I'm happy to report the area around University of Alabama is well-versed in the gluten free arts! We ate at the Mellow Mushroom on University Blvd the first night. A large, thin crust pizza easily feeds 2 people. I noted a good selection of gluten-free ciders and ales on the menu. Hi, The first thing that came to mind after reading your blog was cholelithiasis. Do you still have your gall bladder? You might want to check in with your doctor and make a mental note of what you had to eat prior to the new back pain. Hope this helps. Bev

Hi! Just wanted to add my 2 cents worth...have always been a fan of the 99 restaurant chain. Love their burgers, which I usually order "bun less". I have a new favorite recently. The salmon with the balsamic glaze served with grilled vegetables is delicious and gluten free. Enjoy!

Hi Trish, I've been gluten free for 5 years. That would be great if you wanted to start a new support group for Southern NH. Where do you live? I am in Manchester. There are so many places to eat gluten free in this area so that's not a problem, but I would love to share stories with other people who eat this way. It's amazing to go to the grocery stores... -
Betty Crocker brownies are chocolate and butter. What's not to like? Mine don't last long enough to freeze. Try adding mini chocolate chips,nuts or M and M's. Verrry good!

I wouldn't touch their pizza with a 10 foot pole. Talk about trying to capitolize on the gluten free "trend". Fortunately, Manchester NH has lots of gluten free options, including the fabulous Portland Pies and an entire menu at Fratello's. When I need home made pizza, I make the crust with the King Arthur flour company's gluten free mix. Very satisfying...

Miss Molly, Sorry you had a bad experience at Romano's Macaroni Grill. Since you are in the area, you might try the Seadog Brewery in Woburn. ( I know, the name is a little scary for celiacs!) I can vouch for a safe gluten free eating out experience there...salads and especially the pizza. They are a small new england based chain worth traveling for... -
