  1. Rachel: Have you tried smoothies? My sister, Princess, is a bit of a picky eater (Before she was here she lived off of whatever junk she wanted, as she was the spoiled one who actually GOT food. So while she lives some veggies, there is a lot she doesn't like.). She eats Peas and Corn, but that's about it. But in her smoothies, she's had romaine lettuce,...
  2. That's awful that the doc would do that to you. I'd not even be returning to that doc after a stunt like that. (Although it's illegal here, as someone else noted. But still!). I'm personally not diagnosed, but my recent issues with milk brought the issue up again. CAN you go to a different doctor? If so, you might want to. Sounds like this doc has other...
  3. Not that I know of. I've had different soy products all along my journey, although less at some points than others. Mom didn't buy cow's milk at all before she started fostering, so all milk drank was soy (although cheese etc came from cow's milk)
  4. My brother (Munchkin) will be tested at the end of the month depending on his weight change. The 5 littles are foster kids, so not biologically related to me (but due to other circumstances, we do suspect it's possible for the one, and if he tests positive his brother and sister will be tested). My mom was tested a few years back, but came back negative....
  5. Firstly: I'm 18. I almost typed 17 -.- I LOVE sweets, although my fav gluten-free food is actually pretzels (which wasn't a fav before going gluten-free). So my siblings are 1, 3, 4, and 5 (I don't wanna steal the 6mo old's food, plus the only thing she has that isn't gluten free is oatmeal..). I prepare their dinner almost every night, and I do breakfast...
  6. a tip: I lived off potatoes, Hormel Chili (It's the with beans that's gluten-free, and it says it on the can) and M&Ms for the first month and a half. After that, I added in Hamburgers (from Hardees. We lived in a hotel so I was limited). I don't personally advise fast food, but potatoes and chili, maybe smoothies (Just fruit, the milk of your choice...
  7. I've learned that I can't have dairy.. hoping to never add another to that list.. Two's bad enough.. I already miss cheese! (dairy free since Sat, but had some cheese on lunch yesterday and regret it now. It makes me bloated with gassy feelings.. can't sleep) It's actually what made me think I have Celiac instead of just a gluten intolerance.
  8. How long did you do low carb? I don't know aobut most yogurts (I don't like yogurt) but the few I've checked have gluten except the Yoplait. But if you were eating low carb for any length of time, you may have, basically, been doing Gluten Free. I personally did gluten free for a short time, then my accidental glutening was awful. Worse than ever. So from...
  9. From everything I've read: Once you're sensitive, you're stuck with it. Grain Alcohol, as in Barley being used to make beer, kind of thing? Yes.. Otherwise I'm not sure what you're talking about, though, sorry. The back pain and asthma I've seen mentioned, and myself am gluten-free because of joint pain. I'd guess that Acne is, too, but I'm at an age...
  10. First, I wish to apologize for my incoherence. I'm extremely ADHD (seems worse gluten-free, also, but probably unrelated?) so I have trouble making things make sense to anyone but myself. I'll try to clarify though. When I went Gluten Free originally, my dad was jobless and mom was working a job that barely paid the bills. So I was very limited on what...
  11. I haven't yet made an emergency pack, but I would think that foods like rice that all you need is water to make would be good. Canned beans too. My parents are foster parents and the recommended amount of food is like 1 can per person per meal per day of "non-perishables" (per kind; they say a lot of different kinds, too).. So maybe 2-3 bags of rice, extra...
  12. Last August, my mom suggested I go gluten free. I was having *really* bad joint pain, especially in my knees and ankles. I had to climb stairs multiple times a day, and I'd end up propped up on my air mattress with a pillow under my knee(s) and/or an ankle brace on (braces did help the ankle pain a good bit). So I went Gluten Free and by september was...
  13. In August, my mom found something about Gluten Free dieting helping with pains such as I had. Ever since I was 5 months old, I've had joint pains. I've been to doctors: When I was 5, when I was 10, 15, etc. When I was 16ish, The doc told me that I have Hyper Mobility Joint Syndrome, and that it's "benign." If that was true, I have a very very severe case...
