  1. I have so many I have to keep track on my phone, but none of them have the particular unique symptoms of gluten. And it's highly possible it was ONLY the english muffins, after all that is the only thing I got sick from - I actually had half a chocolate muffin (pretty sure it was tj brand also) two days before with no symptoms. But it was absolutely the...
  2. We got some "gluten free" English muffins from trader Joe's and they made me quite sick from gluten. The latest post about trader Joe's bread being questionable was from 2018. They're new locally and I was hoping their gluten-free processes had improved in the years since I last lived near one, but I'm paying a heavy toll for that hope. Whatever their practices...
  3. I went through multiple open houses with realtors baking and intentionally spreading that smell and didn't get sick. I can't have anything from a shared kitchen, but at least it's not a bakers where there is literally floor coating everything. Everybody is different but I don't think id get gluten sick. The smell is another story, and I empathize with you...
  4. You're talking gluten actively on the moustache of the slob in front of you, the barber ignores that cutting through the sticky crumbs then skips sterilizing the clippers, then ingesting enough of the thrice transferred gluten - I'd call it statistically impossible. However this reminded me of getting glutened from sharing my wife's shampoo. It was...
  5. So I've been taking naproxen and then vimovo (naproxen coated with Nexium) for more than a year without celiac related issues. I recently started Duexis (naproxen coated with Pepcid) and I've been having symptoms that seem like a reaction (soft emergency stools) on the level of cross contamination or wheat vinegar levels. I was surprised because I've avoided...
  6. When they first came out I was eating all the gluten free cheerios without any problems. About two months ago I started having flare ups and determined it was probably the cheerios. The articles and "hot spots" agree with my personal experience...shame too, it was nice to have them but I'm super sensitive and I can't play maybe this box we'll be ok.
  7. Sanyo ECJ-F50S It was a gift! As non-bakers it's been great for bread and to rise my pretzel dough. Also doubles as a rice cooker and is far better than our past "cheap" rice cookers.
  8. Deby's and Outside the Breadbox make good crusts, although they are Denver companies and I don't know where their distributions stops. My next favorite is Schar, which were on the east coast months before being here in Denver, so it's likely you can get them. They are 3rd because they are thicker and slightly dry/chewy, but they are good none the less...
  9. Have kids? Pre-winter "snow"ball fight! We use a Gluten Free Pantry bread mix for bread machines in a very nice rice/bread cooker we received as a gift- and are ALWAYS fighting the middle. Flipping, etc. doesn't seem to help and the size and consistency of the void varies in seemingly unaddressable ways. Ah well, the crust is the best part anyway...
  10. I've tried several gluten free pastas but I can't get any of them to turn out decent when cold- they are either stiff and dry or mush once cold. I've been to two gluten free food fair type events and both had great cold pasta on sample. The first time I brought the product (bagged pasta salad kit) home thinking I'd finally found the perfect base for gluten...
  11. So I've been gluten free for about seven years and have lots of other food issues. I need Mayo packets to carry with me on an upcoming trip, but I messed up and ordered Kraft "Fat Free" Mayo packets instead of Kraft "REAL" Mayo packets, and there is not enough time to fix it. So the packs I've got seem to make me sick, and everyone in the world seems...
  12. I pack my own food all the time too. I know the drill- cold, pretoasted gluten-free bread sandwiches with cheese and margarine that hasn't been refrigerated for 10 hours, YUM. I carried both breakfast and lunch with me just this morning because I needed to take my truck in for service and didn't know how long I would be waiting. I guess I don't get your...
  13. Hello all! OK, so I'm starting to freak out. Here is the deal- I'm super sensitive to gluten, having been gluten free for some 5 years now and also (like many others) allergic to other things (corn, carrots, green pepper, some mushroom types). To make matters more difficult I'm vegetarian. Luckily we maintain a 99% gluten free (and 100% veggie) household...
