  1. Any info on Lite Salt (Mortons)? Ingredients: salt, potassium chloride, calcium silicate, magnesium carbonate, dextrose, potassium iodide. And, if these ingredients aren't gluten, what may be the one that caused...yes, tongue burning, again! Is there a list of common allergies to some of these types of ingredients? Is there anything common? Ha!
  2. I've "searched" for this diet on the site, but come up with millions of "diet" posts and lotsa "elimination" posts. Can anyone share what this diet is? What are the foods you can eat on it? How it works? Thanks!
  3. Thanks for your response, Shauna. I looked up OAS and this is what I found: Ragweed (weed): melons (watermelon, cantaloupe, honeydew), bananas, cucumbers and zucchini. Birch (tree): potatoes, carrots, cherries, celery, apples, pears, plums, peaches, parsnip, kiwi, HAZELNUTS and apricots. Mugwort (weed): celery, carrots, various spices. Grasses: tomatoes...
  4. Hello, it's me again! After giving it some thought, it has to be something that I'm doing every day. A couple of times a day with my coffee, I add a little lactaid milk, brown sugar (don't know ingredients...I take it out of the bag and put in a container), McCormick Ground Cinnamon, and a little Trader Joe's Vanilla Flavoring. The ingredients are: glycerine...
  5. Hi. Thanks for your response. What is the name of the genetic disease? I don't recall any family members having anything such as this. Did her muscle wasting begin slowly as mine did? And, how is the rest of her hands doing? I really have felt better since on diet and know when I've been "glutened."
  6. Thanks for your response. This began very slowly in my thumb, now more than a year ago..in January 2009. There was no injury or surgery prior (except for the December 2009 surgery to correct the problem). I thought it was from being a massage therapist for so many years, thought it was from using hot stones, thought it was from using hand-held medicine...
  7. For a year, I have been going back and forth to UCSF trying to diagnose why the muscles in my left hand are wasting away. Needless to day, using my thumb, index finger, middle finger is getting more and more difficult! My daily activities become more and more difficult to perform (zipping zippers, buttoning buttons, holding my blow dryer, and the list can...
  8. I've been gluten free (as much as possible) since mid-May. Bought some gluten-free crackers a couple of days ago, snacked on them for 2 days (ok, inhaled them), and my tongue began burning...I just thought it was because the crackers seemed very salty. Now, 3-4 days later, I have my typical symptoms (lethargy, foggy mind, post-nasal drip, anxiety, blah...
  9. I'm so sorry to hear that a gluten free restrauant is so untrustworthy...scares me to think that they advertise as such, but really aren't very helpful when it comes to their customers. Why did he open a gluten-free restaurant in the first place?? Did he think that this was a new "trend" and wanted to cash in on it?? But, just a thought, people who don...
  10. For more than a year now, neurologists at UC San Francisco have been trying to figure out why the muscles in my left hand are atrophied. I've had several EMGs, MRI, CT scans and even had surgery for thoracic syndrome last December...still getting worse...my left hand looks like a skeleton and of course trying to do anything with it just doesn't work. My...

  12. Are you talking about EMG test?
  13. Thank you all for your comments. There sure is lots to take into consieration!
  14. What about the gel and plastic capsules supplements come in?
  15. I take supplements (a packet a day) for women over 50. I called the company to make sure there was no gluten (or wheat, barley, rye, etc) in the supplements. A representative called back and left a message specifically saying there is NO gluten in the supplements. But what about the "gel" capsules that contain the supplements? Or, the "plastic" capsules...
  16. But, I ate the same mushrooms (uncooked this time) just the day before. Is it still a possibility it was the muchrooms??
  17. I'm just beginning this journey and have been gluten-free about a month now. I took my dogs for a walk and when we got home, I began to clean up the kitchen (ugh...no dishwasher so I hate cooking!) I popped a mushroom in my mouth that I had pre-cooked about an hour prior. I just sauteed them in my gluten-free frying pan with some olive oil and some Morton...
  18. I was diagnosed with celiac last Wednesday, 5/26. I've been doing the best I can on my own to eliminate gluten from my diet...haven't begun to take a look at my cosmetics and body care products. I have an appointment this Thursday with a new gastro doc...but until then..... These are my test results: tTG Ab,IgA >100 Unit: U/mL Reference Range...
  19. i was just diagnosed with celiac disease on wednesday may 26th and I have been a type 1 diabetic for 26 years. a year ago, i began to notice my left hand becoming week and very slowly the muscles have become atrophied (actually looks like a skeleton hand now). this makes it difficult to do many things like button buttons, zip zippers, theres not enough...
