ARCHIVED Fertility Issues For Non-Celiac Gluten Intolerance
daniknik replied to GlutenFreeAustinite's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Are you concerned because you've noticed changes in your cycle? Because that was one of the reasons that I went gluten-free to begin with. Ultimately the short answer to your question is...yes. There are many of us who have had problems with fertility with or without an official celiac diagnosis. I am self-diagnosed Celiac (my grandfather was diagnosed... -

ARCHIVED Gluten - Free Hair, Make-up, Skin Care Products
daniknik replied to sedunk's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Hi! I am also Celiac with Curly Hair! I have used Kinky Curly products on my hair since I went gluten free a year and a half ago. I LOVE their products! You can get them at Whole foods or Target, or online at their website: Open Original Shared Link. The great thing is that they smell fantastic too! I usually shampoo and apply a small amount of the... -
ARCHIVED Anyone Alergic To Eggs?
daniknik replied to mommyto2kids's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
I have IgG reactions to Gluten, Dairy, Eggs and Soy. When I talked to my allergist (Dr. Newhall in Chicago) about the Egg allergy and the fact that I was having such a difficult time baking without them she told me that a large percentage of people with an Egg allergy can tolerate small amounts of egg when they are baked "in things" in an oven heated to... -
ARCHIVED Any Campers, Backpackers, Hikers Out There?
daniknik replied to Lostfalls's topic in Sports and Fitness
Have you thought about cooking meals before you leave home, packaging them into individual portions via freezer bags, freezing them, and then reheating while you're on your trip? I just got back from a 9 day camping trip where all I had was a camp stove (JetBoil) and a cooler with ice (I refilled the ice daily). I have never been so healthy during a camping... -
I don't know if I can truly say that I have a specific lectin intolerance...but the foods that I have the greatest reaction to are all high in lectins. When I read the krispin report Open Original Shared Link he mentions the following: grains-especially wheat and wheat germ, but also quinoa, rice, buckwheat, oats, rys, barley, millet, and corn; legumes...

Have you considered other food intolerances? I started an elimination diet in October of '09 after my multiple symptoms became overwhelming. In addition to numerous gut issues, one of my primary symptoms was horrific night sweats and also a very irregular period (too frequent in my case) I also had my thyroid, cholestrol, and FSH checked and when they...

Hi Folks! I am trying to find a doctor who is knowledgeable about Celiac disease and other food intolerances. I live in Chicago and I know that there are several around...but, here's the kicker, I need someone who accepts Blue Cross Blue Shield HMO Illinois insurance or I can't afford to see him/her. I am open to ANY suggestions you might have because...

I hear you with regards to the seasonal allergies here! I started the gluten-free diet about 5 months ago and have seen a resolution of so many problems, including the great majority of my allergy symptoms. On a hunch, I stopped taking my nasal spray two weeks ago and I am fine. This has never happened before...and it's Spring...and the pollen is driving...

ARCHIVED Multiple Allergy Cooking
daniknik replied to cbur53's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
www.mealsforyou.com has a great site. On it you can click on the food items that you either want to include or exclude and it will search its recipe database for recipes that fit your criteria. When I was starting this diet it was a great relief to find this free site. Good Luck and stick with it! -
ARCHIVED Dr. Bronner'S Gluten And Soy Free?
daniknik posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Hi Folks- I really like using the Dr. Bronner's products-they clean well and smell great, plus they're biodegradable. If you're soy sensitive you should consider not using them...but the tocopherols are the last ingredient on their list of ingredients so it's totally your call. --------- Hi there, Thanks for writing. All our products are gluten... -

