
  25. Wish I had a good reply for you. My period has gotta worse since going gluten-free. I must be one of the rare ones. I first got mine when I was 14, and it'd follow the cycle nearly perfectly, and it was heavy with cramps (and would last 5 days). Now being gluten-free it'll last 2 to 13 days, sometimes all heavy, sometimes all light, sometimes cramps, sometimes...
