ARCHIVED Question Re Testing Family Evey 3 Years
mommyto2kids posted a topic in Related Issues & Disorders
How is it that they say to test family members every 3-5yrs? What if we go gluten free as a family? How would a test like that work? -
ARCHIVED Just Diagnosed...is It Wise To Go Get 6 Year Old Tested?
mommyto2kids replied to slee11211's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I can relate so much to your post. Yes last year with my son's teacher, I was the crazy mom. And you hit it on the nail that the school wont listen unless a Dr. diagnoses it and in his file. My school didn't even comply with that. I've been doing a lot of reading and schools can be in a lot of hot water legally if they don't comply with a Dr.'s written notice... -
ARCHIVED Corn, Rice, Millet?
mommyto2kids replied to mommyto2kids's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Thanks so much for answering my questions. Sylvia is you reason for not using bulk bins bcause the scoop could cross contaminate? I had not thought of that. Is it in the milling process? How about the bins where they don't have a scoop, but you pour the stuff from above, so poeple can't get into it? Is that any better? Sylvia do you think then that boxed... -
ARCHIVED Is There A Magazine You Trust And Like?
mommyto2kids replied to mommyto2kids's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Yes I get that one. I like it a lot. The only thing I thought was not so good was the article about the women and her yoggi in this month's. That pretty much discredits it if I wanted to show anything in it to my kids' school. I was kind of disappointed there. I don't think religion has its place in this magazine or dealing with celiac disease. -
ARCHIVED "will I Have To Be Gluten Free My Whole Life?"
mommyto2kids replied to come dance with me's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
My kids are young. They ask these same questions of me. Sometimes the questions get to me. But I know they are making sense of my new eating that does affect them. -

I've picked up a couple, but not sure who to trust for info. I'd love to know the ones you like and why. How do you know the info is correct and medically based? -
ARCHIVED Corn, Rice, Millet?

Celiac Disease: Safe/Unsafe Food List and Essential Infornation On Living A Gluten Free Diet is the name of it. My husband bought it on Kindle. Some parts seen good and some seem extreme. She thinks the makeup of corn and rice has trace amounts of gluten in a protein and millet she says she doesn't know and all the studies were old on millet. But accorning... -
I just read a book that said these foods may contain gluten and the author does not recommend them. Also she said to watch out for buckwheat and quinoa for cross contamination in processing? I'm so confused now. What do you think? I love millet bread.

Our ds had ear infections alot. The med did that. He also had the roto virus a lot, a lot. Give him lots of yogurt and asidopholus, and break pill open and stur it into juice. Feed him firming food if you can. Try different formulas, don't mix formulas. We were there for a long time. Pampers and a size larger helped us. Hope is passes and they can figure... -

ARCHIVED How Do You Know If A Restaurant Is Safe, Please Help?
mommyto2kids posted a topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
My kids are going to a baffett dinner this week. The place has a cafe on the side. I was thinking about ordering from the cafe, but the people I've spoken with on the phone seem to be in a bit of a hurrey to get off the phone and say I'm sure we can occomodate you, but I don't feel they are really listening to me. I feel like calling one last time and seeing... -
ARCHIVED "it'll Be Ok She Will Outgrow It If You Give It To Her Each Day"
mommyto2kids replied to come dance with me's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Yesterday I read lots of things from an interesting site. Plug into your search engine "Dr. Alessio Fasano Articles and Publications". Then click on Youth Connection on the L. Then book mark this site. It will help you. The Celiac Spruce Foundation has a good letter for teachers also. I can relate to your story but on a smaller level. My son had a medical... -
The thing was in k he couldn't be trusted to stay away from the playground structure. The teacher was sick so took them out to free play most of the time. Frankly she didn't want to deal with it so sent him to the office. Finally the teacher had me pick him up at recess, lunch because she didn't want to watch him and the office personnel were tired of watching...

Yes But we are going to try to make it work here. Bringing in a gluton free treat does sound like a good idea. But I would want to teach my kids that it is gluton free and safe for them to eat. Whether the other kids understand that, it doesn't really matter. There is no limit on party day of what parents bring in. Maybe you'll get 15 cakes and ten boxes...

In my heart, I think there is a good chance my kids have it. They will be tested in the next 3 weeks. I'm afraid their school will send them to the office to sit during one of the many school parties. I've talked to administration and they have no interest in making eating at school any healthier, nor did my son's teacher last year. This is a one school district...

They are tall. DD has broken her arm twice and her finger and ds has broken his leg once. Could it be their bones are not as strong? They are both extremely hyper. DD is moody and always and I mean alway hungry. She says she feels like she is going to die. Drama queen. Ds has semifrequent stomach aches. They have both had on and off diahhreah the last 2 months... -

ARCHIVED Suggesting A Hyst. For Cramping Not Going Away.
mommyto2kids posted a topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I was diagnosed 4 months ago. I still have all the same symptoms except the constant diarreah. I had my mind make up until may friend told me to get my hormones checked. Another friend said check for a parasite. Someone on here suggested to check IgG or IgA mediated allergies. I don't know what that is. Does anyone know? I also have an enlarged tipped uterus...