ARCHIVED Soy Intolerance-How Risky Are Shampoo And Conditioner?
daniknik replied to daniknik's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Yup, I'm a big, BIG fan of their products! The curling custard is AMAZING and I am continuously amazed by the fact that I only need to use three products (sometimes hairspray too if it's really windy, or humid) and I'm out the door. Before I found Kinky-Curly stuff I was using loads of different products with tons of chemicals in them and I was still having... -
ARCHIVED "gluten Free" Items That "got You"
daniknik replied to NorthernElf's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I reacted poorly to the Honey Nut Chex too!!! And this is even with the "Gluten Free" label on the front of the box. I'm glad I'm not the only one...although it sucks that we all had to feel glutened from this product! -
ARCHIVED Badger Products--Gluten And Soy Free?
daniknik replied to daniknik's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I'm still a little nervous about the "soy-based cleaner" for the machinery, but I really like the product and I've been using it for about a week now and feel fine. My thinking is that at least the soy isn't specifically included as an ingredient, and that while I can't guarantee no CC, I'm still a lot better off using this than some other balm with nasty... -
ARCHIVED Humming In Ears And Then Charlie Horses At Night
daniknik replied to daniknik's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Thanks for all of the suggestions! They're super-helpful. I'm trying to figure out which supplements I should be taking and what not. I did visit the doctor this week and she told me to consider taking a Calcium Citrate supplement for the feet and leg cramps. She didn't have much to say about the humming in my ears other than to take a Benadryl because... -
ARCHIVED Badger Products--Gluten And Soy Free?
daniknik posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Hi Folks- I emailed the Badger folks with regards to Gluten and Soy in their products and here was their response: All Badger products are gluten free and soy free. However, our lip balm sticks and sunscreens are filled at a facility where a natural soy-based cleaner is used to clean machinery. We cannot absolutely guarantee that there is no chance... -
ARCHIVED Soy Intolerance-How Risky Are Shampoo And Conditioner?
daniknik posted a topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
I don't know if this is the right forum for this...but I'll give it a shot. I recently learned that the shampoo and conditioner I've been using, while gluten free, includes soy protien in its ingredients (they aren't listed on the label but when I inquired with the company they told me that they are used in the product). I have blood and stool test confirmed... -
ARCHIVED Safe Lip-Balm/Chapstick
daniknik posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
So I just realized that while the Burt's Bees lip balm I've been using for years is gluten free, it includes vitamin E derived from soy. I am intolerant of both gluten and soy and I have a couple of questions. 1. Should I discontinue use of products containing soy derivatives? (This includes hair and fact products too) I.E. vitamin E? Some sites... -
ARCHIVED Humming In Ears And Then Charlie Horses At Night
daniknik replied to daniknik's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Thank you for the link. It looks like I could potentially be suffering from Candida overgrowth in addition to Celiac. I guess the good thing is that I already love eating the great majority of the foods on the list of "okay" foods, save for the nightshades. That's pretty amazing. And I've been wondering if additional sugar was messing me up too. I suppose... -
ARCHIVED Humming In Ears And Then Charlie Horses At Night
daniknik posted a topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Hi folks, I've been trying to eat gluten free for several months now. I was only recently diagnosed with Celiac and I am also intolerant to casein, egg, soy, yeast and nightshades. Yesterday morning I developed a humming noise in both of my ears that is still humming today and will not resolve even though I feel as if my sinuses are clear and I can... -
ARCHIVED Glutenening Symptoms Vs. Other Food Intolerances?
daniknik replied to daniknik's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Thanks for the input. I don't think that it's gallbladder related. I did lose 10 lbs. when I started the diet but I've gained back 5 of them and am back to what has, historically, been my normal weight (130lbs give or take at 5'7"). The back pain is more like a ache in the middle of my back between my shoulder blades that radiates outward. It's not a... -
ARCHIVED Glutenening Symptoms Vs. Other Food Intolerances?
daniknik posted a topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Hi Folks! I am in a pickle. I've been eating an elimination diet and keeping a food diary every day now for 115 days. I confirmed Celiac via Entero Lab testing (and a positive dietary response) last week, but I also have blood test confirmed reactions to Milk, Egg, and Soy. I suspect that nightshades and yeast also cause problems and I've been avoiding... -
ARCHIVED Is This Really Celiac?
daniknik replied to Chrisco's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
My blood tests came back negative for Celiac twice...but when I had the stool testing done, they results were positive for anti-gliadin, anti-tissue transglutaminase, and andi-casein. I also carry the genetic markers for celiac DQ8 and non-celiac gluten sensitivy DQ6 and have been told by my primary doctor that I don't have Celiac (I'll see her again in...
