  1. Does anyone know what specifically I need to be looking at in my vitamins to determine if they are gluten free? I purchased Ageless Essentials from Lame Advertisement after talking to someone at the company who is supposedly in charge of formulation. She assured me that they were gluten free, but she kept saying "they are not a food product." I am not sure...
  2. That was interesting, thank you!
  3. I appreciate so much hearing all of your stories. I know it doesn't change anything for any of us, but just knowing you aren't alone in the anger and frustration over lost time and lost health is comforting. It frustrates me so much now that I see SO many people going through similar health issues, and when I try to tell them about Celiac, they blow me off...
  4. So, my childhood recollections are of throwing up ALOT. I remmeber being told by my mom that I was allergic to wheat, so I always ate Wonder Bread. I remembered having allergy testing (the skin prick kind) So the other day, I asked my my mom, "Mom, isn't it a shame that when they found out I was allergic to wheat, they never thought to test for Celiac...
  5. Cool idea, I wish I had pictures!
  6. This is a good thought. I have some PRE-biotics...not really sure what the difference is. I havent been taking them- sort of got shoved to the back of the fridge. I think I will start though! Pretty sure it is not DH. I believe I had that about 10 years back, at the time I thought we had fleas in the house, and couldn't understand why they only bit ME...
  7. Thank you, I will check this out!
  8. Not to discourage you, but it may also be awhile. My son, who is 8 has been gluten free since March. I was SO wanting to see immediate improvement in his depression, panic attacks, hyperactivity, constant stomach pain, foot and leg pain, numbness and tingling, eye pain...but months went by with very LITTLE improvement. I tried everything, nothing seemed...
  9. Ok, did some checking, THIS is what I found: "YAZ contains the innovative progestin drospirenone, a spironolactone analogue with antimineralocorticoid properties. The 24-day active hormone pill regimen of YAZ combined with the 30-hour half life of drospirenone results in less hormonal fluctuation between cycles, compared to traditional oral contraceptives...
  10. Hmm, so if I eliminate salicylates, dairy, gluten, iodine, fruits, starches, caffeine, sugar and grain, I should be ok! Clearly I will just need to learn how to subsist on water! LOL...SO frustrating!
  11. I was on YAZ, I think it was a low progesterone one, but not sure. I loved it. I had NO period on it at all. Now I am back to hemorraging for two weeks a month. (Just another fun thing I had hoped going gluten free might help.) Hmmm...so if tea tree oil is estrogenic, could that worsen acne? forgive my ignorance! It seems to help when I put it on though...
  12. I love garlic! Is just eating it helpful, or should I be applying it to my skin directly? I take supplements with zinc in them- is that sufficient? Thank you for your help!
  13. I took tetracycline and erithromyocin for years as a teenager for my acne, and they didnt help. I also did RetinA, which pretty much just burned my skin off, and so I had burned, peeling, red skin...and acne. lol The pill was a blessing, and I havent had acne in 10 years because of it. But, alas, the last two years I noticed my upper lip darkening, to...
  14. Dairy is definitely on the list. I already eat very little of it because I have Interstitial Cystitis, and dairy really makes it flare. Specifically milk. But I may have to think about total elimination and see if that helps. So difficult to do...but it would be worth it. Iodine and Salicylates...hmmm...going to do the research you suggested. I am...
  15. So, I have always had severe acne since I was a teenager (37 now) except for when I am on the birth control pill- then I have FLAWLESS skin. So obviously, hormones are a big part of this. I have been gluten free since April, and I went off the pill in September, hoping that maybe gluten had been the cause of my acne and wouldnt be an issue now. I know it...
  16. You will most likely be under. If they haven't scheduled you yet, it is time to start making yourself a pain in the rear. Call them, every day. Insist that you need in soon because eating gluten is making you ill. I remember the two weeks waiting for my biopsy took forever, I couldnt WAIT to stop eating gluten! Hope you get yours done soon!
  17. Thanks so much for all of the comments. Like I said, it was a vent. I know dealing with ignorant people is just part of life, but it sures feels good to rant a bit to those who know EXACTLY what I am talking about! I don't post alot because I usually check the forum on my phone which doesnt allow me to sign in, but I get SO much support from this group! Thank...
  18. Hi Jane, I hope you got the new PM where I told you the name of the product. Other than that, all I can offer you is hope. My IC has improved dramatically since giving up gluten and dairy to where most days I dont even think about it. It may take alot of experimenting on your part to find out what works for you, but almost always, IC can be controlled to...
  19. My mother in law was really upset this weekend and finally admitted to me the reason for her annoyance. My husbands brother and his wife have been MAKING FUN of our family when we aren't around because of our all being gluten free! I am so steamed. I kind of knew it anyway, because they had made a few remarks in my presence like "people have been eating...
  20. Oh dear...it does sound like shingles. My Celiac daughter got shingles this summer (she was 12) She was first diagnosed with impetigo as it was on her face. But it didnt heal on the antibiotics. after about 10 days she woke up with excruciating pain in her ear. She ended up being hospitalized for 3 days as it took them awhile to make the shingles diagnosis...
  21. Suzanna, You don't need the approval of anyone here to make your decision. You are here because you feel guilty about making the wrong choice, and you are hoping that we will either persuade you to be gluten free, or validate your decision not to be. Honey, this isn't really about food. What I am hearing is that you hate the loss of control...
  22. yes you can die from it. basicly it gives you all sorts of auto immune diseses and will attak your intestins . most people die from intestinal cancer, other health problems caused by celiac, or malnutrition caused by your bodies not being able to absorb any nutriants.

    ARCHIVED Anxiety

How long have you been gluten-free? If you are newly gluten- free, your body can go through withdrawal that can cause all sorts of weird issues. Or it is possible that you became vitamin deficient from the celiac, and those deficiencies have only recently begun to cause symptoms, of which anxiety is a common one. You should request screening for micro-nutrient...
  24. Hah! I see the product I recommended was edited to read "lame advertisement" Too funny. well, if you would like the name of the product, feel free to PM me and I will let you know!
  25. Jane- I can empathize, as I am sure many others here can. I have both celiac and IC. For me, going off gluten and dairy had the biggest affect on relieving my IC symptoms, but it took several months before that relief came, so dont be discouraged if you aren't seeing results quickly. Now, I am totally gluten free because of the celiac, and I limit dairy to...
