  1. Hi everyone! Three years ago, my daughter and I were diagnosed with celiac, went gluten free, and felt significantly better. Now, I've got stomach issues again, and migraines. The Mayo said it's anxiety and sleep problems. My chiropractor recommended the Whole 30 Elimination Diet. I'm on day 3. Is this the best way to figure out why I started...
  2. Celiac Mindwarp - How did the Whole30 go? I am on day 2. I hope this helps me figure out why I am having some of the same symptoms I had before going gluten free three years ago. Did it help you?
  3. I am really happy to have discovered this thread, though sad to see you suffered for so long. I did, too, and didn't get diagnosed until after my daughter got diagnosed. I had given up on myself, but for her, I gave it my all. I, too, had mono twice, and wondered how a married woman, 44, could get it! The only information I could find about mono was on...
  4. More answers, though partial. Shadowicewolf: You were right: it is a hiatal hernia. I had my gall bladder out 16 years ago, so it can't be that. But I would like to have an ultrasound on the left side to see if anything's inflamed.Throwing up bile seems like more than a hernia? The endoscopy was not fun - glad that's over! I am going to try Lactaid...
  5. I've got a partial answer, figured out by my chiropractor. I had a rib out of place. One treatment made a difference. If anyone in the Twin Cities needs a good chiropractor, who is gluten-free by the way, see Dr. Berg at Open Original Shared Link Now, it is the nausea to figure out. I think I need to give up dairy and sugar. But Dr. Berg also suggested...
  6. Hi everyone! I went gluten free two years ago following a diagnosis of celiac. The past six weeks, though, I have had pain and spasming in the upper abdominal area. I also have nausea. I have had the "flu" twice in September, once needing IV fluids. I have had an x-ray, bone scan and CT - all normal findings. Blood counts are also normal. Any...
  7. I can add another: Came home from work to find paper towels in the fridge and milk on the counter.
  8. Hello from the Twin Cities in Minnesota! Your journey sounds similar to many of the rest of us. To me, it sounds like celiac, and yes, I have noticed increased sensitivity to foods since going gluten from 1.5 years ago. It's like removing gluten helps your system settle down, then each time you have it (or grains), you body says "No!" more emphatically...
  9. Good to hear you are making progress! I hope going back on gluten for a few months isn't too hard on you. (Also, the colonoscopy.) I had the genetic test done (through MN GI Maplewood) which came back positive. Surprisingly, my insurance company covered the test. So if you still aren't finding answers, that might be something for you and Dr. O to consider...
  10. I have a hypothyroid.
  11. So glad to hear! Next time I have to go back, I'll ask for Dr. O'Reilly. Please keep me updated on how all the tests come in. Here's to getting better!
  12. I know people can come back to these threads many years later so I thought I would update it. After the ER visit, we had to go follow up with our primary care doctor. He was out that week, so I asked for the most experienced doctor they had available. So it was Dr. Hoffman at Southdale Peds (MN) who said, "I think this is stress. I could send you to more...
  13. It's great that you are going to get tested. I think listening to that nagging feeling is really a wise idea. We have had mixed results with MNGI. My daughter saw Dr. Kennedy at the MNGI pediatric clinic on University. She did the blood test, it was positive, so onto the endoscopy, which was positive. For me, I went around years and years to different...
  14. I went down the same road. Had my gall bladder out but never got better. Finally, after 14 years and my daughter getting diagnosed with celiac, we went gluten free as a family and lo and behold, I started to feel better. I don't know how often gall bladder and celiac go together, but it was definitely a chain reaction for me. They wanted me to go back...
  15. All tests have come back normal and it is the primary care doctor's opinion that it is stress. Being 14, starting high school, having a vision disability and celiac on top of that is too much. We have calls in to therapists. I feel like a terrible parent for not knowing. When I got my diagnosis, I was relieved. But I should have known that is not how a 1...
  16. Well, we ended up at Children's ER today as she had another episode early this morning. They did a bunch of tests and their working guess is that she is low in trace nutrients, especially selenium and zinc, and that thyroid may be an issue. More results to come on Thursday ...
  17. We are only about an hour from the Mayo. Do you think I should try to get her in there?
  18. We are coming up on one year gluten free. Yay us! My daughter (14) has had a few strange things happen, and from reading what others have posted, it sounds like ataxia. In one episode, she couldn't move her legs. Last night, she couldn't move her arms or speak very easily. Scary for her, and my husband was ready to carry her into the ER. Having...
  19. When we went gluten free, everyone said, "Oh, you'll lose a lot of weight then." Great! I did go down a size, but that was just from not being inflamed on a daily basis anymore. I can even wear pants with a zipper and belt without pain now! But, I have not lost a single pound. This is really disappointing! I have been training for a 5K but is that...
  20. I have seen only the Mountain White and a Cinnamon. The San Juan seven grain and the rosemary foccacia sound delicious. I think I'll request them and see if the store can accommodate!
  21. I live in Minnesota. At Byerly's, they were sampling a delicious bread I'd never seen before. It's Canyon Bakehouse Mountain White bread, made mostly with brown rice flower and 4 grams of fiber. It's really good!
  22. I had all of the above except for #5 and I have celiac. You should go get tested.
  23. My daughter is 14, and is feeling the pressure/need/desire to fit in as well. When kids ask her why she doesn't want pizza or cake, she has found it more socially acceptable to say she's on a diet than to say she has to be gluten free or has celiac. It's tough enough at this age, but add the celiac to it and it's harder. I understand your frustration.
  24. Could he bring a lunch from home? One that looks like everyone else's?
