About Me

Hiiiii!

I'm Michaela, I'm 19 and live with my mum in Surrey, England. I'm crazy, fun-loving and have a mad sense of humour!

I was diagnosed with Asperger's in 2007 at age 17, and diagnosed ADHD in 2009 at age 19. The Asperger's is quite mild and I often wonder if a secong opinion would say it's actually PDD-NOS. Hmm...but either way, I am who I am and I wouldn't change it!

I am undiagnosed for coeliac. I've had unexplained weight loss for nearly a year, for the past few months I've been getting lower abdominal pains, gas, bloating, tummy bloating out, headaches, can't sleep, emotional/behavioral changes/odd things, itchy rash on upper arms and back of legs. All of which seem to be triggered by gluten. I'm currently in the process of getting diagnoesd.

I'm unemployed as I left my last job (at Thorpe Park, ride attendant/operator), decided to go back but was messed around when re-applying so I've given up on them. My AS makes new people difficult for me to deal with and I am only comfortable with them if I am comfortable with my surroundings and confident in what I am doing. So I have a limited choice of work, I'm on benefits and hoping something suitable will come up soon!

Thanks for reading! :)

  1. Ok so I have an update. Got my blood test results back, celiac tests were normal, all the other tests were too (had thyroid, liver etc etc re-checked). GP said it's probably just a bit of IBS/acid problem, prescribed me with Colofac. This was a couple of weeks ago, a lot has been going on recently so I wasn't in the right frame of mind to question the...
  2. I am still eating gluten as I am in the process of getting diagnosed and I know mouth ulcers is a symptom. But it often seems to be related to brushing my teeth...it could be coincidence though. Hopefully it isn't the toothpaste, then it'll be one less thing I'd have to worry about changing
  3. I wondered if it was alcohol related as the one my mum got has alcohol in. I've heard other "bad" things about alcohol in mouth washes (not sure what exactly though) so it's a shame I wasn't there when she bought it! I actually need to get some more toothpaste soon so it could be a chance to try a different one. I've looked at some online and a lot of...
  4. Apparently soribtol can be grain derived but some toothpastes that have sorbitol have sorbitol that was corn derived. I'm in the UK and I use Aquafresh Fresh & Minty. I've gotten into bad habits and don't brush my teeth nearly as often as I should! But when I do brush them, it sometimes hurts on the inside of my lip, where you'd get mouth ulcers...
  5. The first time I got my thyroid checked the GP said it was "bang in the middle" but I didn't ask the numbers or anything, same with potassium. They said that was slightly low but only by a fraction so I guess it's good they mentioned it, they obviously realised even a slightly out of range result is important to the patient But they said everything else...
  6. Thank you for your reply I need to see my GP in a few weeks anyway for something seperate so half of me is thinking I will wait til then to speak to them about my results etc. But the other half of me is desperate to know everything NOW...but cos I have been to the doctor so much over the past few months I start worrying they'll think I'm being paranoid...
  7. I had the blood tests not last Wednesday but the one before (13th January). My GP told me they would take a bit longer to come back and would be about a week. So I assumed the following Wednesday I'd get the results. I also had some other tests done like FBC, thyroid, etc. I phoned the next Wednesday and I asked if they had ALL come back. They checked...
  8. Just an update: Had the blood tests and got the results the other day. They said everything was normal. What do I do now? Also I've heard that before the test you're supposed to eat 3 slices of bread or the equivalent every day...but is that only if you've been gluten free for a while? I haven't been gluten free at all and I ate it pretty...
  9. Welcome to the forums! I'm new too! I had blood tests today, one of which was for celiac. I know the feeling of waiting for results...especially the thought of "What if the results show nothing?" It's nearly a year since my issues started. I suddenly got a rapid heart rate last January, it kept speeding up as though I'd been exercising - but it...
  10. I was wondering about this, because it's in the cereal I eat but the allergy advice doesn't mention it containing gluten! I feel sick and awful and my tummy is making a lot of noise! I've not actually been diagnosed celiac yet but I went to my doctor on Friday and have blood tests on Wednesday. I'm glad I found this thread (well I searched...
  11. Well I went to my doctor today I told them everything and mentioned what I had read about celiac and the symptoms differing from person to person, not always being severe, etc. She said I had a good point So I'm having blood tests next week! For celiac, bone profile, and they're also re-checking the others I had previously (which I mentioned in...
  12. I started getting hyerhidrosis when I was about 14/15. And I started needing to wear anti-perpirants when I was only 9!! My doctor prescribed Driclor and it helped but its itchy and can sting I used it for ages then stopped (for some stupid reason) and I just keep forgetting to use it. Or I'm so wide awake that I can't sleeo and you have to put it on...

I have ADHD and I'm on Concerta. It's gluten free as far as I know. Not that it's helped one bit! I'm pretty much on the highest dose but no luck! The first 2 days I started it - WOW. But then it just stopped working and higher doses have had no effect. However, I'm beginning to wonder if having celiac (but not being gluten-free) could affect medications...
  14. Thanks I don't think I was clear enough last time I saw the doctor, and since I've been I've picked up on things such as food triggers, so hopefully tomorrow will be successful. I'll make sure I write things down from my posts and take it with me! Also my cousin (on my mum's side) has very similar issues such as weight loss, fast heart rate,...
