ARCHIVED Was She Unsensitive Or Am I Being Oversensitive....again?
kaki-clam posted a topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
So the Gatro doc is having me under go the Sitz Marker test..where I have to swallow some little radio-active disks that help them track how stuff moves through my colon.... Anyway, I made the x-ray tech check to see if the pill contained gluten or iodine. While he was out of the room, the girl who was working with him was asking me about my gluten allergy... -

Thank you!!! Date number three...next weekend He's coming over with a DVD this time...I was telling him how awesome the gluten free pancakes I make are (thanks to Bob's Red Mill)..and he is excited to try them... He opens the doors for me..he held my hand at the movies...he apologized again for (as he put it) "nearly killing me the other night" and...

I live in a small town in Central Maine, just outside of the state capitol. Sunday nights (the night of our first date) is league night at the bowling alley, so bowling was out....you can't really get to chat/know each other at the movies...and there isn't anything else to do...no dog parks..neither of us really drink so a bar seemed stupid...no area concerts...

I had a date last Sunday...after going gluten free, I lost a ton of weight..so armed with a pretty new dress, freshly manicured toes and some super hot strapy sandals I felt pretty confident! I informed said date of my food allergies...he told me to pick the restaurant so I would feel more comfortable about my meal choices (insert fluttering eyelashes and...

ARCHIVED Bbq Sauce And Ranch Dress
kaki-clam replied to kaki-clam's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I LOVE sweet baby ray's BBQ Sauce..it was a favorite from my "other life"!! Are all their flavors gluten free or just the original? Also, thank you for the info on the ranch dressing, Kraft was the only product I could find here in Maine, but my local health food store said they would order me the other kinds if they could get them in small quantities... -

ARCHIVED Bbq Sauce And Ranch Dress
kaki-clam posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
so..I feel like I have done a great job finding all kinds of gluten free products to replace the gluten filled ones I use to love...the two things I can't seem to find are Ranch Dressing and BBQ Sauce. I did find one gluten-free Ranch dressing, but it is no hidden valley..is hidden valley gluten free? Does anyone have a suggestion for a ranch that is closer... -
ARCHIVED Panic Attacks Like Symptoms As Gluten Withdrawal?
kaki-clam replied to pues's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I had them....same thing with the heart beat....I would pace my apartment and have severe paranoia along with it. They went away after a couple months...with me, I am not sure if it was the gluten withdrawal, or when I accidentally got glutened. They were not fun...and I am sorry you are going through it. -
ARCHIVED Severe Sleeping Issues/depression?
kaki-clam replied to Lycopene's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I read your post, and I was like, OMG...did I write that????? It is exactly my story!!!! My boyfriend couldn't stand my being sick all the time, the relationship wasn't about him anymore, so he cheated first, then left I cried for two weeks straight....didn't go to work, didn't eat....lost 35 pounds.....in retrospect..only some of the grieving was for... -
ARCHIVED Serious Assistance Needed!

sometimes winning is all that matters....resentment is all ready in full swing at the office, this won't change things..I am sure the outcome will be no lunch for anyone, which is fine with most people i guess....too bad the company i work for is not as supportive as my co-workers....There are a few people in the office who make a point of not eating the... -
when I first went gluten free, i found that after eating lunch i was sooo tired, i could barely keep my head up and my eyes open. It was all gluten free stuff, and stuff I knew was ok to eat, so, not trigger food, but still made me really tired...i car pool to work, thank god, because there were some nights that i wouldn't have been able to drive myself...

ARCHIVED Serious Assistance Needed!
kaki-clam replied to kaki-clam's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Yes, I have been medically diagnosed with Celiac. And I do have it in writing that they will not provide an option for me stating in my bosses own words "because I don't have to" When I started this post, I decided to go with the majority in my decision making process, and it looks like I will be leaving it alone for now. -
ARCHIVED Serious Assistance Needed!
kaki-clam replied to kaki-clam's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I must say I am surprised by the responses I got here....as I read back through my primary post, I realized perhaps I didn't provide enough info about these lunches the company provides. They always have a vegetarian option, and diabetics can get salads or what not. I called the place where they get the food from, and they advised me that since all the... -
My GI doctor said he had some great paperwork for me, I had to pick it up, which meant taking time off from work that I couldn't get. I asked him to mail it to me, to which he replied " I don't have an envelope big enough". Seriously??? I did e-mail him a few questions, the reply was, talk to you primary doctor, so when I asked him, he told me to ask the...

The company I work for often will provide us with a lunch as a "reward" for meeting service levels. My supervisor and the call center director both refuse to provide me with a Gluten Free option. They state it is "my choice" to participate in the meal. (The meal is usually pizza). I went on line and found on the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission...

ARCHIVED I Think My Dog Is Trying To Kill Me.....
kaki-clam posted a topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I got super excited when I wrote to a company that makes bacon flavored salts and they replied back that the salts were gluten free. I ordered up a three pack of their tasty concoctions only to receive them, read the label and see the words..." contains wheat". I left the containers on the counter since I couldn't eat them, I was going to give them to my... -
ARCHIVED Can'T Sleep, Nervous, Anxious And Paranoid
kaki-clam posted a topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I seem to go in spurts of not sleeping and this last one has been a long one....I am on day 4 with only about 6 hours of sleep. I am starting to feel dizzy. I am having anxiety attacks for no reason and I am feeling paranoid. In the past, prior to the Celiac diagnosis, my doctor had me on antianxiety meds as well as sleeping pills, and although they helped... -
I love the doctor I have, and my GI specialiest...but here is the trouble...for the day to day things, my specialist sends me to my regular doctor, and the office my regular doc works at won't allow him time to help me..i get 15 minutes. I need to find some help in Maine! Willing to travel...please help!!! Even if you can help me find a list...I am willing...

Funny you should mention knitting...I am an avid knitter. I use to belong to a wonderful knitting circle, but the shop went out of business and the group broke up. I have searched and searched for a new group, but they all meet during the day while i am working I do have several knitting projects going along with some other crafts, but they don't seem...

This is my first gluten free holiday season...I traveled to my brothers home a few states away. Along with my luggage and presents I had a cooler full of stuff I cooked so I could eat and enjoy meals with my family. I haven't been diagnosed for very long but my friends keep an eye out for gluten free stuff..including gluten free chocolate wine....yum!!...

Well...you start with a soft sandwich roll..it's like the nice soft bakery Italian bread, only for sandwiches, and you cut it down the middle part way...like a hot dog bun. Then, you put in either ham or salami...not both, and some white American cheese. Add sliced onions, green peppers, tomatoes, dill pickles and black olives..i like mine without the olives...

you are right Salax...I do need to put on my big girl pants and grow up...it isn't like this is my first break up or anything. I have always been able to cope with life and keep going..I don't know if it is the Celiac's and other stresses in my life that are causing this or what...I just can't seem to move over this hurdle. I am trying to find some groups...
