Last night my family and I went to Macaroni Grill in Aurora Colorado. The manager there is always great and works with me on my gluten-free diet. He even buys Tinkiyada noodels and cooks them up as I am on my way so I won't have to wait forever for my meal. I always order the chicken scalopinni (sp?) It usually comes breaded, but I ask for it grilled...

ARCHIVED Ordering Gf Beer
Deby replied to DoctorDave's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I will carry Bardsbeer at all Deby's Gluten Free Bakery Stores. I hope it is really as good as reported. I've never been a beer drinker, so I'm not a good judge. -

Deby replied to Deby's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Thanks for all who emailed to participate. I have my 10 volunteers. -
Yes, I will carry many products with no dairy with soy cheese and milk as a substitute. You can go to www.debysglutenfree.net there is a site map there that gives the exact location. BTW, I posted on the products board advertising for volunteers to try my mixes for free. I haven't gotten my 10 volunteers yet, so if you are interested, read that...

I heard about a gluten-free beer from Twin Vally Mills in Nebraska. You might be able to get the number on the web. I haven't tried it because I'm was never a beer drinker. I was at a celiac disease meeting and heard that it was pretty good, but expensive.

ARCHIVED Volunteers Wanted
Deby posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
As some of you may know, I'm in the process of opening a gluten-free bakery/cafe/grocery in Denver Colorado. I'm in my final stages of getting it together and would like to know if ten of you would try my some of my mixes and see how they turn out in your kitchen. Here are the specifics. You must be a member of this board and live in a different climate... -
yes, I plan on opening a chain. I'd like to have a Deby's Bakery/Cafe in every major city in the USA and Canada since I feel there is a need for one. This first one will be in Denver Colorado, but I have a banker who says that if I can show good numbers in the first year, he will support a franchize. That's exciting and scary. My plan is to have just...

My mouth is watering.... frosted cinnamon rolls, oh yes.... My grandma used to make the best ones with carmel and pecans. keep it coming because there are some surprises here in the Mexican food category. I wasn't planning on putting Mexican food on the menu, but I'll have to rethink that.

If you could go to a gluten free restaurant and order anything you want, what would it be? I'm asking because I'm opening a cafe and bakery and am in the process of deciding a menu for the cafe. Personally, I miss eggs benedict and french toast. What do you miss???

Hello to all who are following this thread. Sorry I don't post or check as much as I'd like to. I'm busy trying to get things up and running. I got the drawing for the layout. I'm excited that I can have a beer, wine license. Gluten free beer anyone??? I'm anticipating a March opening, possibly early April. I'll have the website up and running...

ARCHIVED Which Is Better? Corn Or Rice Pasta?
Deby replied to mwical's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I wish Tinkyada would make ravoli, I miss that soooooo much. I actually made ravoli from scratch. I fould a mold at a restaurant supply store. I couldn't get my pasta to roll out in my pasta maker. I have the one that attatches to a kitchen aid. I rolled it by hand so it was too thick. The taste was okay. Since I haven't had ravoli in so long, I thought... -
ARCHIVED How To Clean Gluten In The Kitchen?
Deby replied to Merika's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I am super sensitive so I've learned the hard way how easy it is to be contaminated. I have a gluten free household except for bread. There are also a few frozen items like lunch burritos etc that are eaten at work or school and not heated in my microwave. It works best for us. It's important for the others in your house to understand the danger of contamination... -
ARCHIVED Does Anyone Bake Their Own Gf Bread
Deby replied to mwical's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Sorry, In my bread mix, add 2 cups of water. Water and flour are equil in the first rise. -
I found this thread quite interesting. I feel like a walking zombie most of the time and have even had times where I had to fight to stay awake while driving. I thought it was just me. I had celiac for 15 years before going gluten-free. I've been gluten-free for four years now and I'm doubting that my symptoms will ever completely resolve. Actually it...

I can't ever remember not having nightmares. I started taking Paxil about a year ago and that was the relief I needed. The nightmares are way down, maybe one or two a month as opposed to four or five a night. Has anyone else tried Paxil? My doc said it was good at relieving anxiety, which was my biggest problem.

Thanks for all the comments! It's giving me a lot to consider, thought I had thought about a lot of it already, it's good to know which points are most important. hapy2b, thanks for your comments. One of the main reasons I wanted tables was so I would have seating for cooking demos and gluten-free type lectures. I think there is a huge need for information...

I thought it was interesting, though misleading about that "simple" blood test as there is no mention of how many people are not caught with the test.

ARCHIVED Does Anyone Bake Their Own Gf Bread
Deby replied to mwical's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
For hamburger buns, I use the disposable small pie tins. Just stretch out the crimps on the bottom. I load 8 on a cookie sheet so getting them in and out of the oven is easy. They work great. Just be careful not to over fill them so that you bun is too thick Here is the bread recipe I use for home and will use in my bakery when it opens. use... -
ARCHIVED Polycystic Ovarian Disease
Deby replied to beelzebubble's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I've had terrible pain in my right ovary. it's there almost all of the time but gets really bad at mid month and when I cycle. Could this be PCOS? I was admitted to the emergency room about 5 months ago with really bad pain. I thought it was my appendix, but it was just my cycle coming on. -
Thanks for the feed back. I thought the gluten-free message might not be so great since the 'no' line is in the middle and not diagonal. Ruth, thanks for all of the comments on 'uses' I had thought of the tri-color expense but not about the quality of the copy, at least not to newspaper. I'll talk to the designer and post when there is something...

I haven't had that experience of people not wanting to try gluten-free. Most people I've met want to try a taste. Some don't like it, true. My husband works for AVAYA telecommunications. His co workers wanted him to bring in samples so they could check out this gluten-free thing. My sister also, working for Oppenhiemer funds (spelling?) was also asked...

ARCHIVED Low Cholesterol?
Deby replied to a topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
People who have undiagnosed celiac disease get cancer, colon cancer and non hodgskins lyhmphoma (spelled right???) That may be a factor in those studies since a drop in cholesterol is a common sign of celiac disease. -
I'll have a bakery on site so that will bring the base of income for the business. It's just that I have a large space. Part of the space will be taken my a retail business. I think that the base population in Denver has enough known celiacs to support a retail site. I also have a website being built that will offer mixes and products on the web. ...

I've been gluten-free for 4 years. When it comes to communion, I do several things. first I try to remember to bring a rice cracker. If I forget, I just take the cracker and juice, drink the juice but slip the cracker to my husband. However, after a recent church split, communing has been done dirrerently. Now instead of passing the communion elements...
