  1. One of my sons symptoms as well as steatorrhea is that what he eats comes out the same way - not all the time. But like the other day 15 hours after dinner the night before he had a stool and it was like the entire undigested dinner - sooooo gross. Poor little baby!
  2. I know this thread is old. But I read it and I just want to cry. I have been fighting the medical profession for exactly a year trying to get them to realise =I guess -that my son is likely celiac. I am almost sure of it - about 90%. His stools changed this time last year - and by far the most common one is that sandy looking one. I try describing it to our...
  3. Wow -that is interesting that they aren't looking into a cause for it. I have read about it and our Paed GI just said it was really really really uncommon in babies especially when not caused by CF. It can be linked to things like Celiac -some studies say as many as 30% of children with undiagnosed celiac suffer from it, also linked to Crohns, IBD, Lupus...
  4. My friend is celiac and her best friend never really believed in it. Kind of thought it was a bit in her head. Anyhow recently she glutened my celiac friend on accident. My friend got so ill, needless to say her best friend takes her very seriously now. It is very frustrating indeed. My mother is celiac and was soooo ill before being diagnosed - just wasted...
  5. Hi there, I have posted on this forum about my eldest son who is 4. We are coming up to a year or him having celiac like symptoms. Still no diagnosis - We have a history of celiac disease in the family. Anyhow - one of my youngest sons (one of twins) has been having strange symptoms from birth. Diagnosed as reflux, colic, always crying, never had a...
  6. I think you are right. Gluten free even if there is no diagnosis.... at least for awhile to see what happens. Thanks for you help!
  7. Hi Ravenwoodglass, Thanks for the reply! Just a couple of problems. We are not in the US so can't go through the entrolab tests. (Boohoo) and every Dr I have seen here have no idea at all about celiac or gluten intolerance. In fact Drs here would think anything but celiac even if its in the family. The pead that we saw recently said - and I kid you not...
  8. I wrote before about 2 months ago but just thought I'd give an update and see what you guys think. My 3 and a half year old started having funny poos before christmas. Very pale, mainly loose or floating, alot of the time large bulky amounts, very smelly. Sometimes (but only rarely) constipated and then back to loose pale stools. Sometimes he has one a...
  9. We are coming up to a month of my 3 year old having chronic yellow floating mucous stool, it alternates between that and watery diarrehea and in the last week the food is undigested. I can see what he ate the day before. He is tired all the time, pale, black bags under his eyes, pale gums, can't sleep because of restless legs (he gets up at 3am ish...
  10. Thanks sophie!!! your dr sounds great..its not too far to gladesville, but I am 5 minutes from RPA so i'm hoping to get a referral to there as well!
  11. Thanks everyone for your great responses! I'm reading up on the DNA connection and I'm seeing that they don't know a great deal about the other less common genes involved. The fact that I have non raynaud's nipple vasospasm has always had me wondering about autoimmune disease. I was diagnosed before my mother was diagnosed with celiac disease and I...
  12. Oh yeah I know what you are saying regarding narrowing the search- I was thinking along the lines of intolerances or allergy as well. Although I do know up to 5% of people do not have the genetic link, so that is not really very unlikely. Also I am being treated for peptic ulcer ie (H pylori) and am more than half way through the course with no improvement...
  13. Thanks for your responses...one more question. If I eventually did go gluten free for a trial I have heard that it becomes hard to introduce it back into your diet even if your not celiac/intolerant. Is that true of just an old wives tale? Thanks!
  14. Hi Sophie I live in Sydney too, so a recommendation would be great! Also other suggestions on what it could be would be great as well.....don't worry, I'm not looking for a diagnoses, just maybe an idea of what to do next....thanks!!!
  15. Hiya, I'm in Australia. My Dr didn't show me the results at all, just said that I didn't have genetic predisposition so we could "pretty much rule out celiac". I am currently being treated for peptic ulcer-which is what my Dr thinks it is- to no avail. I've had an abdo scan which didn't show anything. My Dr seems to be an intolerance...
  16. Hi, Has anyone tested negative for the celiac DNA test only to find out that they are celiac? I have been unwell for some time, getting worse and worse. My mother was diagnosed a celiac 9 months ago after years of sickness. She didn't ever have the DNA screening test. My Dr gave me the test and because it came back negative as far as he is concerned...
