  1. I had been on and off Atkins several times before I was diagnosed. I had withdrawals and always missed my carbs for the 1st couple of weeks, and usually felt worse during that time. Eventually, my body would adjust and I would be fine. I don't think my celiac was in full force at the time though. When my gall bladder came out in 2009, and I still...
  2. I have been living gluten free for 3 months now after being dx'd with Celiac. Prior to the diagnosis, my primary care doctor was treating me for possible fibromyalgia with meds for the pain, muscle relaxers and sleep aids. I was really hoping that the change in my diet would "cure" the fibro, as alot of the Celiac symptoms are the same. I finally went...
  3. I think I got glutened today at a wedding. I only had fruit, and some salami-type roll up things for appetizers. Dinner was a salad (it did have croutons mixed in, but I didn't eat them), potatoes and chicken. It was probably the croutons and the little bit of sauce the chicken had. I've only been dx'd for a month and this was my first event I had been...
  4. I am newly diagnosed and live in Willows-just west of Chico about 40 miles. I was diagnosed in July. I also went through the whole cycle of seeing a local GI who never tested for celiac, but did do an upper endoscopy that was negative (I think he only took 2 biopsy samples). My primary care knew I was getting sicker, and tested for celiac as well, but...
  5. I have all 3 as well. I also was dx'd with Irritable Bowel, but I am hoping that is really just Celiac, and the IBS goes away. Actually I would like all of it to go away, and for the Celiac to be tamed, but I'm a newbie, so I don't know what will happen as time goes by.
  6. I don't knit anymore (hurts my hands), but I cross-stitch. I have been an avid stitcher for several years now, and found even before I was diagnosed, it is very theraputic. The repeative motion allows my mind to wander, and it is sort of like meditating.
  7. Wow-so many of the things I am reading from you guys sound just like my life! My stomach issues started much later in life (I'm not that old, only 42). I always felt like I had IBS issues in my life, getting it from my mom. But it didn't really bad until about 2 years ago. I had stomach pain, had a CT and ultrasound for my gall bladder. They were both...
  8. Seriously-a year? I know that there isn't an "insta-fix", but dang, a whole year? I want to feel better now. I've done this gut-ache thing too long as it is, I want to get better!
  9. I had a EMA IgA test come back positive at the end of June, and had another upper endoscopy done last week. (I had one previously in Oct 2009 that was normal.) I got a call from my Dr. today-the biopsy of my small intestine came back positive for Celiac as well. So after a 18 months or so of misery, I finally got a diagnosis. I know that there is nothing...
  10. Thank you for the translation! I guess I should just plan on being gluten free regardless of the biopsy results and make it my new life-style. My son is a type-1 diabetic, and I do know that celiac can go hand-in-hand with type-1, so I guess I should make sure he gets tested too. Thanks again! Susan
  11. Hi-I am new to the board and would love some input from people that have been dealing with Celiac. I had my gall bladder taken out last year, and since then still have pain, along with diarrhea and IBS symptoms, plus some autoimmune and fibromyalgia issues.. I had an upper endoscopy done in October, and the results were just mild inflammation. Since...
