  1. Hello! I too think that the people here can help you better if you give them all the background info first. My first post was very recently, and I swear it was more like a novel! I apologized for the length, but I got wonderful and helpful replies! Their is a wealth of knowledge and advice here on this site if you use the tool right. That...
  2. I am happy to report that my significant other has been super supportive since my diagnosis! He split the kitchen pantry into his and her's sides. He is going to "go gluten-free" with me on some foods, like pasta and coffee creamers. I am buying my own toaster this weekend. So far, he has been more active in researching and preparing for our new lives...
  3. Hello there! I posted something very similar to your experience on this board a few days ago! I too was told that I "probably" had celiac, and to stop eating gluten until my tests results came in to "confirm" the dx. When I went in to see my doc, he told me that both methods of diagnosing me were negative for celiac! (Blood test and endoscopy scope biopsy...
  4. RiceGuy~ I am finding this discussion of B-12 fascinating! I too struggle with insomnia. Nothing too terrible, I just wake a lot during the night and drive my boyfriend and myself nuts! I had gastric bypass surgery 3 years ago (well before being diagnosed with celiac disease), and one of the vitamins I MUST TAKE is sub-lingual B-12. My bypass surgeon...
  5. is newly diagnosed and loves this site and the kindness that others show in times of need.

  6. Thanks you so much for your reply! I can't tell you how helpful it is to hear that someone else has been through a similar experience. I had tears in my eyes as I read the part where you say "you are diagnosed. Now you can heal..." And thanks for the warning that other tests may not come up positive either. Since I am not willing to eat gluten to get sick...
  7. Hello friends! I am so confused right now, and could really use some help. My story requires some background info, so forgive me while I try to "get to the point" asap, but give you the background story to understand my situation... Last November, I was hospitalized for severe abdominal pain. A GI doctor (we'll call him Doctor F.) was called in and I...
  8. Wow. Thank you so much for starting this thread! I am also newly diagnosed with Celiac, and the disease is explaining A LOT of medical issues in my life, both mental and physical. I honestly thought I was going crazy at times. My health was failing, I was so depressed I was contemplating ways to commit suicide on a weekly basis, and doctors couldn't figure...
  9. Thanks for your responses! Sounds like the Balsamic "jury" is still "out". I think I'll remove it from my diet regardless, as any risk is not worth it. Thanks again! Heather
  10. Hello fellow Celiacs! My name is Heather and I am newly diagnosed with Celiac Disease *it's been about a week*. My Dad has had the disease since I was a teenager, so when I was diagnosed, I was at least a little familiar with the diet in general. First I'll tell you a little about me, as an introduction. I am a 35 year old mother of 2 boys, ages ...
