  1. I was diagnosed in 1997, aged two
  2. I'm from New Zealand so maybe it's different?
  3. Oh I missed the bit about it being in cosmetics. My bad
  4. I can't give you any advice on adjusting as I was two years old when I was diagnosed but fir what it's worth, good luck 1) Do some research on ingredients which gluten hides under eg. Dextrose.Generally it will say in brackets 'derived from wheat or maize ( the later is safe) but if not and you're unsure, skip it. A lot if gluten-free foods don't have...
  5. It should say 'Contains Gluten' or 'May contain Gluten' in bold under the ingredients. Where I'm from anyways I'm pretty sure it's illegal not to
  6. I heard about the Glutenzyme Plus pills. They're supposed to make you able to digest gluten if you take them before you eat, right? I'm not sure if they work for people with Coeliacs 'cause it says Gluten Intolerance in the ad and celiac disease is autoimmune... I'm going to ask my doctor if they would work for me when I next see her. They would be such a...
  7. Oh okay then. I've only recently found out that my reactions are quite severe compared to other Coeliacs. I thought everyone had the whole vomiting-for-six-hours-wanting-to-die-thing, but I guess not. I'm only 15 though so maybe I'll grow out of the vomiting thing (fingers crossed). Anyway maybe I am having a reaction to the bread thing and just not noticing...
  8. I've been severly Coeliac since I was two and have always shared a toaster with my family and have never got a reaction. Have any of you actually had a reaction from sharing a toaster or are you just being careful?
  9. What do you mean by C and D? I'm new to this site
  10. Thanks. I've been gluten free since I was two but never really thought about gluten in cosmetics
  11. I was diagnosed at 2 years old so i've never missed school except if I have have a reaction. Even the smallest amount of gluten gives me a severe reaction comparable to the four hour flu But I haven't had a reaction in about a year and a half XD . When I do I usually skip the next 1 or 2 days because I'm too exhausted to get out of bed
  12. I know how you feel. People either always think I'm exaggerating or they "feel sorry" for me. I don't want their pity or attention. I just want them to be understanding and tolerant. When I was nine I was at a girls party ( she was my best friend at the time)and she gave me a piece of candy with the ingredients in asian. When I said "not thanks, I can't"...
  13. Does anyone know if the Loreal Paris Elvive Full Restore 5 Replenishing Shampoo and Conditioners are alright for someone with severe Coeliacs Disease? It's says something about a wheat protein...I have symptoms similar to the four hour flu ( you know what I mean :/ ) so I'm not sure if they're safe or not.
  14. I don't even take my parents word for it. I triple check every thing I eat. It's just not worth it to be sick
  15. Cancer really? I've never heard that. Where did you here that from? You have to be very careful where cross contamination is concerned. Teach your family that "double-dipping" in things like spreads is not allowed and be sure to wash your hands if you have to touch something with gluten. On a side note when you go out to eat at places make sure to tell...
