ARCHIVED Family Thinks I Am Neurotic...
norahsmommy posted a topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
They think I am purposely looking for things 'wrong' with my kids. I had a miscarriage 2 yrs ago at 12 wks gestation, and 2 wks later I was pregnant with our youngest daughter. It was a stressful time and I worried alot. When she was born I was very relieved. She was a perfect and easy baby. Very different from my fist 2 who never slept and cried all the... -
I asked my mom this same thing and she said it was normal to have problems when reintroducing gluten. Basically everyone I asked said it was normal. However those same people have really limited or no knowledge about gluten intolerance. My mom went gluten free a few years ago to see if her bowel problems and rashes were due to that. She said she had some...

So for someone who is NOT celiac is it 'normal' and common for someone who has been gluten free for a few months to have problems eating it? I have been wondering about myself. I have been gluten free for at least 3 months because I nurse my daughter who is gluten intolerant. I ate mcdonalds last week and got horrible bm's and bloating like I couldn't...

ARCHIVED Rash Related To Gluten Intolerance Or Not?
norahsmommy posted a topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
My 1 yr old has a rash on the back of her right arm right above her elbow. It started bright red and looked like a rug burn, then it got this crust over the top that cracked and bled a bit, now its flaking and dry. The crust is coming off and it looks kind of like an old popped blister. She has never had a rash like that before. I was wondering if its psoriasis... -
ARCHIVED Are They Gluten Free Cookies Or Not?
norahsmommy replied to norahsmommy's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
she didn't mail order the flour, she made them the next day after asking me where to buy all the different flours for the cookies and where to find xanthan gum. I reccomended bobs red mill and gave her some xanthan gum. I also warned her about cross contamination and asked her to be really careful if she planned to make regular cookies too. She said she... -
ARCHIVED Are They Gluten Free Cookies Or Not?
norahsmommy posted a topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
My MIL made us 2 batches of christmas cookies. 1 regular for us and 1 for our daughter who is gluten intolerant. I ate one just to see how they turned out since I haven't attempted gluten-free sugar cookies yet. She did not use a mix, she made if from scratch from a recipe she found online. However it called for several different flours and I know you... -
ARCHIVED She's Bloated Again!
norahsmommy replied to BeHappy's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
she was bloated last time by the end of the day. It was like she filled up with gas. The next day she was bloated and farting constantly. Then she was constipated for 2 days and had a hard painful stool. Then she went back to normal. That was pretty mild. She only had a little bit of gluten. (3 mcdonalds french fries that they dust with flour.) -
ARCHIVED She's Bloated Again!
norahsmommy replied to BeHappy's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I'm sorry. My dd's belly has been bloated every day since she was about 6 months old. I didn't realize it was bloated until recently when the bloat finally went away. It was an amazing change. She gets bloated again though when she gets gluten. Maybe some cc happened? -
ARCHIVED Fell Off The Wagon And Feel Sooo Bloated And Icky
norahsmommy posted a topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I have been gluten free for about 3 months since I am nursing a gluten intolerant child. She is mostly weaned now and I was out and about and didn't want to cook so I picked up McDonald's, then today I ate regular Christmas cookies. I feel sooooo icky, bloated and quite frankly passing gas that would knock an elephant over. Its sooo very stinky it repels... -

cheetos potato chips corn type snacks, which are gluten free? I am having trouble finding out. Some things I read lables online or on the bag and it says they have been made on the same lines as gluten foods but they are washed between production cycles. Which products are ok that don't cost a ton? And if anyone shops at aldi's which of their products are... -
ARCHIVED Kroger Deli gluten-free Sign
norahsmommy replied to lovegrov's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I was just thinking that about kroger. I really want some deli meat but I am not sure if they cut all their stuff on one slicer or if they have a dedicated slicer. It would be great if they did! Next week I will ask -
ARCHIVED Tortilla Chips?
norahsmommy posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I thought corn chips would be ok, however every bag I pick up seems to say "may contain traces of wheat" or made on the same machinery as wheat products. So which main stream corn chips are ok?? -
ARCHIVED Eating Gluten Every Weekend Enough For Testing?
norahsmommy replied to norahsmommy's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I may just be getting paranoid and they may have nothing wrong with them, however the younger one seems to have a problem and there isnt much doubt. SHe vomits when fed any large amount of gluten (such as a half piece of bread)And has intense stomach pain and very painful foul smelling stool, its white or grey and grainy also when she has had large amounts... -

My 2 older kids ages 3 and 6 may also have gluten problems like their baby sister. I noticed it in the baby because right after we started feeding her oatmeal, gerber puffs (made with whole wheat flour) and pasta she started behaving differently and her bm's changed from very soft almost liquid to huge and hard and very painful. No amount of juice or prunes... -
ARCHIVED Painful Bm's In 1 Yr Old
norahsmommy replied to norahsmommy's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
no cheese, and I water down her apple juice by half but she hasn't been interested in any drinks from a sippy lately so I gave her 6 oz full strength apple juice yesterday to see if it would get things moving and if she would drink it. She did drink it but it did nothing to make her go easier. I use method baby on her right now, but was using johnsons lavender... -
ARCHIVED Painful Bm's In 1 Yr Old
norahsmommy posted a topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Painful bm's, constipation or lots of crankiness are signs that my daughter has had gluten. She has been having terrible painful bm's every day for about a week now. I can't figure out what is wrong! I stopped all dairy thinking that was it but it hasn't helped. I evaluated my diet and cut out all gluten because she is still nursing and that hasn't helped... -
ARCHIVED "No, No Wheat In There, Just Bread."
norahsmommy replied to Monklady123's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
sounds alot like my thanksgiving with grandma. She saved some halloween candy for the kids and she wanted to give some to my 13 month old who is gluten intolerant. "Can she have a kit kat bar?" Me "no, those have wheat in them" Her "no, it has cookie in it not bread.." Me "the cookie has wheat flour in it" Her, "oh, can she have a twix bar, those... -
ARCHIVED Need To Get A Job, So Nervous To Leave Daughter With Someone!
norahsmommy replied to norahsmommy's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
well I don't think he did a skin prick specifically for gluten. I know wheat was one of them. She did not have an allergic reaction to wheat. He said she didn't react to anything. But he still told me not to feed her dairy, eggs or gluten. I don't get it. -
ARCHIVED Need To Get A Job, So Nervous To Leave Daughter With Someone!
norahsmommy replied to norahsmommy's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
she is 13 months. So far the doc has sent us to an allergist to rule out something simple. But all the allergist did was a skin prick test and that was it. Then he asked if celiac ran in the family and I said no because no one in the family has a dx, and he said ok, come back in 3 months but don't feed her gluten, eggs and dairy and well see if she can... -
ARCHIVED Need To Get A Job, So Nervous To Leave Daughter With Someone!
norahsmommy replied to norahsmommy's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I packed ALL my daughters food last time she was at mil's house. I packed dishes and sippy cups, EVERYTHING and not only did MIL not feed her much of the food I packed, she didn't use the dishes I sent because, 'I already have all that stuff." Thats what she told me. I told her not to give her any dairy because we cut it from her diet to see if that helped... -
ARCHIVED Need To Get A Job, So Nervous To Leave Daughter With Someone!
norahsmommy posted a topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
EVERY time and I mean EVERY time I ask someone to babysit my daughter she gets gluten somehow. It takes a couple of days to know for sure if she has gotten it because she gets constipated and has tummy issues and crankiness. So by the time symptoms show up no one thinks its their fault she got sick. "oh it couldn't have been something at my house, she... -
