  1. We really do need for the FDA to recognize Celiac and step it up. There are a lot of products out here that include ingredients that are bad for us and we need a degree in science or medicine to understand them. I really hope you're feeling better. Sending healing energy, Loey
  2. I'm waiting for that to be next. We will make it through this crazy illness together. Loey
  3. So sorry that the barley got you. We really need the FDA to do something about labeling. I hope you feel better soon. Sending healing hugs and positive energy, Loey
  4. I'm so sorry for your frustration. The holidays are a particularly hard time to deal with people who don't understand Celiac. Some people are so sensitive that they can get glutened by just being around it and not eating it (I know there's controversy over this). It can happen in a restaurant when someone at your table eats bread or at a supermarket when...
  5. I found that the gluten-free diet is relatively easy but have recently been diagnosed with an ulcer and IBS as well. That's a whole different combination of issues. I'm changing GI's and will hopefully be given guidance as my current one hasn't given me any. I was diagnosed the night before I moved o a new state (June 2010) and loved my old GI. My new one...
  6. I was also told that it takes 6 months to show that you are gluten-free in blood test results. Not sure if I'm accurate or not. Corn has been a big no no for me so I agree about eliminating it. I'm on a full elimination diet (only eat rice, veggies and eggs) and I still feel like crap. I was diagnosed with an ulcer and IBS in addition to the Celiac. This...
  7. I repeat: How can she not love our dear sweet Jesse? Loey
  8. It would fit on my entire hand. They're very religious so it definitely wouldn't go over well. Loey
  9. Just remember we're all here for you and you're never alone. Feel free to PM me anytime to vent. You've got a lot on your plate (no pun intended). If your biological family doesn't get it your adopted forum one does!!!! Healing hugs, Loey
  10. My husband sent me the cutest email but I don't know f there's anyway to post it online. Once you click on the file it's a powerpoint. Thanks, Loey
  11. Thanks Jesee. Right now I've spoken to him and pot roast seems like a fair bet but I need a dessert and appetizer. He can have olive oil. Don't know if chick peas are a legume so I'll have it for m Clark and his wife. You guys are the best!!!! Loey
  12. I wish your family knew how much you would like to be able to eat whatever you wanted and not be worried about CC. They don't realize how lucky they are to not have to deal with the food issues that we do. Went to a funeral recently and we stayed overnight at my husband's cousin's house. He didn't quite get the restrictions but left my food alone and let...
  13. I'll keep you in my prayers! Loey
  14. That's so sad. Loey
  15. It reminded me of a diaphragm when I first saw it. Have I scared our dear Pet-err and GFinDCee away???? I sure hope not! I did pfinish wrapping all of the presents. Then took a looong snooze. Having Clark's pfriend (recommended the new GI) and wife over for dinner Saturday night. Will be cooking for IBS and Celiac. Thinking of make Chicken Paprikash...
  16. I eat a lot of Thai food. I've gotten to know the man who runs the local restaurant and he keeps a separate pan for me and I bring in my own bottle of olive oil for him too use as that' the only oil I can currently tolerate. I went to PF Chang when I was first following the gluten-free diet but unfortunately I've become much more sensitive to almost everything...
  17. Here's a list of medications that are supposed to be gluten-free. Always double check the label and/or the manufacturer's website. Loey Open Original Shared Link
  18. Welcome to the forum. You couldn't have found abetter group of people gathered together anywhere. They are wise and generous with their knowledge. I was only diagnosed last May and am still struggling to find my footing. I don't know what I would do without this forum and hope I never need to find out. There is a thread with recipes and cooking tis under...
  19. My mother told me she enjoyed sex. That was when I was in college. She just told me to be safe. Tony has told us on numerous occasions that he could have had sex by now but that's not what he's looking for. He wants something more meaningful. He's never had a girlfriend or been kissed (although he's had girls he liked). For the past week every night...
  20. Sounds like a practical gift. He's already in college, right? Hopefully I didn't mortify you. Tony has always been very open around us. When he was little he asked me if his "pee pee was larger than his dad's" Must be the Spaniard in him. I just spent two hours wrapping gifts after tutoring my little girl. She's the sweetest thing ever and I really...
  21. Returning to being psilly (and I hope I don't offend anyone or get kicked out of my dear psilly thread) Clark and I bought Tony some rather disturbing gifts for Christmas (it's the what do you buy the boy who only wants money). We bought him an "Enormex Condem" (he's still a virgin but always talks about how large he is). We've always been open talking about...
  22. What a great way to look at it. Loey
  23. I think we all are. The one great thing we have going for us is this forum. I have never met a wiser, kinder and more supportive people gathered together is one place. Just remember you have all of us and we've all gone through people not understanding (or not trying to understand)why we can't eat gluten (and some of us can't eat other things). If you're...
  24. A heating pad and herbal (mint or chamomile tea) can provide some relief. I'm so sorry for what you're going through and even more sorry that you can't share the circumstances. It would make it a lot easier to help you. I was paranoid when I first joined the forum that my GI would see my posts (as if he spends his free time on it). I do understand that some...
