  1. I got retested in February 2012 at the Chicago Celiac Center and my numbers are finally going down. I also had a repeat endoscopy back in November 2011 which came out excellent. I'm happy to say that I'm finally making some progress and have been feeling better, too.

  2. I read about your numbers still being high. This analysis of celiac research done by the FDA might be of interest to you.

  3. Latest results Oct 2011 from the Chicago Celiac Center (worse than in April!):

TgG IgA 53 (20 or less is normal)

Deam gliadin IgA Ab 83 (20 or less is normal)

Have to get a repeat endoscopy on Nov 17 in the Chicago Celiac Center to see why I'm not responding to the gluten-free diet and if there are other issues.

  4. these last few months have been strange for me. My periods are almost always very regular but a couple of months ago, I got one and kept bleeding for well over 2 weeks. I wasn't bleeding very hard but it went on and on. My gyn seemed to think that it was due to not ovulating. Then my last period came early but other than that, there was no problem. This period...
  5. thanks, everyone, for all of your suggestions. I'll be going to Asheville and Sylva, NC and northern Georgia in less than a week. Looks like there are slim pickings in that area except for Asheville, which is supposed to be great.
  6. Ok, thanks for letting me know. I won't eat any in the future until they are more clear about their policies. I can't stand companies who are so vague and unhelpful!
  7. does anyone know if the small size regular ones are safe? I seem to be very sensitive to CC, but don't have any instant reaction (it just seems to wear down my immune system over time). Really conflicted as to whether I should eat it or not...
  8. No, I don't use their microwave popcorn. I'm just talking about their plain corn kernels. So there is no risk with cross contamination and their plain corn kernels?
  9. I'm aware that Orville popcorn is gluten free in itself, but is it produced in a gluten free facility? I have problems with cross contamination.
  10. I'm no longer so new. And I feel welcome in this community!

  11. I am taking Gabapentin (the generic brand of Neurontin) and just had a pharmacist check to see if there was gluten in this medication. She called back saying that there was "cornstarch gluten" in it. I asked her what that was and she said she had never heard that phrase before. Needless to say, she doesn't know whether it's a problem for me to take or not...
  12. Unlike you all, I do not know when I'm glutened. I seem to have no distinct symptoms that I can trace. I have atypical celiac disease, the kind without the typical GI symptoms, but rather other types of problems. I think it must be a really delayed reaction. And I have no idea how delayed. I just get worse gradually, sometimes over a period of months. My...
  13. Recent results from the University of Chicago Celiac Center (unfortunately, not good):

TgG IgA 44 (20 or less is normal)

glaiden gluten protein 79 (20 or less is normal)

they just told me to go on a stricter diet...

  14. is new. Please welcome me into the community!

  15. Welcome to celiac com Coolclimates! I see you do some wool work. I know an artist who does work art also. I'll send her your ETsY shop info. :-)

  16. Sounds like I should take a trip there, next! It's frustrating how backwards the US is compared to many countries in Europe. Hopefully someday we will catch up.
  17. Thanks, I'll check it out. By the way, Finland is a FANTASTIC country for those struggling with celiac disease and gluten intolerance. Nearly all restaurant menus were clearly marked with gluten-free dishes (as well as dairy and some other foods) and many of the supermarkets had an impressive selection of gluten-free foods. Also, almost everyone there whom...
  18. Blood tests in Feb 2010: positive IgA, negative IgG

Biopsy on April 20: blunting of villi and irration/inflamation of the intestine reported.

Diagnosed with Celiac Disease on May 4, 2010

    started gluten-free diet on May 5, 2010

  19. Funny that you mention Finland. I'll be going there in 2 weeks! I can't wait.
  20. I've searched a lot on the internet, but can't seem to come up with much on particular tour companies that specify in gluten-free travel tours. I know of Ruth and Bob's Gluten-fee Getaways, but was wondering if there were any other such companies. Also, the Ruth and Bob's getaways are pretty pricey, so more budget minded tours would be great. Does anyone...
  21. there seem to be less nights I have RL syndrome, although I notice if I do a a lot of spinning (I spin yarn, esp. at night) I'm more apt to get the RL. Mine don't bother me until early in the morning. I'm no a pretty high dose of Mirapex and Gabiprintin (Neurontin) and also take 1 Clonazapam per evening. Sorry about the bad spelling.
  22. I feel like my restless legs have improved a bit, but can't figure out if it's that I'm taking sleeping pills or what. I also notice that RL is a very cyclical thing for me. The worst few nights that I have RL are right before my period. Anyone else experience this?
  23. i've been on the gluten-free diet for 3 weeks now and my restless legs haven't gotten much better, hard to tell if there's much improvement at all. I have increased my Nuerontin to 600 mg per night and am taking 1.5 pills of Mirapex and 1 Clonazapan each night, so that's been helping. I'm hoping that this diet will help with the restless legs as well.
  24. I'm new. Please welcome me into the community!
