  1. My appt. in Rochester is not until the end of Oct so I have time to give the low-iodine diet.I have a question for you. Should I be seeing a derm.or a different specialist? Oh and you mention having DH behind you ears. When I very young, say 5,6, maybe even 7 (i just remember I was in school ), it could have even been earlier . I had something on the back...
  2. Do you ever eat out? I ask this as now I think I am scared to even try to go out with my family. What brands of shampoo are you using? I have looked at the ingredients, and have looked up on-line gluten-free hair products. The ones I use don't appear to have gluten containing ingredients. I also was concerned with my shampoo and conditioner. but I think what...
  3. PHEW!!! That is a lot. But thank you. It is better to have more avenues to explore and then see if they are possible culprits. I like having more info than not having any where to look. Again a big thank you for all the advice. One more question for you. I think you are so right when it comes to having even one bite. I should know better but sometimes I just...
  4. Thanks for responding. RDB Phew long name but I love it !!. The symptoms you mention is what I have been experiencing. but my soars are on the I have been using Finesse S & C, Vo5, or Baby Shampoo. I have been using gluten-free dish soap, Baby Wash or Dove soap. I stopped all other hair products around the 1st of July. What hair care products do you...
  5. I have a question that I can't seem to find an answer for, or it just be I am just not looking in the wrong place. In May 2011 I was diagnosed with IBS after blood work and Endo came back neg. for Celiac. So I went on a gluten free diet, I will admit that about once a month I did have gluten. At that point I had my IBS under excellent control. However...
  6. I have a question for everyone. I really feel like I am about to GO OUT OF MY MIND so if you can please HELP I would appreciate it. Here.is a little back story first I have been gluten-free since Jan of last year when my Daughter was Dx with celiac disease (she had a endo). I had been having GI issues for about 2 months prior to her Dx so it wasn't a...
  7. No they didn't do any Gen. testing on any of the fam. We have all had blood tests and they ALL were negative. The funny thing is that my dd who was Dx with celiac disease had a Endo BEFORE the blood work. The Endo was pos. and we were surprised to find the blood work was NEG.
  8. A BIG THANK YOU for responding so quick.I have had eczema (in my ears) for over 40 YEARS and have had NO relief. My celiac disease daughter had problems when we started solids but it seemed to subside after taking her off rice cereal. My biopsy was taken on a spot AND a clear area. My youngest is not on a gluten-free diet. I haven't used anything new...
  9. Hi everyone :-> It has been a long time since I posted anything and I am VERY stumped. I need some MAJOR advice here. I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO. My 7 yr old daughter was diagnosed with celiac disease in Jan of 2011. The house has been gluten-free since her Dx. I was Dx in May 2011 with IBS. She has been doing really good. with the gluten-free change...
  10. Hello mikyraso, Ive been reading an old post about the abdominal pain you were experiencing at night time.

My daughter has recently been diagnosed as Celiac and is suffering with the same pain at night. Did you ever find out how to control this? She is already on the diet and was ok for a few months but recently had a stomach bug and is up every night again.

Any advice you can give p...

  11. I thought I had read the ONLY way to wash gluten away was Soap and Water. I was under the impression that hand sanitizers and wipes didn't remove ANY gluten from hands but as you mention "move it around." Correct me if I am wrong but I have pretty strict on the washing with SOAP and Water ONLY. If these others work then I will be all over that. My DD DOESN...
  12. Hi EJR- I have only had the blood testing done thus far and it was neg. But my 6yr old DD had Biopsy and bloodwork done and her bloodwork was neg. as well. So I don't have a formal diagnosis. However my night time symptoms are keeping me up most nights until 2am. My symptoms are nausea, my stomach feels like it just won't stop churning and popping and ...
  13. I was telling my husband this very thing after I told him about some of the GREAT feedback here. I told him we can't let he stay alone with her. He was TOTALLY on board with that. I told him that if she wants to have her visit then I have to go with her and prepare all the meals for my DD. I can't trust her and I won't let her damage my DD. I need some help...
  14. I hear you. I am sick and tired of all these wonderful gluten-free foods not only being 3x's the price but half the size, UGH !!!!.I am also SICK and oh so TIRED of keeping a food journal and trying to figure out which of the supposed Gluten-free foods my beautiful DD .has consumed is making her belly sound like she has fireworks exploding and snarling monster...
  15. That is good advice. I also need to be much firmer with her. Thanks. I know she loves my daughter she just doesn't get how serious this disease is. The very sad thing is my SIL doesn't get it either. It is so frustrating. Maybe after us telling her our daughter can't come to her house alone enough times it MIGHT sink in a LITTLE.
  16. Thanks. I needed that. I wouldn't hesitate to send her to my parents. While they are not celiac disease they DO listen to when we tell them she can't have certain foods. They don't try to sneak her things that would make her sick because THEY think it "won't hurt her." I just don't get my MIL. She does try a little. She will buy gluten-free snacks and...
  17. Hi everyone- I wanted to see if anyone had any advice on how to handle my situation. I am really scared. My MIL wants my daughter to come for a visit. I want her to go stay but I am really scared she will come home really sick. Last time we were home she did OK but I was there to really check her food and to prepare everything for her. At home I cook gluten...
  18. Well I am facing some really frustrating issues with my own darling MIL. What is so frustrating is she has read a few books on Celiac Disease (, including Dana Korn's book ) and Yet she just refuses to respect what we say. The hardest part is when we are home and SHE COMPLETELY undermines my husband and I INFRONT of our daughter. She will say things to...
  19. [recipes. In the meantime, Indian and Mexican food are generally good places to start. I wanted to ask you some questions about going out to eat. I am a newly self diagnosed celiac disease and I am just dying to go out to eat and feel normal again. I LOVE MExican food but I am scared to go out to eat because of CC. I have a favorite Mex. Rest. but...
  20. Have you considered taking him to a different Dr. ?
  21. I have a pooy question for all of you. I think my 19 mo DD has celiac disease. I question her BM's. They very very stinky, mustard yellow in color, look as if you sprinkled black pepper in, and last of all they look as if there are tiny marbles (very sm. brown balls ) mixed in. Could this be a celiac disease BM? My 6 yr. old DD was diagnosed ( with a scoping...
  22. You mentioned that you also put your son a casein free diet as well. What is that? I have read a few posts that also mention Casein Free but I don't know anything about it.
  23. I just have a question. Are you seeing a Gastro Dr. or is it your Pediatrician that won't do the testing? As mom's we know when our children are hurting and it is hard when we don't get the help we need.
