ARCHIVED Gluten Free Work Trip
nerdolicious replied to TG99's topic in Traveling with Celiac Disease
Atlanta! I am so jealous; I just got back from there about a week and a half ago and it was wonderful! I was there on business too so I had to eat out a lot. My favorites were Shane's Rib Shack, Longhorn Steakhouse, Red Robin (I went there three times in a week, haha) and The Outback. I am a sensitive Celiac and did not get glutened at any of those places... -
ARCHIVED Flustered With Inability To Lose Weight
nerdolicious replied to LenaHyena's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
After I was diagnosed I gained about 12 pounds, which is a lot for me since I am short and on the low end of normal for my weight. I couldn't fit into any of my clothes and felt disgusting and fat. To try and combat the weight gain I put myself on a strict diet and worked out 2-3 hours every single day. This did nothing for me. In two weeks it will be exactly... -
ARCHIVED gluten-free But Processed On Shared Equipment...huh?
nerdolicious posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I am traveling for work right now and am just outside of Atlanta. I eat a lot of protein bars for snacks and usually get the ThinkThin ones, which are awesome! Last night when I got into town I went to the store and stocked up on a few groceries. I bought Promax bars because they said gluten free right on the label. I just ate one, then realized that while... -
I am going to be taking a business trip at the end of this month and will be staying outside of Atlanta. The biggest grocery chain that is in the area is a Food Lion and I have no idea what to expect. Does anyone know if they carry gluten-free food?

Yep, just had my yearly physical and all my blood tests came back perfectly normal.

KuKuKaChoo52: I am making sure to get enough fiber, but taking a supplement is a good idea. I also know for a fact that I am not getting any cross contamination because I live alone and my kitchen is completely gluten free. I eat mostly whole foods and cook everything myself. Rarely, I will eat out, but only at places I trust. I replaced all my pans and cooking...

I was diagnosed nearly 10 months ago and have been strictly gluten free since. I noticed that now my metabolism is absolutely awful! I can eat 1200-1500 calories a day while going to the gym regularly and GAIN weight, which is just ridiculous. And it's not like I am eating junk food, my diet is very balanced and I rarely eat processed foods. I understand...

ARCHIVED Here's A Weird One... Sunburn
nerdolicious replied to DianeMu's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Weird! I was out in the sun at an outdoor birthday party Sunday afternoon for a few hours and noticed my scalp was burning the next day in the shower. I looked at it in the mirror when I got out and noticed that my whole part was bright red! This has never happened to me before and I never burn anywhere else, even without sunscreen. I have been completely... -

ARCHIVED Did You Have A Trigger That Started Your Symptoms?
nerdolicious replied to afreeclimber74's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Pregnancy was my trigger. In the fall of 2006 I learned I was pregnant, then rapidly started loosing weight. I lost close to 40 lbs in 3 months. Oddly, I was eating enough and not vomiting. Everything just seemed to go right through me. I lost the pregnancy (probably due to being malnourished) and never gained any of the weight back. From then on I noticed... -

ARCHIVED Alprazolam Made By Purepac
nerdolicious replied to nerdolicious's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I called that phone number as well as another 1-800 phone number for activa that I found and left messages on both two days ago. I have a feeling I will not be hearing back. I think I will just have to talk to my doctor about getting switched over to another pharmacy. I called around to several pharmacies in the area and can't seem to find another one that... -
ARCHIVED Alprazolam Made By Purepac
nerdolicious posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I have a prescription for alprazolam (generic xanax). I travel a lot for work and take it when I fly to prevent panic attacks. Occasionally, I will have a panic attack out of the blue, so I will take a pill to stop it. Panic is also one of my symptoms of being glutened. My previous prescription was made by Mylan, but since then my pharmacy has switched over... -
ARCHIVED The Good Of Being Gluten-Free
nerdolicious replied to majones's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I actually feel like having Celiac is a blessing in disguise for me. I was diagnosed just over 9 months ago and I am 24 years old. My whole life I have never paid any attention to nutrition and was always eating junk food or fast food. Now, I have done a ton of research on healthy eating and learned how to cook. Having Celiac has given me a reason to take... -

This is a sample of what I would eat on a particular day: 1: Soy latte with no flavoring and 2 servings of dry organic cereal 2: two hard boiled organic eggs 3: 1.5 servings of almonds 4: an organic orange or apple with 2 organic string cheeses 5: protein bar or shake (post workout) 6: steamed vegetables with baked tilapia or chicken breast (no butter... -
ARCHIVED Can't Lose Weight!

I know that I am healthy and look good already, but working out and training for figure competitions is a hobby of mine. To be in competition shape, we are required to be around 10-14% fat, which is quite low for a woman, but that's how it goes. It used to be really easy for me to go into "training" mode for a competition and cut my body fat, but now it's... -
I was diagnosed with Celiac just over 9 months ago. I am used to being very small and fit (was 103 pounds at 5'3 with 12% body fat when diagnosed!). About four months after going gluten free I started to gain weight and got close to 120. I have since then leveled out around 114-115 with 16% body fat. Before my diagnosis I ate about 4,000 calories of crappy...
