In a perfect world the test would be definitive for the disease but the blood tests for celiac disease are not 100% specific nor sensitive. Ema has a high sensitivity and specificity (according to the article posted at facs at this website) because it correlates to total villi atrophy. Anyone with a negative biopsy is considered negative for celiac disease...
