ARCHIVED Cyrex Cross Reactivity Test Accuracy?
laura4669 replied to laura4669's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Wow, okay, thanks for the info. So it seems like many people don't think this test is valid. That may be true, it is hard to tell sometimes. -
ARCHIVED Cyrex Cross Reactivity Test Accuracy?
laura4669 posted a topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Hi All, I received my results from the Cyrex Cross Reactivity Test, and I was shocked to find out that in addition to gluten sensitivity, I cross react with a bunch of other foods including: corn, rice, potato, chocolate, quinoa and amaranth! I am so upset, since all of the gluten-free foods are made with rice, corn and/or potato flour! So, after 3 years... -
ARCHIVED Has Anyone Achieved Remission Of A Secondary Ai Disease By Treating celiac disease?
laura4669 replied to CNV2855's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I recently had a positive ANA test, but at this point I am not sure what type of autoimmune disease I have. In addition to being gluten sensitive, I also tested positive for reactions to most other grains, including corn, rice, amaranth, quinoa, as well as dairy, chocolate, potatoes and coffee. Many of the foods that we eat as substitutes for gluten can... -

ARCHIVED B12 Deficiency Anemia?
laura4669 replied to HopefulMama23's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
You might also check into other food intolerances, which can cause some of your most recent symptoms. I found out I was intolerant to most other grains, as well as dairy, potatoes and chocolate! I also take B12, however, I need to take it sublingually since I don't seem to absorb it through my gut. As the previous poster suggested, you might check into... -
ARCHIVED Hair Loss Worse After Starting Paleo Type Diet?
laura4669 replied to laura4669's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
I am using mostly organic, free range meats and eggs. I am also on thyroid meds for low thyroid, however, I have tested negative for Hashimoto's. I do have low ferritin, but D and B12 are okay. Maybe I need to up my thyroid meds. The increase in hair loss coordinated so closely to when I started the Paleo Diet, that I just thought there might be some... -
ARCHIVED Hair Loss Worse After Starting Paleo Type Diet?
laura4669 posted a topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
I have been doing a mostly Paleo diet for about six weeks now - a lot of meat and good fats (coconut oil and ghee), veggies, nuts and a few fruits. My hair was falling out before, but now it is literally coming out in handfuls! I am shocked, as I thought a high protein diet would improve the situation. I am planning on starting the GAPS diet in another... -
ARCHIVED 10 Year Old's Observations
laura4669 replied to domesticactivist's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Your son sounds like a very wise young man! -
Thank you Korwyn! That advice is very helpful! I will plan to stock up before I begin. As it is, I am going away this weekend so I decided not to even think about it until I return, and I can really sit down and plan. We are going to buy a freezer to put in our basement, which should help with freezing meals.

Thanks Jenn! Yes, I am a little nervous about how much work this is going to be. I have two small children, and I spend most of my time taking care of their needs! I just feel so bad though, that I think I will be a better mom if I can heal my gut. I have NO energy, and my hair falling out in handfuls just puts me in a bad mood every day. My husband...

Wow, thanks so much domesticactivist! I think I have seen some of your other posts. I have been doing mostly Paleo, but I really think I need to try GAPS. It just seems like so much work to make all of the homemade food, especially with traveling during the summer. I guess I will just do the best I can. I am so sick of being sick!!

ARCHIVED Stool Analysis Results - Low Siga
laura4669 replied to laura4669's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Thank you burdee! I suspect the culprit is food allergens. I did have bacteria and parasites, but I took antibiotics, and it appears that they are gone. Of course, there is always some bacteria in our guts, but I think what is there now is not a problem. I have heard great things about L-glutamine, I am going to try that. -
I recently received the results of a stool test done by Diagnos-Techs, and it showed I have very low Total Intestinal SIgA (16), with the normal amount being over 400. Does anyone know what that means??? It also said I had high Alpha Anti-Chymotrypsin (174), with the normal amount being below 60. This indicates colonic inflammation. How do I fix these...

I have the same issues with food sensitivities. Is the GAP diet the same as the Paleo diet? I have also heard of the SCD, but I am not sure what the differences are. I think they all basically take out grains, dairy and sugar, is that correct? Thanks. Laura

ARCHIVED Is My Doctor An Idiot? Gluten Intolerance Vs Celiac
laura4669 replied to Hulda's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I agree with everything "mushroom" said in the previous post, and I will add some of my own story. I am gluten intolerant, but not technically not celiac. I tested negative on the blood test and I also had a negative endoscopy. I did however, have a positive stool analysis three times showing extremely high levels of inflammation in my gut due to gluten... -

ARCHIVED Looking For Corn Free Eggs
laura4669 replied to laura4669's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
I think you are correct, I might just need to work with a local farmer. I am not sure that they are being fed GMO's, but after everything I have been reading, I believe there are a lot of things that go on that are not totally revealed to the consumer. -
I found out I am sensitive to corn, and I am looking for corn free eggs. Most organic, free range eggs that I have found come from chickens fed a vegetarian diet, which includes soybeans and corn (GMO I am sure). Would love to not have the soy either. Anyone know of any sources? Thanks!

ARCHIVED Testing For Non Celiac Gluten Sensitivity
laura4669 replied to DoogiePCT's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I am not sure if there are any blood tests, but I was diagnosed with gluten sensitivity three times with a stool analysis. My blood tests and endoscopy came back negative for celiac, but gluten was clearly causing inflammation in my gut. -
ARCHIVED Gluten Associated Sensitivity & Cross Reactive Foods
laura4669 replied to laura4669's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
I took a blood test with Cyrex Labs. They have a brand new test that just came out this year. It tests your IgG + IgA reactions to foods that commonly cross react. I also have neurological symptoms. I agree that an elimination diet is the most accurate, but I found it extremely time consuming and almost impossible to do one. When I did attempt it, I was... -

ARCHIVED Gluten Associated Sensitivity & Cross Reactive Foods
laura4669 replied to laura4669's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
I am very thin also, and I can't seem to GAIN weight! I was hoping to hold on the the gluten-free oats, but it does sound like I need to give them up too. I am hoping that the good quality fats and fruits I eat will keep some weight on me. -
ARCHIVED Gluten Associated Sensitivity & Cross Reactive Foods
laura4669 replied to laura4669's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Wow, that is really interesting. You gave up grains, and it seems like it made a huge impact on your health. Thanks for sharing! As of yesterday, I have given up all grains, except for gluten-free oats. Maybe I should give those up too, I just get so hungry if I don't have ANY grains at all, but it sounds like it might be worth it. I am not really planning...
