ARCHIVED Finally Found A Pasta I Like!
Marc49 replied to Marc49's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
As I mentioned before,.....we are all unique in our tastes. I have tried the brand you mentioned above, and while it was OK, I far prefer this pasta. I tried a brown rice tortilla one time for a sandwich wrap. Pretty much like eating leather even after being steamed. I also tried corn tortillas for the same purpose, and they broke apart, plus imparted... -
ARCHIVED Finally Found A Pasta I Like!

Yes,.....they included a version that looks like small elbows which I will use for that. I know many of you folks can't handle corn for whatever reason but it does not bother me. My main issue with corn based products has been the pronounced 'corn' taste that seems to drown out other flavors. This is not like that. How they do it I have not a clue... -
I assume you are female, or I would suggest low testosterone. There are many causes of muscle wasting. Some have to do with malabsorption, and some are neurologically based. Certain drugs can cause this as well, including statins. Your protein levels in blood work should tell you if you are absorbing enough protein or not though.

I have been through I don't know how many brands of pasta to date. Some are edible, and some just stink IMHO! I have tried everything that was recommended here, and some that got great reviews I found to be horrible. I guess we are all different. Finally got some Sam Mills corn pasta. The form I got was penne rigate since that was all I could find... -
ARCHIVED Just A Warning Concerning gluten-free Pizza
Marc49 replied to Marc49's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
According to this link it does not have egg, nor some other things. Open Original Shared Link I think they are in California. I ordered them online myself, and they shipped them to my door. I found a coupon code that gave me 10% off, and bought the larger quantity. That's why I was very glad that I liked them! Ended up being right at $6.50 per 12"... -
ARCHIVED Just A Warning Concerning gluten-free Pizza

Well, if you like Schar's then you should love the Venice Bakery ones. I tried the Schar's, and while they are edible, they don't come close to these. Of course that is all in my opinion of course. Now if you like a thick, chewy crust,......these are not for you. -
ARCHIVED Udi's Hamburger Buns!
Marc49 replied to Roda's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I have been using their bagels for my bison burgers so far. Hope they start carrying these around here, and that they are not tiny!! -
ARCHIVED Just A Warning Concerning gluten-free Pizza
Marc49 replied to Marc49's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Well if anyone is still reading this thread, I decided to comment on those crusts from Venice Bakery. I got the 'seasoned' ones in 12" size. Made the first one last night, and followed what the guy told me to do. He said to be sure and brush the crust with a light coat of olive oil before putting anything on. Started with my favorite Roselli... -
ARCHIVED Just A Warning Concerning gluten-free Pizza
Marc49 replied to Marc49's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Well, the previous poster better be right! I just ordered a 10 pack of 12" crusts after calling them to ask some questions. The big ones come individually vacuum sealed, and the guy I spoke to said they would be fine in the pantry for a month or two, and 6 to 9 months if frozen. I can certainly finish off 10 in that time-frame if they are even edible... -

Yes,....you are allowed to post links to products here, as long as YOU are not trying to sell something personally. I know because a mod said so on one of my posts! I googled the name but all of the links came up as page not found. Maybe they are having a problem today. Edit: now the links are working! I see they are a sponsor here also, as... -
ARCHIVED Bread Machine Question

Hey you,......where is the tortilla wrap recipe? I must have missed it, or it was one of yours you said you wanted to 'refine' a bit. -
ARCHIVED Bread Machine Question
Marc49 replied to Marc49's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I surely need to do some research needless to say. I think I got hit by the simplicity, and also it appears to make decent sized loaves as well. Even saw some nice sized buns for burgers advertised. Seems like all of the mixes are about $6.99 so that could surely add up. Then again, I hear you 'bakers' talk about the high price of gluten-free flours... -
ARCHIVED Bread Machine Question
Marc49 replied to Marc49's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Actually Sylvia I have not. I don't mind the price per se if it's worth it, but you filled me in on something I didn't know. I had no idea you were 'stuck' with only their mixes,.....that is a big negative to me. I will check out the one you mentioned. It just seemed like this thing would be SO easy to use and to clean. -

ARCHIVED Just A Warning Concerning gluten-free Pizza
Marc49 replied to Marc49's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
The only one I have had so far that I actually considered 'edible' was a brand called Conte's I believe. Found it at Publix, but they didn't have any last trip. You can add some toppings if you want and make it better of course. The crust actually resembled a regular frozen type pizza,.......nothing like the real thing of course, but as before, edible... -
ARCHIVED Just A Warning Concerning gluten-free Pizza
Marc49 posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Wow,......my mother that lives in the same county as me found some gluten-free frozen pizza and had me pick it up. It was a brand called Amy's. Worst garbage I ever tried to eat. I'm sure some will say they love it, but I am putting out the warning for anyone that likes real pizza. There are far better choices, even in the frozen category. ... -
I have tried this once before, but got no responses so I figured I would try again since some time has passed. I am the one that gripes about mainly the bread choices we have. Most everything else I can live with. Has ANYONE here ever tried this 'Bready' machine that is advertised on the site? Granted it isn't cheap, but it looks like even a kid...

Well can't get the La Tortilla Factory Sonoma wraps around here,.....I looked all over since their website listed Publix and Winn-Dixie. Still waiting on that refined recipe L2T! -
ARCHIVED Desperate For Some Gluten-Free Onion Rings!
Marc49 replied to Jenn624's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Supposedly Trader Joe's carries some gluten-free baked onion rings if you have one nearby,.....I do not. Here is a decent looking recipe in case you change your mind. Personally you are going to have to start cooking some unless you plan on going without a number of things. Also the prepared gluten-free items are quite expensive. Open Original Shared... -
ARCHIVED Garlic Powder

Wow,......I had no idea! Thank you so much for pointing this out. Needless to say I saved a copy. Kinda feel like a dope right now! -
ARCHIVED Garlic Powder
Marc49 replied to Marc49's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
That was my thinking as well. Guess I was looking for another opinion, as trying to call the HQ of a major grocery chain to inquire about one of their 'branded' products would most likely take a week to get an answer,.....if ever! -
Does anyone know if Publix brand garlic powder is gluten-free? Yes,.....this is the store brand, from the most popular chain in my area. All it says under ingredients is garlic, so I am assuming it is the same as McCormick. If anyone knows I would appreciate it.

Open Original Shared Link I am sure many have seen this, but it appears to have high ratings, and some newbies like me might be interested. I think I am going to try it until our resident baking expert comes up with one.

ARCHIVED Another Challenge For Love2Travel!

GlutenFreeManna, that is another idea that I have not tried. I am familiar with what you are talking about as I used them a few times for spring rolls. I am only guessing that they might be a bit on the weak side without being fried which defeats the purpose. Also, I am pretty sure that the Asian market we had went out of business last year... -
ARCHIVED Made Delicious Coconut Layer Cake Today...
Marc49 replied to love2travel's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Thanks for that info,....some forums don't allow virtually any outside links. I don't think I could pull off a bison operation in Central Florida on 1.25 acres so I am certainly not the seller. Just a company that I have done about 10 transactions with over the course of a couple of years.
