ARCHIVED Need A " Pep Talk"; Very Discouraged And In Pain
healinginprogress replied to IrishHeart's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Awwwwwwww, sweetie! You DID just give someone this pep talk...ME I wish I had more of a pep talk for you, but I think I'm still all gluten-y LOL But these people have displayed some amazing support and encouragement that hopefully has helped you a bit...it helped me a bit, too. I wish the relief was more immediate, but I guess it's true that the damage... -
ARCHIVED Feel Like I Was Hit By A Truck!
healinginprogress replied to healinginprogress's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Brigit, you are so sweet, I feel for you, too...going through this together! Yes, unfortunately it usually is cleaning the house that gets put on the bottom of the list, but there are MUCH more important things than that, as much as I like a clean house. And as for friends...I feel INCREDIBLY anti-social during all of this, do you? I don't feel like I... -
ARCHIVED Feel Like I Was Hit By A Truck!
healinginprogress replied to healinginprogress's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Okay, I'm just on my way out the door, but wanted to thank everyone for the replies so far...I think part of me just needed to hear that I'm healing and need more rest! I really hope I'm not getting sick I didn't know Advil (ibuprofen) was bad for the gut...it's usually what I take for headaches and body aches. The only other thing I have right now... -
ARCHIVED Feel Like I Was Hit By A Truck!
healinginprogress posted a topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I guess I'm more easily fatigued because I'm healing?? And/or lack of sleep intensifies the symptoms? I'm working two jobs...yesterday I slept in a bit because I felt ill from the day before, but then worked on my feet from 430pm to 230am, got home at 3am, tried to sleep, and then had to be at my other job at 9am. Only for an hour, but seriously... -
ARCHIVED Dietitian
healinginprogress replied to healinginprogress's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Ok, good, that's what I thought, too!!! So glad I got some extra rest When I went on the Celiac Tour of Planet Organic (health food store) the lady giving it was a member of the celiac association and she was impressed with how much I knew and that was just a week in. I think this forum and googling are pretty fantastic resources :) -
ARCHIVED Elimination Diet
healinginprogress replied to momhmmx2's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
It comes and goes for me...I went gluten-free for a couple weeks before going on the elimination (no gluten, dairy, soy, corn, eggs, nightshades) and all whole foods. On the third day of this diet I felt amazing for two days in a row...then not so good for a week, then another good day. But it's definitely better than it was on gluten...while I'm very... -
ARCHIVED Tidal Wave Of Intolerance The Aftermath?
healinginprogress replied to Newtoitall's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
This is exactly how I've been feeling, too...like everything is poison, I react to everything! Yesterday I was feeling like I wasn't sure how much more I could take This gives me hope...also, I think it's time to get rid of the gluteny shampoo..it's worth a shot. -
So, when I got the positive blood test results my doctor referred me to a dietitian. When they called me, they said I had to attend a "Celiac Group" and then from there you get an appointment or referral to a dietitian or something like that, not sure I quite understood. Anyways, the group was at 845 this morning...I had some symptoms yesterday and was...

ARCHIVED Tips For Cravings?
healinginprogress replied to Jenn624's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
LOL yeah, they are really good...the texture was fantastic, so different from what I've been eating. It was great...for about ten minutes But the gastro symptom didn't last too long at least. I'm super tired and foggy, but my tummy isn't inflamed anymore. -

ARCHIVED Tips For Cravings?
healinginprogress replied to Jenn624's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I bought a box of LaraBars from Costco before I went dairy-free...they're the chocolate ones and I'm pretty sure they have dairy in the chocolate chips. ***Omg, nope, Ijust checked the website again and they don't use dairy in the chocolate chips but they are made on a line that makes chocolate chips with dairy and soy so they just can't GUARANTEE dairy... -
ARCHIVED Tips For Cravings?
healinginprogress replied to Jenn624's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I could use some more tips...trying to eat only whole foods right now, and today my cravings have been off the charts I need to get some more variety in or something, but kinda broke and unsure what to try (seem to be good with apple, pears, rice, chicken, spinach, carrots, parsley, olive oil, salt & pepper) trying hard to not cave and have a Lara... -

ARCHIVED So Far, Soy...bad :(
healinginprogress replied to healinginprogress's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I do love edamame, but not so much that I would have to rinse it and shell it, etc. Besides..I love soy sauce, more...and I can't have that. LOL At some point I will try the tamari, though. Soy made me ill for three days. I'm going to wait longer this time before reintroducing something. It's just so tiring. NEED TO GIVE MYSELF TIME TO HEAL....ahhh... -
ARCHIVED Headaches, Celiac Dreams, And Helpful Ideas For Elimination Diet
healinginprogress replied to healinginprogress's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
It didn't sound petty, I completely understand...I've always been jealous of sleepers...and it's funny, I've been dealing with it for so long (even as a kid my mom said I never slept, and I remember her giving me things like gravol...and kahlua...haha when I was a teenager) that it almost seems like I function better on 5 hours of sleep (broken sleep, usually... -
ARCHIVED Headaches, Celiac Dreams, And Helpful Ideas For Elimination Diet
healinginprogress replied to healinginprogress's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Nice, yeah, I can't wait for this to get better, it's incredibly draining. I woke up at 515am yesterday and was still up around midnight last night, woke up at 3 and haven't been able to fall back asleep...and that's with a full zopiclone (sleep med). I've tried everything under the sun as well LOL So jealous and almost resentful of sleepers sometimes -

Oh I really hope so, too! I have sublingual B12, but I will look for B50 complex....ooo my bf just said he has some, SCORE! I will let you know, soon! Right now I'm not too foggy, just can't sleep...had between 3-4hrs and now I'm pretty much up, don't see much point trying to go back to sleep since I have to be up in an hour and a bit -

ARCHIVED Skin- Worse Before Better?
healinginprogress replied to healinginprogress's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
yeah when I took pictures it looked a little more like DH than I thought. I guess I'll go to the doctor...if I find a spare moment UGH. Feeling really down right now. Not just about my skin, but everything. Regardless...is there anything you can do for DH? Or is it just gluten-free and wait it out? And why is it on my face, has anyone else had it one... -

healinginprogress replied to healinginprogress's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
@ Terri O...yes, I have discovered that cooking is not the same as well It was very strange to not be able to taste the food I was making my SO to make sure it was okay...I don't like that at all! @ psawyer...wow. I never thought of that, I somehow thought hand sanitizer would help remove the gluten. Damn. I HATE washing my hands...I know that sounds...
