  1. I am cooking a turkey meatball with Asian noodles recipe that I found. It looks delicious.
  2. True, but I am questioning whether she should go through it the first time. I am willing to listen to the doctor's side of things. But I can safely say that she would not go through it twice if she does have a false negative.
  3. Thanks and no worries! I took it sarcastically because that is something I would say. My husband accuses me of assuming that he can read my mind when I jump ahead of myself. Sometimes I make things far more confusing than they need to be.
  4. Is there a way for mods to close the old threads, but still leave them up for reference? It might solve the problem. I have a small mom's forum and we sometimes do that, though it is usually spammer dredging up old threads for us.
  5. I understand that we need to go gluten free. However, we are still at that crossroads where GI nurse told us to keep her on gluten until she has an endoscopy. Since we are still not 100% sure what we are going to do, I don't want to put her in a position where she will have a false negative on a biopsy, but I don't want her in pain. This grey area pretty...
  6. Ahhhh yes.....the almighty label. I really should have thought that through. I know how important it is for my oldest to get her services. I think I am going to push the GI for a diagnosis without an endoscopy. Luckily we know her because my oldest is also her patient for other reasons. If it works, great. If not, we will decided what to do then. I don't...
  7. We don't even have the biopsy scheduled. We have her first GI appt next Friday and will discuss scheduling the biopsy then. The GI nurse told me that she should continue to eat gluten foods until then. I know they aren't forcing me to do this. It's just that everything is so new to me. I think I am going to go start cleaning out my kitchen, so I can start...
  8. The waiting part certainly is the worst. The wheels of medicine do spin too slowly for us parents! My 4 year old daughter recently had a positive blood test, as well. I am still waiting for her ped to give me the copy of the test results, so I am not sure exactly what the numbers say. She has her first GI appt next week. She is not underweight either, but...
  9. Do I really have to make my poor child eat things that contain gluten until she can have an endoscopy? She had a positive blood test. She hardly eats stuff with gluten in it anyway...I think it is an instinctive choice on her part. However, when she does have it, poor kid is in soooooo much pain. Yesterday I went to a cookie exchange. She had some cookies...
  10. Uh oh...I am going to have finally figure out my rice cooker. My brother and his wife gave us one a few years ago. We tried it once and definitely did something wrong because what came out was not edible. Corn is out because I can't eat it, so it would make life easier if we knew how to use it. It occurred to me this weekend that ordering delivery after...
  11. I haven't faced this situation yet, but I would mention it or they will never know. It reminds me of when my grandfather first went to meet my grandma's aunt. Her aunt had accidentally overcooked the jelly she had made. My grandfather, trying to be polite, told her that was just the way he liked it(he thought it was terrible). So, for the rest of her life...
  12. Thanks! It is that 5% that I am worried about. I am just so glad that her preschool already knows how to handle this. They already have another student with celiac. They did a total makeover in that classroom since baking is a big part of Montessori. Good luck in Miami! It sounds like a fabulous place to have a wedding. I am worried about travel...
  13. How hard is it to cook gluten free? We have decided that our home is going to become essentially gluten free after my daughter's endo/biopsy. There are a few snacks that my middle daughter loves that I don't see making her give up easily. Luckily the youngest daughter doesn't like those so we can work something out to keep that separate. My middle daughter...

    ARCHIVED Five Guys

I am so glad to find this. I am originally from Virginia and grew up with the original Five Guys. When they opened up here in Minnesota, I was overjoyed! I am so glad my family will get to continue to enjoy the Five Guys experience...whether our waistlines should is another matter.
  15. Thanks, Roda. I will probably get everyone tested. Though, I don't relish the experience with the 6 year old. I have to dig her out from underneath the examination table every year for her flu shot. She can be a bit dramatic. A blood draw is going to take it to a whole new level. If Laura's biopsy is positive, I am not inclined to do it for the other kids...
  16. When we lived in Virginia, my oldest was a patient of Lynn Duffy and then, Peter Lee. She doesn't have celiac though, we were there for other reasons. That is a great group. Now that we have a positive blood test for my 4 year old for celiac, I would definitely take her to them, if we still lived in the area. I highly recommend them.
  17. We just got the results this morning, over the phone. My youngest daughter had a positive blood test for celiac. I managed to get her a GI appt on December 10,which is much earlier than the receptionist was telling me. My oldest is disabled so I know how to work the system a bit. Right now though, I am feeling a bit overwhelmed. I was told that we need...
