  1. I measured DD again b/c I swear I can see her growing. She grew another 1/2 in since I last posted. She is now 4'8.5 She sleeps an awful lot & is taking her vitamins everyday. And DS has gained 5 lbs recently. Woo hoo!
  2. Update: I finally had my blood drawn ystrdy. Hopefully there are no more screw-ups! I had to go to the head nurse who then had to e-ml the director to override the original nurse's orders. UGH! and of course I had to pay for the additional tests! If I am negative I think I should get the genetic testing. Does anyone know how much it costs & which...
  3. [How old are your girls? And what are thier symptoms? I chose not to have the endoscopy for my 2 teens. There is a high possibility of a false negative plus this notion that the endoscopy is the "gold standard" just makes me wanna scream. It makes no sense. I researched it & read alot before I decided to decline. After what I've learned it is archaic...
  4. can u give her a little tylenol to take the edge off? If she can have ice cream (or alternative) give it to her to soothe her throat I'm sure it will go away shortly.
  5. AWESOME! MY DD USUALLY GOES TO ORLANDO EVERY SUMMER WITH HER BFF BUT I DIDN'T LET HER GO THIS YEAR IN PART B/C OF THR NEW gluten-free WAY OF EATING & THE ADDITIONAL PROBLEMS IT WOULD CAUSE BFF'S MOM. WELL NEXT YEAR SHE WILL BE BETTER AT CHOOSING & MAKING HER OWN FOOD & CAN GO TO THE RESTAURANTS YOU MENTIONED. WE LIVE IN SO FL & ORLANDO IA...

  7. Wasn't sure where to put this...anyway I often watch "Mystery Diagnosis" on the Discovery I mean OWN channel. I did a search & discovered that back in Season 1 Ep 2 it featured celiac disease. I've searched to see if I could pull it up anywhere on the net to no avail. Has anyone seen this ep or know of another way I can get to see it? It doesn't seem...

  9. Well when I used to buy pillsbury frozen biscuits they were just the frozen dough you had to put in the oven so I am thinking to freeze the dough & then bake a few as needed. Has anyone tried to do this? and if so were the biscuits fresh tasting?
  10. Since rice is a staple for celiacs how about some recipes for different rice dishes like rice pilaf, fried rice, etc. I make a chicken curry flavored rice with chicken buillon & a little curry powder & salt. Its Ok but obviously get boring after a while. So chefs of the board lets get some rice recipes on here. Remember many of us are novices...
  11. I think it was me who asked for a pizza sauce. Tho your recipes look yummy they are much too daunting for a novice like me. (I can barely boil water! lol...) Do you have something with a can of tomato paste or something that I can add powered spices to? I've been buying pizza sauce in a jar for $1.19 not bad in price but I'm'sure it wld be cheaper if I...
  12. ypu can still have sandwiches on gluten-free bread. Or have gluten-free pizza crust in yr fridge slap on the sauce & cheese-- Voila! A fresh gluten-free pizza in 10 mts. Progresso has some gluten-free soups. Theres tuna, all sorts of salads, cheese & gluten-free crackers. Any meat with rice/vegetables & yr oatmeal is still a choice. Your repetoire...

  15. Sorry for the ignorance but is stock and broth the same thing?/size]
  16. Does anybody know if there are any store bought gluten-free gravy or gravy mix? preferably turkey or chicken. I don't cook whole birds.
  17. How old is yr DS? You are the mthr & must drive home the need for a gluten-free diet & sometimes if another person like a Dr talks & shows stubborn people like your DH maybe it'll sink in. I think you need to find a new dr. The 1st thing my DDs dr did was test for vitamin deficiencies. My DD is low in vit D. I don't understand why yr Dr...
  18. My DD is 13 yo & is 4'8 & 74 lbs. She is the shortest girl in 7th gr, but she has grown 1 inch since Mar & I swear I can see her growing now. Her bone age scan In dec was age 10. She's been about 90% gluten-free for 2 wks and she sleeps like 12 hrs a dy. I have been giving her a nightly milkshake almost daily for the past month. She also takes...
  19. I bought the udi 's pizza crust, we all like it! They cost $5.29 for 2 & I used $1 coupon so for $2.15 each not too bad as the crusts are a nice size. I still would like the recipe for a good homemade pizza crust and sauce.
  20. Could have been food poisoning as in bad meat not necessarily due to gluten . Just a thought...
  21. No matter where you live you need sun for natural Vit D. Your body absorbs it & converts it for what needs. Supplements are a great 2nd choice but it is best to try to get the recommended amounts. Humans need the sun but many humans over do it. Just be careful & moderate.
  22. OP here. Good news DD has grown 1 inch since Mar! She is now 4'8 YAY! Feb was when we saw an endocrinologist & she ordered 11 blood tests including a celiac panel & vit d levels. Well I've been given her the extra vit D (and milkshakes 4/5 dys a wk on avg ) since I got the results in Mar & I want to say that's when she started to grow...
  23. I would also have him chkd for prader willi syndrome. Its a disorder where person never feels full & always hungry no matter how much they eat. 115 @ 9 is a very large kid. Is it possible he may be eating things he shouldn't behind you back at school, friends houses, etc? Increase his physical activity with whatever he likes to do. Decrease the tv...
  24. @ luv2travel can you please post how you make your pizza crust & pizza sauce?--not the pesto one tho just regular sauce.
  25. You also need natural vit D so you must get some sun. If you are very fair (like me) 10 mts a day. Medium/olive complexion 15 mts & if you are dark skinned at least 20. Expose as much skin as possible. Do not get sunburned! Repeated sunburns can lead to melanoma. (I personally knew 2 people both age 48 who died of melanoma--it could so easily have...
