  1. I know this has been asked hundreds of times, but I am new to this, and obviously have different opinions than most of the other threads I have gone through. I have tried every brand of bread I can find,.......I think it ALL stinks!!! Products that I have used and consider ok are Udi's bagels, and Kinnikinnick English muffins. While those two products...
  2. IrishHeart,......somehow I missed your response. I have gone 100% right after I started this thread. No difference yet that I can tell anyway. This was the text of my genetic testing results: "Gluten Sensitivity Gene Test HLA-DQB1 Molecular analysis, Allele 1 0302 HLA-DQB1 Molecular analysis, Allele 2 0502 Serologic equivalent...
  3. Yes,....I would love to find some decent wraps for sandwiches. I tried some large Mission white corn ones, but they crack to pieces and also make your lunch taste like corn. Unfortunately I do not have any Whole Foods around me, only Publix, Sweetbay, and Winn-Dixie. I have been unable to find any wraps that are not corn, or flour. Do the brown rice...
  4. I have already had some of the almond milk products,.....I think they are good myself. I really don't drink milk much at all, nor eat cold cereal per se. My weakness in that area is cheese I just read all of the things you have to avoid in your sig line,.......wow! I'm sorry you have all of those issues. Funny thing is I am not like most...
  5. Shopgirl,.....thanks much for your time. What you say makes a lot of sense, and being as I have already eliminated a large portion of gluten from my diet I think I will simply finish it and go 100% for 2 to 3 months. Being as I seemingly do not have 'villi' damage, I would assume I should see a noticeable difference within that timeframe? Actually I...
  6. Yes, you are correct in terms of whole foods, and I eat a lot of them. I am talking about the pastas, crackers, and convenience type foods that I DO use on occasion. I guess I need to learn more of what I speak of as I don't even know what type of test the GI guy did with the endoscopy biopsy. Are they looking for Celiac alone, or damage to the villi...
  7. Thanks for the info. I guess what I am getting at is even though I carry the genes, my GI doc says I have no signs of anything being active in me. My colonoscopy was totally clean with no polyps, and the biopsy from the endoscopy was negative. I am aware that the lower intestine is not involved BTW. Wondering if I should go back to a 100% normal diet...
  8. I had been losing weight without trying,.....gas,bloating,abdominal cramps, and diarrhea that came and went. A new doctor I went to was the one that ordered the test. He is a 'functional medicine' doctor BTW. My GI doc said I had IBS and GERD,.......irritable bowel syndrome, not the inflammatory type. This was about 5 years ago. I have been on Nexium...
  9. I signed up here not long ago after having a positive for the gene testing from EnteroLab in Texas. One celiac gene, and one non-celiac showing a predisposition for gluten intolerance. Long story short,......went into the hospital around the seventh of this month. Doctor had many tests done on me, and a colonoscopy/endoscopy was one of them. BTW,...
  10. I finally got it working,.....I think! Thanks though.
  11. I wrapped it in a damp paper towel and nuked it for about 20 seconds. I think next time I will try to toast it in the cuisinart even though I don't typically toast my bread. As I have said before,....breads will be my biggest issue followed by pasta. Even though I don't eat that much bread, I am used to the really good stuff when I do eat it. Typically...
  12. Has anyone here used the Bready machine advertised on this site? I am becoming curious about it as it seems to be about as easy as it gets. A bit on the high side price-wise but I could swing it if it actually works as shown. BTW,.....I am no baker by any means!
  13. Found a store here I have never been to before,.....Sweetbay I think. Anyway I was able to buy a small assortment of gluten-free items including a number of pastas and some flour mixes. Got some pre-made small pizza crusts, a loaf of 'bread', and some burger buns made by Schar. Tried the buns last night,......yuck! I guess I could get used to them...
  14. I know of a good protein drink, but with all of your allergies I doubt you could drink it. I don't see what is wrong with eating corn chips,.....I eat a ton myself with organic salsa. I prefer the organic blue corn variety. This is a good protein drink if anyone else is interested. Less calories and sugar than the Ensure type drinks. Tastes about half...
  15. Yes,....Lisa is correct. I was just researching this the other day myself and found exactly what she said. It appears Lipton just changed their ingredient list a short time back, but the amount left from the barley is below the threshold where a company can call their product gluten free and be following FDA guidelines.
  16. While I am very new to this, from what I have read here chances are you do not have time to load up on gluten per se. You have been basically gluten free for quite some time now, and I would not want to pay for an endoscopy either if it will not prove/disprove anything. Have you ever been tested for the gene? That will NOT change regardless of what...
  17. Thanks for all of the suggestions folks! Seems a number like the Ancient Harvest pasta, and I see that even on Amazon. That might be what I try first. I have no doubt it will take some time to find what I like in these type products, but surely I will hit on something. After doing some reading it sounds like a problem with the elbow macaroni though...
  18. Being new to this I am eliminating obvious things, and confirming others I can still use. I am most in need of pasta,......spaghetti, and elbows. Elbows are for baked macaroni and cheese BTW. Also what do you use to replace normal bread crumbs in say a meatloaf? This is another item I eat a lot, and can't imagine one without the bread crumbs for consistency...
  19. All I could find at Publix yesterday was some Van's gluten-free waffles, Udi's bagels, and some Mission white corn tortillas to use for Mexican and for sandwich wraps. The big manager was off, so I will have to find out about ordering next time. The pasta comment sounds good as I also never cared for whole wheat pasta either. I am in process of scanning...
  20. This was my result: Gluten Sensitivity Gene Test HLA-DQB1 Molecular analysis, Allele 1 0302 HLA-DQB1 Molecular analysis, Allele 2 0502 Serologic equivalent: HLA-DQ 3,1 (Subtype 8,5) Interpretation Of HLA-DQ Testing: HLA-DQB1 gene analysis reveals that you have one of the main genes that predisposes to gluten sensitivity and celiac...
  21. I'm sure there are substitutes but I think I will simply eliminate another substance that is not healthy from my life. I will go to having a glass of Cabernet from time to time. Maybe that isn't gluten free either! Not much of a wine drinker anyway, and I don't touch the hard stuff.
  22. I am sorry for breaking into anothers thread, but something you said speaks to me. I just posted a thread myself about further testing, but it isn't up yet. While my gene test came back positive, and I have symptoms, I actually have upper 1/3 iron levels. Also an extensive fecal test showed that my absorption is normal. Please take a look when it...
  23. Here is a brief history of what led me to sign up here. Several months ago I started seeing a new doc that is into 'functional medicine' per se. He is actually an OB/GYN medically though. I was referred by my regular doc due to some vague issues I have been having for the past year. New doc had me do a stool profile by a company called Metametrix that...
  24. I am new here as you can see, but am pretty familiar with forums in general. I thought I had checked all the proper boxes to be notified of responses to threads I started via e-mail. A number of responses, but no e-mail notifications at all. The only e-mail I have received was the initial sign-up verification step. Any help would be appreciated...
  25. No,....I really can't say that the edges are raised. I'll have to look closely with a magnifying glass the next time I get one though to be sure. Either that or I'll snap a pic. I had my last one about 4 days ago. It was the only one, and was on top of my left forearm about midway down from the elbow. Just a red spot now. They look like a pimple, but...
