About Me

I was diagnosed with Celiac about 10 years ago. I also have lactose intolerance and IBS.

-- Other than that I am a Lab Tech and have worked in healthcare for 6 years, and just recently I made the switch to the financial world, and am now a banker. (Weird I know)

I enjoy reading, watching reality TV shows, and going out dancing!

  1. I buy it for almost 8$ a loaf but I live in a small town in Canada. I guess they can charge what they want because they know people like me have no where else to buy it! And it is almost always sold out.
  2. Here in Canada I buy the kinnickinnick ones and they are very good. Have made smores with them even! The crushed Graham crumbs are also great for baking!
  3. I live about 2 hours North East of Edmonton-- have you been to planet organic off Whyte Ave? Where do you usually do your shopping? Strathcona farmers market has amazing home made gluten free pies and other treats!
  4. While the topic of gluten-free bread is still up I just have to say that after reading hundreds of posts on here about the famous Udi's (which I didn't think was available in Canada let alone anywhere near my small town of 1000 people), I found it 40 minutes away at Sobey's! I almost cried when I tasted it. After 10 sandwich-less years I ate 2 in a row. Even...
  5. I truly feel for you. I also had borderline bloodwork (10 years ago now) and inconclusive blood test results. I think it's extremely unfair that they did not biopsy you. I work in histopathology ( we are the ones who get all the biopsy results and study each one under the microscope ) and if any of our docs do a scope they biopsy no matter what. Even if it...
  6. I'm sure you have had your B12 tested with everything else, but if you haven't I would suggest it. I have absorption issues alongside my celiac and IBS and when my B12 is low if I forget to get an injection I am clumsy, have 0 energy, can't think straight, incur memory loss, and just float in a general brain fog. This is the same for 2 of my cousins. As soon...
  7. Also forgot to mention that yes celiac disease is an auto immune disease. It is possible your mum did have it but hard to say if it was linked to cause of death or other underlying problems she may have had.
  8. Hi there I am glad to hear you are feeling a bit better. I think depending on your insurance and where you live you should have the test done. If you haven't been off gluten for too long you might not even have to start eating it again pre testing. If you do, it won't be for long and it will be worth it to have a solid diagnoses. I also think your son should...
  9. So after looking at those links I am assuming ( here in Canada ) that what we market and sell as "yams" are really sweet potatoes. A sweet potato is ORANGE looking and a true yam is BEIGE more like a potato? Or do I have it backwards? I really need clarification because I love the orange ones lol. (I call yams). But have noticed that sometimes I have issues...
  10. I live in a small town in Alberta, Canada. My testing has been done around here in surrounding towns or in Edmonton which is 2 hours away.
  11. I just got the "my fitness pal" app for my iPhone last night and I already love it! Keeps track of my food and symptoms while counting my calories! Hopefully I'll she a pound or two!
  12. That sounds interesting, when will you have your scope results? And which city is it that you live in? I have had environmental testing done years and years ago as a kid but it might be worth trying again!?
  13. Oops did not realize this was such an old post!
  14. I am from Alberta and do not see why they would not test that?! Makes no sense. I also do not understand why they have not simply sent you for a gastroscopy??? best way to diagnose celiac then use the bloodwork to moniter your ttg levels after. Honestly if you saw a doctor in my small town all you would have to do is ask for whatever test you want and they...
  15. I experience many of the same problems as you but what stuck out to me was POPCORN -- If I eat that I would be in the bathroom for days. However I can have corn which is in anything else. I guess I just can't digest the kernels.
